Tiny, minuscule selection, way over priced. Staff was not friendly. Parking was near impossible. I will not return and wouldn’t recommend it to any friends. Don’t waste your time.

As far as adult stores go I have been to some and Forbidden Fruit is probably the classiest. The ladies in here know their stuff. If you have questions do not be afraid to ask. I was helped by Lauraly and one other lady and both were so attentive. The store is also organized well and not full with a bunch of crap like some of the others out there.
They have all the typical adult entertainment items you might expect and if you are looking for bachelorette party decorations or favors I noticed they had a nice selection of stuff here for that too.
Seriously 5 start customer service from Forbidden Fruit! Check it out if you have a need!

Forbidden Fruit is the best place to shop for your kink needs in Austin. Great selection, awesome prices, upscale atmosphere and extremely knowledgeable staff!!!
I went in to pick up a few things, not knowing exactly what I was looking for and seeking advice. Megan was able to expertly answer any question I had about any toy in the store. All in all, it’s precisely what you are looking for when shopping for your kink needs.

I don’t know very much about sex toys, but I recently found myself with an unshakable desire to insert a … well, I guess the specifics aren’t really important. The point is, I felt terribly nervous walking into the shop, dreading the shame and derision I would surely feel upon approaching the counter with a huge, magnificent, glistening …
But anyway, the person working there greeted me with such friendliness and acceptance that I felt totally comfortable, and even sought advice on which of several products I might find most satisfactory. A shopping trip I had been dreading turned into such a pleasant experience that I’m sure I will become a regular, especially once I’m ready to start taking bigger … I mean, ready for my next purchase!
Oh, and one more thing: the store supports the Bill Hicks Foundation for Wildlife, and you can buy small items to help raise funds for the raccoons, wolf-​dogs and other creatures that organization rescues.

I work in a similar shop in Nashville and was ecstatic to see Forbidden Fruit while visiting a friend in Austin! The staff gladly talked with me about sex toy companies, working with bashful/​misinformed customers, the show Frisky Business, etc. The prices and selection are akin to where I work, save for the lack of the awful 50 Shades of Garbage line.

I went in without any knowledge of anything. As soon as I walked in I was nicely greeted by Laura Ly. She jumped right into to my needs and without hesitation showed me & explained to me the area of my interests. She was so helpful to even explain and how me each thing until I was ready to buy! Very cute store and if I had time it was located on a cute strip of other cool stores!

First off, Mabel was AWESOME. Not only is she hella cute, but she’s very knowledgeable, and very willing to help the clueless find what they are looking for. She was very patient with me, especially as I figured out what to do with the Unilocal $ 20 for $ 10 coupon thing, and just overall extremely kind.
The prices here are surprisingly reasonable for a local shop. They seem competitive with the Internet prices on the higher quality items. The shop is easy enough to find, though backing out onto the busy road can be a pain, but that’s pretty much all of central Austin.
Overall, no complaints, and I’m sure I will be back!

Over priced and minimal selection, kinda looks like some stock warehouse leftovers, strewn about empty shelves, 9 $ for a lube packet?, c’mon I get those for FREE usually. Also, there was a really smelly dog inside, he was sweet, but EEWW, makes me question the cleanliness of the toys

The best thing about this boutique is the staff. They are super informative, educated on each and every product, and they believe in what they sell. They recently expanded their retail and added more specialty products. They always have fun and cheap accessories, like feather boas and fun sparkly stuff, and their corsets are expensive but worth it. Check out their Sunday classes too!

This place has a pretty small selection that leaves you disappointed. One of the staff members also takes her job a bit too seriously. Last time I was there, my friend and I came across a wall with a bunch of whips. My friend picked one up and jokingly whipped me with it. The woman came out from the back screaming «WHAT THE ****?! JUST LIKE WE DON’T ALLOW CUSTOMERS TO TRY OUT OUR VIBRATORS ON THEIR VAGINAS, WE DONT ALLOW CUSTOMERS TO TEST OUT OUR WHIPS EITHER. IF I WOULD HAVE SEEN THIS HAPPEN, I WOULD MAKE YOU BUY IT!»
Although we probably were in the wrong for «playing around,» I think her reaction was a bit harsh. Come on lady, there is absolutely nobody in the store right now, no need to overreact… you work in a sex shop! Women often come in here for bachelorette party supplies and to have fun looking around… not always to solely purchase bondage equipment or vibrators in a humorless manner… I admire when people take their jobs seriously but her level of seriousness came off as unprofessional… she put us on blast and killed our fun. definitely gave us a good laugh though. so for that, 2 stars.

I suspect that the people giving this shop stronger reviews have had very little experience with what a real sex toy shop can be like. It has a very small selection of toys, and while an even smaller handful of them are quality products, most of them are low end and barely a cut above novelty level. The store itself feels like an NC-​17 version of Spencer’s (the risqué gag gift mall chain).
It’s basically ok, but very far away from being great. If you’re serious about sex toys, I’d suggest just buying online from Good Vibrations, Smitten Kitten, or Toys in Babeland.

Not the largest selection, but the saleswoman was informative and helpful. I went home with two finger toys which unfortunately turned out not to be strong enough for me, but I chalk that up to it being my first time there. I really enjoyed that they let you test every item in the store before you buy it. I will definitely come back to this store. It makes a world of difference to be able to look at the selection in person versus buying blind online. I am also curious about the classes they offer. What a neat feature.

The staff is always helpful and accommodating– I always feel comfortable going in to shop and asking any questions I may have. The prices are a little high (compared to online prices, but not that bad when shopping locally), and their variety is not always what I would hope for, but I always find something when I go in there that is comparable to what I was looking for. They don’t take the «Go Local» Card, which is a bummer, but I hear that’s not really their fault. It’s a great local business to support if you’re in the market for something really naughty or just something a little spicy. I appreciate that they keep their apparel and their «toys» in separate areas. I’m looking forward to whenever they start selling their stuff online next year.

This is not your averagve Adult store! There are no pornographic films, magazines, no live nude girls, no private dancing booths, nothing creepy at all! Located on North Loop Blvd, which is a family friendly shopping area! The store is bright and welcoming. They mostly have toys and a little lingerie. The staff is kind and mostly female, which I prefer! This is a store that feels more female friendly and oriented. They sell cool toys stuff I have seen on Dr. OZ and Oprah, so I guess that’s top of the line stuff! :) They also have the most intense BDSM section I have seen in Austin. They have actual floggers! wow! They have some stuff that is locally made too! I love supporting local businesses and this place is all about keeping things local!

The gals working there were friendly and eager to promote the stellar locally-​made goods in stock. I am IN LOVE with my Sacred Heart rubber flogger! I also received good, succinct advice on riding crops. I went to a TON of shops looking for a classy, durable, leather strap on harness and they definitely had the best selection. Their in-​store classes look to be a really good tie-​in for community edu-​tainment.

Austin-​area sex shops have been disappointing. Forbidden Fruit is no exception.
My girlfriend and I came here sex toy shopping and were let down by the small selection and quality of the brands. Most had cheap one– button programming, so you could only increase vibration but not decrease unless you amped it all the way to begin the loop again (unlike the multiple-​button interfaces of some higher-​end toys).
The ambiance of FF didn’t help either, making everything in the shop look like a gag gift, if it wasn’t a gag already (see Quani C’s review). The employee didn’t seem very knowledgable either and seemed hesitant to show us anything in the case.
I’ve had a much more pleasurable experience buying online and from several, more mature shops on Chicago’s north side. I appreciate all sex shops, even fun ones. But, if you take your sex life seriously like an adult, save yourself the trip to Forbidden Fruit.

Thongs down for accessibility, presentation, immediate gratification, and for the staff making me feel so at home other customers thought I worked there — I presume mostly because I was swinging around an item I really liked all around the store.
Thongs up for the store being too small and a bit overpriced (I mean seriously, you can buy a blow up Annie Oakley at ½ the price on-​line).
