I loved East End Wines and I’m so sad they closed. I stopped by pretty much weekly or biweekly for about 2 – 3 years. I always appreciated that they knew my name and what I liked to drink. I regret that they closed and I wish I knew how to get in touch — it was so awesome they knew which wines I’d been buying and drinking that I didn’t keep track. Now I sorely miss them and wish I had that record! Please come back!

I had a bottle of wine at a restaurant that I loved but couldn’t find it at any liquor or wine store. I came to East End Wines and the guy helping me was fantastic. He didn’t have the bottle I wanted but found out where in Austin he could order it from. I was able to purchase the bottle at a much lower price. This place has a great wine selection! Everyone is extremely helpful in assisting you in finding the right choice. They have a cute patio out back where you can take a bottle. They do charge a corking fee for drinking on their property, which I don’t love. But overall, I’ve always had good experiences and have walked away satisfied.

Perfect for east side. more of a 3.5. Laid back super casual vibe, good worldwide selection of wine. It’s a rather small place so the amount of selection is small but the prices are competitive and the $ 7 corkage is totally fair(comparable to Whip In). i wouldn’t consider it a wine bar but it does combined retail with the ability to enjoy the wine on premise. It’d be great if there were more food options on site but you can always support the myriad of dining close by.

Delicious wines were tried at the free Friday happy hour(in my case Czech wines… soooooo good.) Glasses are incredibly reasonably priced and for a corking fee, you can drink the bottle you purchase outside. Beautiful place, patio seating. Will be back!

Came on a Friday and caught a wine tasting. We ended up buying 2 bottles of our favorites that we tried. I would like to go back and spend more time browsing their selection. The reason for the 4 stars was two things. Walked in and even though employees saw us, no one greeted us or asked if we needed some help. The woman hosting the wine tasting was the first and only person to acknowledge us until we checked out. The other thing I saw was a $ 7 corking fee if you wanted to stay and drink wine there. We didn’t stay and I probably won’t stay and drink there. $ 7 is another bottle of wine!

I am always grateful for a wine store that employs really knowledgable people, since there is so much to learn about wine. While visiting Austin recently, our hotel recommended a spot to pick up a nice bottle for a BYOBBBQ joint we were headed to for dinner. Not only were the employees knowledgeable and friendly, they were afraid to make some bold suggestions. The Italian St Magdalener was perfect with our brisket and we even went back after dinner to pick up some dessert wine. Thanks East End wines, see ya next time!

My parents love wine and were coming in town for the weekend. They are frequent Austin visitors, so I wanted to pick a new activity that wasn’t on the«top 10 things to do in Austin» list. I heard through the grapevine that on Friday nights they have free wine tastings from 5 – 8 pm. This is not really advertised, other than by word of mouth. SO my parents, some of their friends and myself headed over for the Friday tastings. I was a little skeptical but pleasantly surprised. A different vendor comes in every weekend, showcasing 4 different wines. You get a small taste of each. There were quite a few people here, some of whom claim they show up every week. The best part about the place though is the back patio. Buy a bottle of wine for a $ 7 corking fee, and enjoy a glass(or 5) on the patio. They have heaters going if it is chilly, and table water. There is also a food truck in the back that looked amazing, we had other dinner plans though. The owners were very helpful and there is a wide variety of wines!

This is probably one of my favorite places to go and get a bottle of wine. The people that work here are really into their jobs and make it fun to find something to pair with a dinner or just something new to try. Lots of tastings, wine of all varieties and prices and a chill environment make this a low pressure sale when finding a bottle. My favorite part is that these guys actually have great suggestions and I’ve found wines that I never would have tried due to their insight. If you are nearby or even in this part of town stop and and check it out, you won’t regret it.

The selection is amazing and rotates just fast enough to keep you on your toes. Everyone that works at East End Wines is very sweet and informative. They are always there for any questions, or will let you explore without interruption. The space is an old Eastlake home that has been converted into a commercial space. It makes for a perfect venue to grab a bottle or two of wine! And if you like the location, you can always stay! For a small corkage fee you can sit on the outside patio and enjoy your find!!! So very happy to have East End Wines on the Eastside!!!

Beautiful old house, great and easy to find location, friendly and helpful service, inexpensive/high quality/unique products… I was so lucky to happen upon this place! On first glance they seem like a retailer for wine, but they also have a patio to sit and enjoy your purchase. Go, you will not be disappointed!

This is a place for a sophisticated pallet which /who is tired of the sophisticated scene… Wine selection is stellar and modestly priced. The patio in the back gives you opportunity to taste your selection as soon as the register is closed… Combined with one of the best food trucks Austin has to offer on premises this place is a must see as you explore this great city… Earns 5 stars for honest complexity with undeniable local flare… A must.

Great selection and helpful service. They’ll uncork a bottle and provide glasses for a small fee. The Three Little Pigs food trailer has really good food to go with your wine.

Unfortunately on this trip we were not able to stay and enjoy the veranda and adjacent food trailer, but look forward to uncorking a bottle and enjoying the relaxed east Austin ambiance very soon one evening. For today, we bought a few bottles. A friend recommended a fantastic bottle of red wine she tried while vacationing in Rome this summer. In Rome, she paid quite a bit, but the same bottle was here for only $ 20! We also bought another Texas red blend and a couple of bottles of mead(where can you find MEAD???). Bottom line? We left with 4 bottles of fantastic wine for much less than paid anywhere else! Great place that I highly recommend!

Finally a place with a diverse selection of quality wines without the snobby pretentious people or prices. The average overall cost of a bottle is around $ 18. Currently their selection is Eurocentric, but they highlight some good Texas stuff as well. I even found some great Greek wine, and they even have one from Turkey. The two owners here are laid back, and highly informative. Between the two of them there is nothing they sell that they don’t like themselves. All of this is housed in an amazingly well restored and maintained 1800’s home with beautiful craftsmanship. I fell in love with the original door and stained glass. They have a food truck on site, and a great outdoor patio, that is semi shaded from the hot sun. Bonus, even a small free parking lot. I love their free Friday late afternoon — early evening wine tastings, always highlighting something different, and they provide well written tasting notes. You can also buy a glass of wine or cider and enjoy it out on the porch. Be sure to sign up for their newsletter to keep up to speed on their tasting events, and classes. I think I found a new favorite hang out spot.

A treasure. If you like wine, you are a fool if you miss East End Wines. East End Wines sits atop a hill overlooking a neat corner in East Austin. The area has that delightful«transitional» feel to it. Not quite gentrified, but not sketchy. The place is a big house, and you will feel like you are intruding on someone’s private life when you first step in. But then it gets good. The entire lower level is floor-to-ceiling wine. It’s loosely organized by region, and then by type, and then by price(the spendy stuff is near the top so the children can’t reach it). I can tell a lot about a wine shop with a quick glance at the offerings and the prices. Some wine shops and restaurants offer cool, small production, trendy, exciting wines. Some wine shops and restaurants offer good prices. Precious few offer both. This one does. While every palate will find something pleasing, East End Wines does not shy away from the cork-dork stuff, and at these prices, you have a perfect opportunity to explore new places or grapes or styles. Go for it. If this were simply a retail space, I would be pretty impressed, but even BETTER is that you can enjoy a bottle(or three) on premises. The service is friendly but unfussy. Your bottle will probably be cracked open for you at the counter when you pay for it, and that is just fine. They have many bottles already chilled. I would be a regular here in a HEARTBEAT if I still lived in Austin. Alas, I will have to stay content with being a groupie from afar.

I’m always in love with shops or cafes that set up shop in old homes because it’s unconventional and always feels a little magical. East End Wines was exactly that. As soon as I walked in, the little child in me awoke and danced around as I turned each corner. It’s like a library, but instead of shelves of books, there were shelves of wine, which I think is better, but I’m sure that’s up for debate. The customer service was POW! and the wine selection would inspire even the snobbiest of vino aficionados. I sipped on a very generous pour(and VERY affordable) of refreshing white wine while indulging in Three Little Pigs’ delicious eats on the back patio. Bravo, East End Wines. You tugged on my heart strings, and barely rattled my wallet. I think I love you.

East End Wines is a pleasure to stop into. Don’t forget to stop in and select your bottle(or bottles) of wine to go with your Dinner at Eden East. Eden East is BYOB and they generally will have your dinner menu at hand and will have already put some fabulous pairings together for before you’ve even walked into the door. Now THAT’S what I call service!

Great place. The worst part about it is that I had no idea it was there for the first year I lived in Austin… and I live down the street from it. So basically what I’m saying is that the worst part about this place is that I’m an idiot and didn’t find it sooner. The selection is fantastic. The price is great as well. The staff are always knowledgeable about the wine… and the outdoor patio is nice to drink on if the temperature isn’t a nightmare. They are dog friendly, as I found out the other day when i was dog sitting 2 crazy boxers and decided that the best way to dog sit is to sit outside with them with a bottle of wine by myself. You really can’t go wrong with East End Wines.
