AC blowing hot in the Texas heat=disaster! Luckily Clayton @ Carter’s fixed me right up. Price was up front, & didn’t try to up sale me. They even checked the rest of my cooliant system and made suggestions for increasing efficency.
I will be back after service like that!
**UPDATE**
Went back in to finish AC check and unfortunately I’m going to need some repairs. That however is not why I’m writing this update. The level of service from when I 1^st went in dropped off tremendously. I called at noon to give them a heads up I would be by that afternoon, when I arrive I’m told «oh I thought you meant tomorrow.» They go ahead and get car checked, here’s the fustrating part, all I’m told is it’s leaking from possibly the O ring and given a price written on a sheet with no explanation on what that price entails.
You were suppose to put dye in the system right, then why not show me the leak? Also, it’s very suspicious when you hand someone a price with no detail. Yes you explained it might be an O ring leak then why not provide me with the estimate details such as price of parts and number of hours and specifically what the problem is.
Bottom line; NOT that impressed afterall.

I used this shop recently for a transmission fluid change. John the manager was personable and friendly. I thought I was going to need a filter change as well, but after the fact John reminded me on my make and model there is a permanent filter that doesn’t need changing. So honest as well and the service was even cheaper. The car was in and out in just a few hours. Based on the service I received I would use them again.

The 75 for 50 deal is what brought me in, but the service is what makes me want to come back. You can tell these guys actually give a $#!+ about you and your vehicle. My car (’05 Ford Freestyle) was discontinued but they did everything in their power to learn all about it anyway while the had it in their shop. Thanks guys! I’ll be back in a few thousand miles!

Great Automotive Shop!
I needed a simple transmission oil check up & change on my 2010 Chevrolet Traverse and it was taken care of smooth as fresh butter.
The general manager’s name is John Stockman and he took care of it from start to finish.
From the first phone call the service was honest & up front, there was even the added benefit of my receiving a $ 50 discount for coming through Unilocal and posting a Unilocal review. :)
Though, originally I simply mentioned their «$ 50 for $ 75» and he turned it into a $ 50 discount. Perhaps they’ve been slow? Whatever the case, I was treated well & he answered all my questions with professional knowledge & real honesty that was refreshing in an automotive shop.
Basic transmission oil change & checkup ran about $ 110, so I paid about $ 60 & left feeling confident that my car (nicest I’ve ~ever~ had, so I’m being careful with it) was taken care of and not left with a loose nut or something.

I had a positive first experience at Carter’s. They fixed a phantom wiring issue on my Cherokee for $ 130. I would trust them with future repairs. They used to specialize in Jeeps, but are seasoned and can probably fix anything.

During Labor Day weekend, my RV decided to go no faster than 35 mph on our drive from Houston to Austin. We stored the RV in Austin and after exhaustive online research, I drove 150 miles back to Austin to take my RV to Carter’s. I thought it had a transmission issue, but just in case it wasn’t the transmission, it was nice to know that Carter’s could do the full range of work on it.
Not only did Carter’s diagnose the problem for free, but they fixed the real problem– a clogged catalytic converter. Then, I added a few other issues onto my list and they handled them all very professionally, choosing cost-​effective and thoughtful solutions on my older rig. I was very appreciative of John’s timely phone updates and the fact that my motorhome was ready on-​time for my use when I arrived back in Austin. Very professional, excellent work, very fair pricing. I plan to use their services in the future. A most excellent service-​provider!
