Overall I liked it at Detour; The bartenders were fun and my Corona was $ 3.25, which is a decent deal, considering I was in the Domain ‘hood. It had a fun ambiance and while it probably isn’t as quirky as central Austin, it’s still neat to drink there.

Small space with an oval bar set a little off center. Seating on all sides. Pool tables beyond the bar. Half wood bar with big rail, half faux marble with no rail. Carpeted square foot rest. Funny carpeting. Bar overhang that holds glassware. Local bar with drunk crowd. Great bartenders(Nadia maybe?). No bar back. Two pool tables and a dart board. Pics on wall of everything. Skews male. Beer prices area fair, but $ 7 shots of Jameson, ouch.

Live DJ’s every Friday and Saturday night from the Premier Entertainment Group. No cover charge, great drink specials. The DJ’s play from 10PM-2AM and mix music videos on the big screen.

Literally a little detour between two other shops. Great cozy little pub with a good atmosphere and hot server ladies.

I had driven around and past this place a few times and finally decided to visit. This is definitely not the swankiest of bars, but it doesn’t care to be. I went in on a Monday night to watch a basketball game, and I got what I was hoping for. Cheap beer and snacks, a game-friendly environment, not to mention the staff there wasn’t pretentious or too busy to small talk every now and then. The bar food was a tad overpriced. I could see myself becoming a semi-regular for sports events.

This place is cool. If you are looking for a bar outside of the Domain but close to it I would definitely hit up Detour. The bar itself is small, but cozy. There is a big bar in the middle of the room, which is carpeted like you are at Chuck E Cheese, but hey who cares — you are there to drink, right?! The drinks I had here were good and the bartender was nice. I could tell that this was a place where the local hang out as well. Drinks are way cheaper than anywhere in the Domain so that is another plus. This place is A-OK in my book and I would absolutely come back.

Blah, TVs suck, music sucks. Darts and pool are hard to screw up. Average age is 50. If you jumped in a time machine and went back 25 years to when they were in their early 20s I’m sure they were still fugly. Bartenders are usually nice to look at. Mostly friendly and drinks are priced ok. If your trolling for middle aged ladies friday/saturday is your wheelhouse.

This is a solid 3 or 4 star bar, it is not trying to be fancy, so i rate it against similar places like Benders. It feels like a neighborhood bar and it gets the drinking job done. The DJ on friday nights is amazing, you can tell ppl were there to hear him(i didn’t catch his name but heard he is there most weekends). He played fun party music that made ppl dance. When you walk in, it looks like someone just stuck a bar in the middle of a carpeted, badly decorated room. What made the night was basically the bartenders and some crazy regulars. The blonde, petite bartender provided great customer service and was super friendly. The brunette with a crop top and half shaved head was just fun to watch — she was flirting, dancing with other sexy women and just causing a bit of a ruckus. I enjoyed it and I’m pretty sure my date did, too! ;) The prices for drinks was totally reasonable. We will be back to imbibe alcohol there again.

I found out about this place recently and absolutely love it. The atmosphere is fantastic, their bartenders are fun and really know a lot of drinks, and they had great music going. It’s small, but it’s fun!

Rolled in here on a Sunday afternoon after a session at Top Golf which is right next door within walking distance. The place was pretty empty but they had the NFL Sunday ticket with multiple TV’s all over. Drink specials were $ 3 domestic beers and well drinks. On top of that they had a free breakfast spread which consisted of eggs, sausage, biscuits, and some killer homemade gravy. The bartender was awesome making sure our glasses or bottles were never empty. She even switched the NFL games to whichever team you want to watch on whichever TV as long as no one complained about it. Oh and they had free pool too. Seriously one of the top spots for Sunday NFL games. You could easily spend several hours in here which is exactly what we did and we had a great time. I don’t know if there’s a police station near here but there were a lot of cop cars cruising up and down Burnet so be careful of the drinking and driving. Overall though awesome place, much better than the Detour in Oak Hill.

Add one more bar to my «neighborhood bar» list. It’s not really really in my neighborhood, but close enough warrant inclusion. I’ll refrain from using the term«dive bar» for any number of reasons, particularly because I think the term is thrown around way too much without a full understanding of what a true dive bar is. The main reason is that it’s just a low key locals bar. Cheap booze, pool table, and a ridiculously energetic(if not ueberhyper) bartender the night I went. Cocktail glasses are stemmed. Carpet is ugly. Weird swirly thingies hanging from the ceiling. Karaōke on Tuesdays. Daily drink specials. Pretty much all the things you would expect from your friendly neighborhood bar. They don’t serve food, but that’s no problem. Feel free to bring food in with you. There are a number of choices in the same shopping center. I can see more frequent trips in my future.

Went there once a while back to check it out thinking it might be a cool place to hang. Figured out that you don’t get that welcomed feeling, apparently unless you’re a regular. Everyone else looked like they were having a good time only because it seemed it was an «everybody knows your name» type of deal. I sat down at one of the small bar tables they have against the wall waiting on someone to greet me. Sat there patiently close to 10 mins thinking maybe they were just busy. But nope, nothing! I realized that others who walked in were greeted with a smile and some actual service, only because they seemed to know the bartender. So realizing this I was still giving them the benefit of the doubt and decided I’ll just walk up to the bar and order my drink. The bartender reluctantly approached me with no enthusiasm and took my order. then after running my card handed me two drink tickets! Like he was already cutting me off before I even started! I was surprised at this, thinking they have got to be kidding! This is the ONLY place I’ve ever been to that operates business this way. That’s a great way to build a rapport with a potential new customer. not! Long story short, I won’t be returning to this place to be treated like an outcast!

I like detour, always some friendly faces and usually a good time. If you’re looking for a relaxed service industry bar it’s great. Had a few bad experiences but all were because of the clientele not the staff. Felix is great

I’ll give this place the 2 stars it deserves because I’m not coming back to get the free drink they bribe you with if you write a 5 star review. it’s a dive bar off North Burnet close to the Domain. It has a small dance floor/space for karaōke, average drinks but a friendly waitstaff. With SO many other options in town you surely don’t want to waste your time coming here. Unless you lived in walking distance and/or meet your friends here on the regular.

Some of the friendliest bar staff in town, great drink prices, well kept pool tables, and a dj on weekends nights. I’ve been coming here fairly regularly for a while, and always end up having a great time. Basically just your good times, Cheers style, neighborhood bar.

Solid spot. Pool tables. Good selection. Danielle has a kind soul, chill atmosphere. Specials start at 7. Juke box takes credit cards so you can always get your jam on. Clean, lots of seating. I suggest giving this spot a shot.

You had me at «$ 2 Bloody Marys». The place is small and the carpet’s nostalgically ugly, but there’s a popcorn machine, plenty of stools and televisions and some arcade games. There’s no beer on draft, but the selection is still ok(we took a Fat Tire), there’s $ 3 mixed shots on some night or another, you can order sushi from Ryu next door(sushi menus are at the bar) and their«Sunday Brunch» is a startling innovation: you can bring your own food(but no beverages) and have the aforementioned $ 2 Bloody Marys ’til 1 p.m., $ 2.50 Lone Stars all day. Note that Ryu is closed Sundays, so no drunken sushi brunch possible, I’m afraid. The Bloody Mary? Zing Zang job with extra tabasco and no celery stalk, but good value even after 1 p.m.: it was in a pint glass, and with the beer, the round came to $ 9.50. NoRTH would charge you that for the exact same cocktail — and just the cocktail — but perhaps this was happy hour pricing. Shortest route to improvement: less tabasco, more habanero. Longer route: Cholula, fresh black pepper, and either beef broth or some A-1 sauce. The Running Bloody Mary rankings: 5 stars: Daily Grill(Nick), Rio Rita 4 stars: Mc/Shmick’s(Natalia), Roaring Fork(Rob), Hideout 3 Stars: Detour, Chez Zee, Mimi’s Café, NoRTH 2 stars: Molca’s, NXNW
