Busted In Austin

Authorities making arrest records and mugshots available online have provided lucrative opportunities for bottom-​dwelling «business people» like Jay Martin (Busted in Austin) and Isaac Cornetti (the Slammer). Why is it ok for authorities to participate in the destruction of a person’s reputation by serving them up on a plate for these wretched cannibals? Together they are ruining lives of countless victims who by making arrest records and mugshots appear in the top results on search engines and hence barring them from opportunities with employers resulting in a lifetime of struggle and even poverty. They pretend they are doing so as a service to others when in fact they are only serving themselves at the expense of others.

Dear Busted Magazine,
You can seriously suck a bag of dicks right now. Like forreals.
And really, Travis County Jail, please for the love of god, get some better photography lighting.
Invest in some good silver reflective umbrella lights, and some quality light bulbs. It’s all about the white balance, son.
And, how about not using some bored officer who hates his job to take a photo? Professional photographers don’t come cheap, but shit, find a photography intern to at least point you in the right direction.
Lastly, hook a sister up with some fucking Photoshop or some shit, yo. A few retouches can go a long way, you know.

Charging people to have their mugshots removed is a form of extortion and I encourage people to bring charges and lawsuits against the owners of the website: Ryan Russell of Star 9 Company (Central Information Association and KPG Media), Kyle Prall, Ryan Russell, and Jeremy Brooks. For misdemeanor arrests this site can cause a lot of damage to an innocent person’s reputation and charging $ 60 – 100 to remove the picture is illegal.

This should be ILLEGAL, even though it’s public record. In fact, it’s nothing but sick jerks making money off people WITH NO CONVICTION, except that some 23-​old-​jerk now APD with a chip on his shoulder decided to ruin your day, with little reason other than to save his own paycheck.
And I’ll tell you straight-​up; I was arrested and innocent (but before this absolute use-​it-​for-​my-​period RAG sheet). Like your own face front page!!! It could happen to you, too. Quit laughing. I had a seizure (epileptic), and could not explain that for a day, due to police harassment (stress will continue that: they pushed me to a grand-​mal seizure: my first in my life, over something simple).
Yeah, ambulance said my vitals were fine. EPILEPSY DOES NOT AFFECT VITALS. It was before the rag, but I’d hate myself page one made fun of for what was an epileptic seizure.
These people, if innocent (a lot are: I stood with them in court. The guilty often admit it to you; most aren’t), lose their jobs, are now not given opportunity to a fair trial (you already know them): it’s wrong and disgusting.
Come on, Austin: the APD force is inflated and they have to make money off that inflated police force. Y’all who love it so much and think it funny obviously don’t live on the East, where they arrest EVERYTHING.
My own lawyer told me that they will call ANYTHING (including spitting) either assault or DUI, cuz that’s how they make money.
I heard the opponent to my DA now running, laugh, while choking for my life on a video (I went into a seizure I’d never had), «We love epileptics that can’t afford healthcare. They look so drunk…»
You people who think this is «entertainment» are of a sick kind: the APD can arrest you for anything, at any moment, RIGHT NOW, just cuz they feel like it. Just cuz they feel like it. I repeat: just cuz they feel like it. And you’ve nothing to say about it.
This rag does NOTHING but hurt people who deserve A FAIR TRIAL, they are not convicts, they lose their jobs over shit as simple as on day off walking home drunk for their photo, and it is NOT cheap entertainment.

oh wow, this is so funny to look at. i like the people who got busted for public intoxication. dear god, it’s just a funny paper. but seriously, don’t go to jail or you will end up in this paper and people will be laughing at you.

My husband buys this gem of a paper from time to time and it’s great for a chuckle. We were at a bar the other night and a copy was sitting there begging to be read, and it made good for some laughs. Can’t beat the price!

Knowing that friends, family and co-​workers could possibly see me in this publication if I got arrested makes me think twice before doing things such as urinating in public, driving under the influence, and domestically abusing someone. A little shame goes a long way.

A co-​worker brought this «rag» to my attention (actually another employee was IN it) and like a trainwreck on the Springer show, I had to check it out. I actually went and purchased one today for Unilocalsearch (again, you can thank me later). This thing is sold behind the counter at certain convenience stores (check the webbie for locations) for $ 1 and NO tax. One dollar to make you holler. And just like Springer, I don’t know whether to love it or hate it or be embarrassed by it… so 3 stars.
A few thoughts I had whilst perusing this publication:
How in the hell do they get away with putting peoples’ mugshots in print??? (apparently thru the Freedom of Info Act and by mentioning on every page that all are innocent until proven guilty)
I thought I was having a bad day…

What kind of pic would I have??? (see morning after pic, most likely)
This thing posts everyone (watch yourselves out there creepy peeps!) from general public intoxication offenders, to repeat sex offenders (with «notorious recidivism»), to child beaters, and from «old farts» to «whipper snappers» and «busted beauties» to «handsome hooligans» (btw, they’re all innocent til proven guilty). It also posts restaurant inspection ratings, little games to match the mugshot with the offense, and always reminds us that «Jesus Loves You» (I shit you not!).
And just like daytime TV, this makes me feel a little dirty and ashamed for viewing it. I nervously laugh at these people, convincing myself that my life is sooo much better and I am soo much better until I remember some of the stuff I’ve done and…(I am innocent til proven guilty!).
