Marty is back. In Austin that is, and now cutting and styling at a delightful salon and skin care bungalow called Crimson, now in its 6th year. I was fortunate to have met Marty back when he cut at a place called Horsefeathers. We became friends too, and I followed him to his next gig at As You Like It Agnes, but after he had cut my hair for years I was, alas, unable to follow him to Seattle. :-) Well, he’s back in Austin, back behind the chair again and providing good looking haircuts at reasonable prices in a lovely establishment in the heart of downtown. Crimson has a lot to offer that I didn’t try, including Brazilian Blow Outs, skin care, facials and waxing, but rest assured if you want your hair to look good, call Marty – this is the place to go. Marty takes time to really look at you and chat with you to evaluate your wishes and sense your personal style before he cuts, and the results always earn me compliments: «Your hair looks great!» Who doesn’t like to hear that? The salon is homey, bright and cheery, with great natural light and fantastic art on the walls. Parking is available in a free lot just next door to the South, and there is also on-street pay station parking. Happy to be back with my «regular» stylist again!

Laurie is the absolute best! She cut my hair for years(until there was no more hair to cut), and I miss seeing her every 4 – 6 weeks.

Crimson is really one of this town’s best kept secrets. It’s low-key, comfortable, and delightful. You can get a great haircut or facial and feel pampered in private. Truly relaxing! I love Laurie Greenwell. Her haircuts are divine, her sense of humor never fails to make my day brighter, and the surprising bits of political or entertainment trivia she has to share are always like the mint on my pillow! You have to book in advance, though, because this girl is in demand…
