I arrived at 5:40AM and waited for the shop to open. By 6:00 there where 4 customers. The service was quick and professional but not friendly. Most items not made. The colochies where Luke warm outside cold already inside. The breakfast tacos had runny eggs. From other reviews it is plausible that this was an off day. Too many other choices in Austin for this type of mediocrity.

This place has poor customer service and the staff is inconsiderate. He didn’t hear up my kolache and my total was $ 4.94i was told to purchase something else to meet $ 5 minimum. I will never come here again and the doughnut holes were crappy and stale and dried out.

It was the grossest pastries I ever ate. I don’t know what else to say but here goes. I bought a donut, cinnamon twist and ham croissant. All junk folks and I have tasted some bad food. I went their 10.25.13 and have never returned. It was a donation of which will never happen again. I don’t know what possesses some people in Austin to say if it’s cheap it’s good. Patooey I don’t buy that at all. You can get good food cheap but in my opinion not here. I say save your money and find a better place. I’m of the mind that this place ain’t it.

Come for the name, stay for the donuts. Donut Taco Palace III is a lot like Donut Taco Palace II. Legit. Cheap. You feel the thrill of gustatory prescience when you walk in the door. Have you discovered the Holy Grail of donut/taco recombinatory legend? Not really. The donuts are good. The tacos are okay. There are crumbled tortilla chips in the migas taco. If you’re lucky, you’ll see some local goth teens siting on one of the six repurposed Dairy Queen booths. What you will definitely get is a cheap breakfast.

The donut taco is amazing and that’s all you need to know.

It’s nice that they have a variety of tacos readily available, pre-made to say, however it’d been nicer if they were actually warm instead of cold. I wouldn’t mind waiting for a fresh, warm taco. Donut was fine.

After seeing these places throughout Austin, I finally caved in and tried it. Yes, they have donuts. Yes, they have tacos. YESTHEYHAVE A DONUTTACO! Did I try them? Nooooooo. I got my standby apple fritter and a sausage, cheese, jalapeño croissant. First of all, why did I not get a kolache? The croissant was OK but it wasn’t THAT good. It was just ‘eh ok’. The apple fritter? Good lord almighty it probably weighed 3lbs. It wasn’t THAT good. It was super sickly sweet and almost tasted like cake. I’ll definitely go back to try other things though. Probably even a donut taco.

I had the donut taco and while it was very large, which explained the $ 4 price(reasonable) and the bacon egg and cheese filling was good the donut just threw it off. It had no sweetness, which would have been a good combo for the savory filling. The salsa was very good though.

Only thing that I dislike is that you have to have a $ 5.00 minimum charge of your going to use a debit/credit card. I had to throw it out there. The good and donuts are always good to go. So if you need a quick fix for a donut or breakfast taco this is the place.

Don’t know how to erase my bad review so yall get 5 stars to even things out. I shouldn’t judge too harshly on just one bad visit. I’ve been there when the owner served me and he was fantastic, always a smile on his face. You can tell he has fun by all the wacky creations; definitely worth a visit.

DTP3 is pretty average in terms of the donuts, kolaches, breakfast tacos, etc. The donuts don’t taste very fresh and are a bit too sweet. It’s similar to the quality of donuts I get from HEB but not as soft and fluffy. If you do come here, though, there are 2 things worth trying: the croissant looking kolache and the donut taco w the syrup on the side. Top with the salsa and you get a massive and tasty, savory and slightly sweet taco that substitutes the traditional tortilla with a donut instead. I am all for marrying my favorite foods together, and this was quite well done. We wanted to try the cool hand sign donuts, but it wasnt even noon and they had run out. I was a bit disappointed, since that is one of the things I was looking forward to getting. Perhaps management needs to work on making sure supply matches demand to have satisfied customers.

I liked the donut holes a lot. The breakfast donut was very unusal and I liked it. More of a pancake batter than donuts.

I have stayed away from this place because for some reason the name of it turned me off. It may be the thought of eating doughnuts and tacos which don’t mix well. I was craving a breakfast taco so I decided to put aside my name fear and stop in. I tried to look at their website to see what they had prior to arriving but, their website is horrible. It’s better to just stop in and read the board. I ordered a chorizo sausage taco with egg, onion and cheese. I also ordered a bacon, egg, cheese and onion taco. They both came with red salsa that had a kick to it but, I would have liked it a bit spicier. I wasn’t a fan of the chorizo sausage taco because to me it kind of had a hamburger helper taste. I loved the bacon, egg, cheese and onion taco. The white onion was potent and you could tell they just sliced it fresh for my taco. All their tacos are made to order! These are big tacos stuffed to the brim so; unless you are super hungry I would advise just ordering one. I also tried one of their longhorn doughnuts on my second visit. It was huge, moist, sticky and tasty!

First off I really love donuts. So this was an easy selection for me. Now make some thing I love into a taco and I am sold! The donut taco was filled with bacon egg and cheese. It was a very large portion of all three thrown into the«donut taco.» The donut was not glazed but slightly sweet with the perfect texture for a breakfast taco. The eggs were nice a fluffy and he bacon was crisp and chopped. Overall, very cool experience.

I ate the donut taco and it was AMAZING! I would definitely recommend this over the donut sandwich which was extremely tiny. The donut taco was a pressed out donut(not too sweet) and there was bacon egg and cheese on the inside. It was just so full of flavor. I loved the combination! It was only about $ 4 so very reasonable and you leave satisfied!

I’ve been here a few times now, never been disappointed. The donut taco is ridiculous and delicious, everyone should try it once. They also have good kolaches(I’m picky about my kolaches), and it’s hard to go wrong with one of their donuts. There is a breakfast rush, expect to stand in line if you arrive during it.

Why did I not go to this place sooner. I’ve been passing this place for years, was always intrigued by the name but never went in. I ate breakfast there on a Sunday morning, not expecting to actually find a donut taco and a donut sandwich under its roof. I was wrong. I got the donut breakfast sandwich that came loaded with bacon, sausage, cheese and eggs on top of a glazed donut. Every bite was better than the last and, despite being stuffed after I was done, I was ready to go back for more. Next time I will try to the donut taco. The regular old breakfast tacos looked great too, and the folks I was with said they were exceptional. Glad I finally went in.

I never write reviews same-day, or even within the same month, but I’m really excited about this place. My bru(an even higher level of closeness than«bro») lives close by, and when we woke up this morning he asked me what I wanted for breakfast. «Donuts. And tacos.» «I know just the place. Donut Taco Palace!» Can I just say how much I appreciate that this place sells EXACTLY what I wanted? If only every craving were that easily satisfied. Sometimes I want pickles and ice cream. Or pizza and cupcakes. No such luck. The owner is so sweet. He threw in half a dozen cinnamon-dusted donut holes with my order. I had the chorizo and egg taco(highly recommended by my bru) and a maple bacon donut. The salsa really took the taco to another level, and the bacon bits on the donut were perfectly crispy. My bru couldn’t even finish his apple fritter because it was so huge. I love that they make hook ‘em shaped donuts, although our team isn’t doing so hot these days. I deffo wanna try the donut taco next time. Thanks for introducing me to Donut Taco Palace, bru. That’s what brus are for.

I picked up a chocolate glazed donut, blueberry cake donut and sausage/cheese kolache for breakfast. The owner gave me a free small glazed donut as well(their glazed donut glaze has a yellowish tinge to the glaze… not sure what/why but it tasted great). Overall, I’d rate the food 3.5, but the weird name(Donut…Taco…Palace…III)means I round up my rating to 4 stars.

I always enjoy a stupid food hybrid(as long as it doesn’t require a wait in a two hour line), and of course anything involving donuts, so I knew I had to check out one of the three awesomely named Donut Taco Palace locations. I was immediately disappointed to hear that they no longer sell Donut Sandwiches, so I would just have to settle for a Donut Taco. This turned out to be a good thing, because just seeing the Donut Taco almost made me heave. This monstrosity consists of a heap of bacon, egg and cheese crammed into the greasiest donut batter you could ever imagine, folded into a taco shape. As soon as I touched it, my entire hand was soaked. I had to at least try one bite, but that was all I could manage. The overwhelming greasiness almost out me off donuts. Almost. So why 4 stars? The rest of the stuff, like the plain old donuts, were excellent. Also, the super friendly, really nice guy running the place was awesome. In addition, he gave us a dozen of the tasty donut holes on the house on our way out. We tried a Plain Glazed, a Chocolate Frosted with Peanuts, and a Maple Bacon. These were all delicious, and did not suffer from the shocking oil overload of the taco. Also, as usual with these little old school places, everything was dirt cheap. This place is definitely worth checking out if you want a good old fashioned donut. Just steer clear of those Donut Tacos and you will leave happy.
