I’ve been here twice with good experiences. It’s a solid café with options for a variety of different diets(gluten-free, veggie, vegan, etc.), which is nice to see. The place is a combination of self-service and waiter/waitress, which is different but ultimately a good thing. It does seem to blur the tipping process but whatever. This is a good place to take a date. Pros: * Good service * Seemed to handle a blast of people in the middle of us hanging out, leading me to think they can handle big groups * Brought someone here and, after we were done eating, I was pleased they didn’t shuffle us out the door Cons: * Food was well above average but not what I’d call 5 star

When you first walk in, you can’t help but be charmed. The décor is retro, bright, and sunny. There’s a vegan menu you can request, with suggestions and modifications. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I had the portobello sandwich, and look forward to returning when I have more time than a lunch break.

This place is consistent, which is so important to me. Everytime I come here, the food is fresh and delicious, and very fairly priced. It’s also a good place to go if you’re trying to eat healthy, as they have a lot of options!

For a neighborhood café, where the staff treats you like family, you can’t find any place better. Good food, great convenience, best staff.

I usually stop at Subway before heading to work, but today Subway was closed. I was bummed out about this until I looked right next door and popped my head into Galaxy Café. I guess I must be slightly biased against eateries with café in their name because I do not frequent any cafes. However, I was intrigued the second I walked in. It is modern and fresh feeling with hipstery-type staff that greet you upon entering. If they had a patio, I would say that they are VERY Austin. What does make them Austin-y is the menu. SO many gluten free options! I don’t have a reason to go gluten free and I’ll be honest with you, I like bread… all breads. So, I tried the mushroom swiss burger with black beans, delicious. I’m so glad I didn’t go to Subway today and tried something new. I also had the Galaxy iced coffee with sugar. I was hyped up for sure. I think I’ll stick with the press next time. Beer and wine available as well if youre in the mood. A lot of healthy options and soups as well. There were a few other things I really wanted to try, so I’ll be back for those!

Stopped in for a breakfast on a Sunday. Our party had the Lumberjack and Uptown wraps and the Denver scramble. Everything was perfect. The cold brewed iced coffee was some of the best I’ve ever had. I would definitely return for a second visit!

Everything about this place is just fine. It’s a pretty crowded place but I don’t really understand why. The plates are overpriced for what you get. $ 10 for Migas that is ok, when you can get it for $ 7 many other places and it will have a lot more flavor. $ 10 for a decent fish wrap with not that much fish in it. They barely fill the soup bowls half way. This is my first time and probably won’t be back. There are better places in Austin for the same prices.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Came to Austin for 2016 New Years and found Galaxy Café on New Years morning, open. I was in need of a good cup of coffee, breakfast and good service and I found it here at this café. Awesome friendly staff. It was quick service and the American Breakfast I ordered was perfect. Highly recommend and I’ll for sure return.

Terrible Acoustics! So loud, you feel like you are eating in a cafeteria! Food is good but nothing too exciting. Price a bit high for food/experience.

This location is pretty great. It has enough seating to accommodate busy lunch crowds. The parking can become a little bit of an issue, though. I was able to have a training for work here, free from distractions. I recommend their matcha green tea. You get your own small tea pot and tea cup at your table. The flavor was incredibly interesting. You could definitely taste that this wasn’t a tea bag from a box.

I’ve been to Galaxy Café twice now, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Other than the mildly 50’s-esque retro décor, Galaxy is a pretty vanilla restaurant. You order at the front, get a number, find a table, and wait for your food to be delivered. There isn’t much interaction with the staff, so all I can say is that they are a pleasant bunch, doing their jobs right. The food is also fairly vanilla. Just imagine your typical short order café and and, well, there you go: Galaxy Café in a nutshell. I certainly don’t dislike it. I’d really like it if they focused on adding a bit of artesian flair or heck, even a bit of extra greasiness. Anything that really gets my tastebuds excited and my mouth watering. Galaxy’s chefs are obviously competent, but hardly creative, artistic, or risk taking. My tastebuds were left bored each time I’ve been. Clean, well presented and perhaps a slight hair on the expensive side of the cost line, Galaxy Café is a-okay.

Pretty standard food! I wasn’t blown away but I would come back again if friends were going. However they did have some breakfast options which looked really good(French toast!!!) so I would come back and try that out for sure.

If your own intestines have forsaken you and you find yourself in need of a gluten-free meal, I highly recommend this place! They have a dedicated gluten free menu that isn’t just the regular menu minus all the delicious pastas and sandwiches(yeah, we’re all on to you Carrabas, et al!!). They have gf buns, bread, pasta, tortillas, and beer(Omission). I must admit, I always seem to get the same thing: The G-Free Mozzarella Sandwich(add Avocado) with a side of fries and a side of their garden ranch dressing for dipping. So good. I also enjoy a liquid breakfast there. Their french press coffee is tasty and they serve it with 3 addictive chocolate covered coffee beans. The staff is super nice and I have never felt like they were silently cursing me for opening up my laptop and doing my thing on their free WiFi during off-peak hours.

Solid four star! I’d even say four-point-five. Very clean premises, good staff, food takes a little while but actually fast for what it is, which seems very much to be made-from-scratch, good food! Wife and I came in for an early dinner, ordered two full dinner dishes, it came out a little under 20 minutes, which was not bad at all — might be a little longer if it was the dinner crush time, but a place like this that’s fine, because the ambiance is very nice, tables are spaced out generously enough to hang out and talk, and the food is worth the wait. I also love the neighborhood it’s nestled in, that West Lynn row of small shops in almost-Tarrytown area has just that right mix of residential+storefronty+foot trafficky feel, where if I had kids, I’d love to raise them — Austin’s outgrown that feel in a lot of places but not here just yet!

Love this place, ingredients are excellent and they have a wide gluten free menu to choose from! Fav dishes are the salmon salad and zocalo burger on gluten free bread! Their breakfasts are great too!

This place is not bad. Burgers are pretty good; the flat iron steak is very good as well. I love the fact that they have different types of fountain drinks(not the coke Pepsi ones) and ice teas. Their portions are good and I’m always happy to go back as the prices are also not bad at all. Here’s where I think they need to work on: 1– The menu is good, but it would be good if you can add some more variety. 2– Cashiers: the girls are usually polite, but the guys are always a bit of rude… Not sure what’s up here, but they need some customer service training. 3– The waiting time usually goes from 10 – 20 minutes… I can understand if the place is packed, but this is empty place waiting time. In summary, it’s a good place, but with a few adjustments it can reach 5 stars.

Love this place! Parking was easy despite being in a neighborhood setting. The restaurant is casual but I really enjoyed the décor and it had almost a romantic feel to it. Both the Ahi Tuna Steak salad and Thai Steak Salad were incredibly tasty. Amazing salad dressings. I also was able to try a friend’s fish wrap. It was a tad fishy tasting to me; they recently switched from tilapia to cod. Definitely need to try some of the other wraps and the sweet potato fries next time as well as come for Happy Hour!

bleh. I ended up here for breakfast after being frightened away by the messiness of Nau’s and while this wasn’t as bad, it wasn’t in any way good either. Ignoring the chaotic entrance, poorly designed menus, dry and old fruit, them forgetting my cream cheese, and giving the wrong bagel, the food was just sort of… boring. It was just a way to keep from starving for the day until dinner. The staff all seemed bored and bothered to be there. It wasn’t horrible, but I really doubt I’ll be back.

Eating at Galaxy for a late morning breakfast reminded me of eating at a café on vacation, but actually, it wasn’t vacation. The food was indulgent, and the staff were very friendly. I had the Mediterranean omelet with toasted ciabatta bread, organic French pressed coffee, and a gluten-free strawberry muffin. The French press coffee arrived at our table the instant we sat down. It’s served with a personal french press, a single mug, and chocolate covered coffee beans on the side. The coffee tasted fresh, crisp and aromatic with chocolatey nodes. It went amazingly well when I paired it with the strawberry muffin. The muffin was light and delicate, nothing too dense like your ordinary muffin. It was moist and had wonderful flavors of fresh strawberry, as if they used real strawberry purée in the batter. The Mediterranean omelet was wonderful. It had tomatoes and feta cheese. I favor omelets with feta and other vegetables, so this was a really good hit for me. I find omelets to be inconsistent with texture from restaurant to restaurant. However, the omelet I had at Galaxy was smooth and binding to the vegetables. The flavor of the eggs were not bland, it was buttery, rich, and petty in color like how real yolk is suppose to be.

nice quiet place to enjoy a great healthy meal. They have a separate menu for Gluten free and it has over 30 options to choose from! I tried their fish wrap from their regular menu which was amazing. Typically when I eat wraps I’m in a carb coma after and this wrap was just the right amount of food to still feel great after! This place is a hidden Jem. Great job!

This has been a spot that I run back to time and time again. I used to live on 12th and West Lynn, and luckily could walk over whenever I fancied for wifi, dessert, or a really great salad. What stands out as an excellent spot for me is the gluten-free menu. It is so rare that I can bring a friend with an intolerance along with me to a restaurant without him or her frowning at the menu and looking for what ‘works’ for them. This gluten menu knows no bounds and after trying to pasta. it is as good as the ‘real thing.‘ Other great dishes to try: Salmon Salad and the Buddha Bowl. Something else I ALWAYS must order on the side is the whipped sweet potatoes. They are a MUST.

This place was really good! They have Maine root sodas, YES thank you Jesus. I had the grilled chicken mozzarella with bacon sandwich and roasted tomato soup. Sandwich was so good and everything was fresh. Mozzarella was sliced little fresh ball mozzarella like from the deli not prepackaged slices. The soup was great. Had a more savory than sweet flavor and fresh basil. Husband had the spicy fried chicken sandwich and it was good, but WAY too spicy. Which says a lot. My husband is mexican and spanish and likes a lot of heat to his food. The sandwich had a ton of sliced raw jalapeños on it and was too much. He took off the jaleprnos and loved the sandwich. The restaurant was neat and clean. Good décor and atmosphere. Had outdoor dining too. Staff was friendly and nice. Would like to come back and eat again soon

Wow first time here and I absolutely loved it. We ordered the chicken Arrabiata and Prosciutto Chicken. Both were amazing healthy and good portion sizes. The cost of the meal is another nice thing about the Café. For the two meals and a glass of wine the total was just at 30.00!!! Only thing to be aware of is that the menu selection is pretty small. Over all it was a real joy eating there and can not wait to go back.
