Today might be the first time I stepped into an actual barber shop but I’m really glad I did. Topher gave me a super hair cut(with shampoo and blow dry). He’s meticulous and skillful. And a really nice guy. I will definitely return. The place is family run and old East Austin charm. I was the only gal in the place but don’t let that dissuade you, ladies.

Topher mastered my red and keeps it looking great with little to no damage to my very fine hair. He’s amazing and I won’t trust anyone else with my hair ever again. He takes his time to make sure he gets the color just right. He even took the time to style my 5yr old daughters hair while we waited for my color to process. If I could give 10 stars I would!

Straight 5 stars. He has worked on my hair plenty of times all different colors. And he does the greatest work. He takes his job serious but does keep a conversation going with his clients, so they feel comfortable. When your hair is done you will absolutely love it.

Topher was my stylist. He is affordable and a wonderful colorist! I’ve had my hair cut and colored by him and have ZERO complaints. My hair was ruined my a colorist before and was an ugly bleached blonde. I wanted to grow it out but he suggested we do bayalage to it. I had never heard of it, but he basically painted on the color over my hair to blend my 3 inch almost brown roots to the gross blonde. It turned out Sooooo good! I’ve gotten constant compliments on it.

I saw my friends hair looked amazing so I instantly wanted whoever did it, to do my hair. She had tagged Topher and I instantly messaged him asking if I could make an appointment and let him know what I wanted done. He made it real easy for me to see him to get my hair done with my weird schedule. He even did my hair on his day off! Says a lot, he’s very passionate about his work. My hair’s naturally black and my hair stylist before Topher was having real problems trying to get my hair to a blonde ombré like I wanted and I was paying so much for a half ass job. I went to Topher one time and he got my hair to the blonde I initially wanted and I didn’t leave with my hair feeling dry. He’s such a great guy and knows exactly what his clients want! Wish I had met him sooner. I will definitely be continuing to go to him and recommending him to friends and family!

I was already on this side of town, and decided I wanted to a cheap haircut to take away some of my split ends. I Unilocaled locations in the area with high reviews and $ as a filter, and Dan’s Hair Styling came up. I did some research via Facebook to see if they even did ladies hair, and saw Topher’s work on the pages. Since the sign said walk-in’s accepted. I did just that. The business is not hung up on bells and whistles. It’s providing a service for low cost, and you should expect that coming here. I met with Topher, who told me he had a couple appointments and we discussed coming in the next day. About an hour or two later, he called me back to let me know he had some cancellations and could fit me in today. I was very happy about that! I asked him how much he wanted to charge and he told me it would be $ 20 for a shampoo, cut and blow dry! That’s unheard of these days! Plus he listened to what I wanted, leaving my length, long layers and recutting my side bangs. Overall a super experience at an amazing price! Talk about bang for your buck! Topher was just really cool to talk with. He made me feel like I belonged to the East side… Which we all know I really don’t! I’ll be scheduling with him in a week or so to refresh my color! :)

Why go to Birds Barbershop and pay $ 45 for a simple trim? When you can go to Dan’s Hairstyle a true East Austin barbershop. These guys know what they’re doing, very honest, professional, friendly, reasonable priced and great customer service.

This is the real deal; walk-ins welcome and straight razors! I got a hair cut from Dan who was very nice and skilled. Afterwords he touched up my beard for no charge. The place is open early(and I mean EARLY) and only takes cash. When I found out about this Dan let go to the ATM across the street AFTER he cut my hair! I cannot stress how much this kind of service is lacking at the other shop down the street(who left me with ONESIDEBURN!) Try this place out if you’ve been burned by the boojee shop down the road.

I’ve been coming here since I was in first grade. It’s just around the corner from where we used to live. This place has been an original landmark in E 6 st Austin for at least 30 yrs. Walking in is like a flashback to an oldschool barbershop, remade. They use straight edge razors for that clean edge(perfect for neck & sideburns) which is hard to find. I always go to Junior my barber, who always cuts it the way I like. Since it is a family business Dan Sr. and Margarete have their set clients waiting for them as well. This is a good place with skilled people that doesn’t break your bank just to get a haircut. Expect to wait in line sometimes, if there is someone in particular you’re waiting for. Check them out. FYI they’re closed on Sundays and Mondays.
