Joshua is a very talented body and mind healer. I started seeing him about a year ago as a part of my recovery process to heal from a broken leg and a screw that was placed in my ankle. His work helped me to deal with the obvious physical trauma of my injury and surgery, but more uniquely helped me to heal many of the more subtle trauma that I experienced emotionally and cognitively. His combination of meditation and mindfulness with his acute attention to subtle physical details and vast knowledge of the body have been critically supportive to my healing process. While I have worked with Joshua, we have addressed my specific injury and also many of the underlying patterns that may have contributed to my initial injury. Joshua is an excellent listener, and continues to check in with me to be sure that I am receiving the treatment that seems most beneficial to me. He also places an emphasis on simply facilitating a healing experience that I am ultimately creating for myself. I would recommend sessions with Joshua to anyone who has an interest and/or experience in mindfully uncovering personal body health. I have already given gift cards to family members to visit Joshua, and I imagine I will continue to, as I see his work as transformative.

I was experiencing lower back pain and wanted to get a massage to work it out. Joshua not only gave me a great massage, but he asked me very pointed questions to determine why I was having lower back pain in the first place. He helped me with my posture and even was as detailed to advise me that the shoes I was wearing could be a source of my problem. After the massage, I felt great, and after a couple of weeks of adjusting my posture the way Joshua suggested, my lower back pain went away. Five stars!

I got a gift certificate from my lovely friend Megan to have a Guided Release Therapy session with Joshua White. I went to the guided release webpage and read up on what would occur before my scheduled appointment. As the website explains, this is more than a routine massage, but rather a tension releasing session that involves increasing the recipient’s body awareness. My sister-in-law is an Eastern medicine doctor, and I lived in Asia for a couple of years, so I have had my fair share of massages and acupuncture. The guided release therapy session was a truly different experience. JJoshua has you feel out a medical history and sits down for a consultation before starting any bodywork to get a sense of your overall goal for the session and any problem areas. During the bodywork, Joshua really has you focus on your body and breathing patterns, and encourages being interactive with him about how you are feeling as he applies pressure to different areas. He was also good at giving feedback about what tension he was feeling in the areas of concentration and directions on how to adjust your body so as to assist in tension relief. This way you come from the session having learned a little about how to help yourself release tension. After having my session this afternoon, I feel not only relaxed with less tension in my shoulders and neck, but I feel a little more centered, too.
