Great fresh food, clean and welcoming. Great for vegetarians too. Good portion sizes, great deal for the money.

Ambience was really good. We went there on new year eve, they had lots of to-go order. So, service was not up to the mark. But I will give 5 for the food. They were really delicious. We will be back

4 biryani take-outs in 10 days, which OBVIOUSLY means we are madly in love with this place. Their biryani is arguably better than 70% of the biryani restaurants in Hyderabad, the birthplace of this beautiful, complex, flavorful dish. It’s crazy and mindblowing how good it is. Their chicken comes with massive chunks of the breast and bone which can be a little annoying, but their mutton biryani is succulent and tender. The folks at this place are super chill and never scoff at our shameless requests for more mirchi ka salad and raita. They also have decent appetizers like chilli chicken. But their biryani OMFG — so consistent, flavorful, comes with hard-boiled eggs and onions and lime, no skimping on those extras and garnishes!

This place is great! Samosas and Malai Kofta are really really good! I’ve never dined in but it’s always busy every time I pick up my food. If your near Parmer and Metric, it’s a great place to grab some good Indian food.

I broke a cardinal rule of mine today. I was rather short and raised my voice at a service worker. I don’t enjoy doing that. I served time in those trenches. I know the struggle. But there was quite a bit of things that happen to irk me. How is this useful to you, Unilocal reader? Simple. Do not order food there before 5:30. As they will not start cooking it until that time. I went here today with a friend at our lunch break(We work 2nd shift, Our lunch is at 5) and he’s in the mood for Indian food.(He acquired the taste while working at Teji’s which I cannot recommend enough.) And we head out. We arrive here at 5:15. Where they tell us they’re closed. No big deal. We can head out and hit up somewhere else. Then they offer to do a to go order. Perfect. We order. They tell us 25 minutes. And we bum around in the shopping center to kill time. I pick up a few groceries. And my friend heads back and gets in around 5:40. And is told it’ll be 5 minutes. Well 5:52 rolls around, and we’re due to clock in in less than 10 minutes. And I check out the counter, walking past tables that had their food served, to look at the to go order that was already sitting on there. The gentleman there assures me it’ll be out in 5 minutes. I tiell him I need to clock in at work ASAP and to make it all on the fly. He stands there as if I spoke martian. I motion to the kitchen. Still not quite getting it. And then it clicks. And he checks out the kitchen. Another 5 minutes passes. And I start clipping out. Tell them to 86 the order. They wonder what’s going on. then I tell them to cancel and refund it. Magically the food appears. I tell them I’m not having any of it. Had they told us that it would be 45 minutes for it to be ready from 5:15. That would be cool. We would have eaten somewhere else. No harm no foul. Had they not served a half a dozen tables and three other to go orders before us. I would understand. But to pull all that shit when I try to show you guys off to a friend? Bad play gents. . There are more and more Indian places popping up in Austin. Skip this one. Go to one that’ll be honest with you and respect your time. Paradise Biryani, Curry in a Hurry, and all the places off Lamar. Good spots for Indian. All quicker, or at least more honest, than these folks.

We like this place a lot for its simple lunch special plate for about $ 9.95. Very fresh very hot very tasty and very ok communication with the wait staff. You’re met at the door with a person saying something I’m not sure about until later, to find out, do you want our lunch meat or lunch vegetable plate or a menu was the question. $ 9.95 meat plate with fantastic tasting rice and other flavors on the school lunch tray. Pretty cool idea

Food is awesome, but this place needs FDA inspection. I saw rats running around the restaurant. The waiters were actively laying traps to kill the rats while people were eating! never going back.

In the market for some biriyani. Had it, wasn’t outstanding. Can’t reason why I’d come back here, seeing as food trucks can do the same thing. I’d like to see the clay pot my food was made in though. The flavor was solid but unmemorable. Right now I like the truck on Rainey street, and the meats served in Bombay Dhaba. Took the order to go, so won’t comment on service. It was efficient and professional though.

This place is amazing! Mouthwatering food! By far the best food I have tasted in the US. We ordered chilli paneer, egg curry, garlic basil naan and veg biriyani. Must say all of them were delicious. Chilli paneer had the right amount of spice in it(I didn’t have to mention it to them to make it extra spicy like I do in other restaurants). I have also tried chicken biriyani here, which so reminds me of food back in India. Filled with flavors. Kudos to these guys for representing true Indian food! P. S. Even their dessert(I tried rasmalai) is yumm.

I think I got in the way of a text message conversation the dude at the front was engaging in. He eventually acknowledged me, got my takeout order, rang me u… wait no important text msg again. I guess… I can wait… ugh us customers. always wanting something! I wonder what the important text messages were about? Was it his girlfriend breaking up with him for being an uncultured piece of shit? Or was about that cricket match India was losing?(ps. they lost) Who knows! Anyway, I got my food and paid some expensive amount(no tip, that I remember) and drove home. At home, ready to put this unnecessary exchange behind me, I open up the bag only to find one of the worst portions I have ever seen. My housemate saw the receipt and even he was like you paid how much for this? I don’t remember exactly what I got… either chicken korma or butter chicken and a side of rice. Either way, it came in a tiny container which i finished in one sitting. Felt cheated that’s for sure. It’s amazing how customer service affects ones perception of an establishment. It seems there’s a lot of menu items that are pretty decent here and this service can be chalked off as an anomaly, but why should I take the risk and give a 2nd chance when I wasn’t amazed by the food, the portions were too small and price too expensive, and there are so many other options for desi food in the greater Austin area? So sorry bhai, didn’t mean to get in your way earlier but I can assure you, I wouldn’t be getting in the way of your texting again!

— By far the best food especially mutton biryani I had in Austin. — Loved chicken 65 and naans — good ambience — one star less since the service takes time might be because it’s full filled, definetely understandable.

The Indian restaurants up here are putting those in South Austin to shame! Biryani Pot is another gem nestled in a strip mall between a pizza place and a UPS store. They are usually packed during lunch, and it’s cause the food is that damn good! They offer a lunch plate where you choose your choice of meat(chicken or goat, both for $ 8.99) or vegetarian($ 7.99) for your Biryani. Every day there are different sides and sauces, which is great because there’s something new each time you come by and it’s a looooot of food. I usually have to get a to go box on my way out. We’ve been here for dinner as well, and the food is just as delicious. The only reason I don’t give them five stars is due to their service, especially at dinner. The appetizers are always served with the entrees, even if they’re ordered in advance. Also, during all of our dinner visits, empty plates were left on our table(which was pretty small) and our drinks were not refilled. They do better with service during lunch, but could really work on it for dinner. Overall, it’s definitely worth a visit. Just know there are some kinks they still have to work out when it comes to their service.

This place is pretty good. It’s a bit far up north, but if you’re in the area, solid place for indian food. Since this place was called biryani pot, I opted to go for some chicken biryani. It’s heaping amount of spiced and flavored rice but not as intense as I thought it would be. The chicken is tender and spiced nice that’s buried under that mountain of rice, though a bit dry. The raita is what I’m normally most looking forward to, but I needed a ton of it to smother my rice appropriately — it still tasted great mind you, but I needed a larger quantity of it than I’m used to to get the same effect. Some of my friends got butter chicken(very velvety, tomato cream curry). It was the best I’ve had in a long time and made me regret my dish a bit. Another got the gongola? chicken — some green sauced chicken that was very interesting. Also tried the garlic naan and the butter naan — I didn’t really notice any difference sadly — but the breads were soft and had a toothsome chew — all that I could ask for. So, all in all, its a good place… but come for the curry, not the biryani.

I was impressed by the quality and great flavor of the food here. I got their non-vegetarian lunch combo with goat. The rice was cooked just right and the combinations of spices and flavors all worked well together. While I do think their biryani is very tasty, I dl feel they are very light handed when it comes to the amount of meat they give in the dish. Plus the goat costs $ 2 more and most of it is bone. I have gotten a piece once that had some bone marrow in it I was able to get out. That was cool, but overall I wish they gave more meat. The other items were all good and the portion was just right. The food tastes fresh, made of quality ingredients and as if grandma was back there home cooking away. Not much for atmosphere and the best part of the location is how easy it is to park, but they’ve got some great food here. I’m told the dishes in the combos change daily. I get the feeling they have a plethora of other tasty items to try out. I know briyani well and have had many different versions of it from different cultures. In case you’re curious like I was, their version of briyani is from Southern India in the style of Hyderbadi cuisine. The manager was helpful in appeasing my curiosity.

You can trust my review on this one. I’m from India. Therefore, I cook/eat indian food(or As we like to call it — food) all the time. You can’t go wrong here. I’m personally not a huge biryani person, but my husband loves the egg biryani. My pick is the malai kofta and the Gobi manchurian(an indian Chinese fusion dish with cauliflower) — the combination is killer. I’m not too fond of their soups either– they taste very much like the Maggi instant soup. Naan/rice is pretty standard, nothing of significance there. The portions here are pretty good too, I almost always bring some back home. The food can be a little spicy, so if that’s not your thing — let them know you want it mild. There’s not so much ambience to speak of– it’s In an old strip mall adjacent to an heb. Keep your expectations low. It’s a good spot for families with hungry kids — no one will judge if your kid throws an earth shattering tantrum. Indians are immune to noise.(Personal experience) Do not bring your date here, Unless it’s the 100th date. Definite win.

Biryani Pot is one of those places that has been on my «to try» list for a long time, but I just never find myself in the area. It is pretty rare that I find myself near Mopac and Parmer, but I’ll just have to change that, won’t I? My review will be limited in that I got my food to go, so I can’t speak to the service or the dining experience. With that said, Biryani Pot still blew me away because the food is amazing. I got the chicken biryani and the amount of food they give you is huge. Seriously. All that food was enough for three meals for me. THREE. From one order of biryani. Pretty crazy, right? Then there’s the biryani itself, which is the best biryani I’ve ever had. It was bursting with flavor and stirring and mixing all the goodness together released quite the aromatic experience. This is exactly what I would expect from Indian food. I also got some butter naan and it was decent. There wasn’t much in the way of a buttery flavor, but I was okay with that. I’m looking forward to trying the garlic basil naan next time. If bones in your food offends your delicate sensibilities, Biryani Pot might not be the place for you, but the meat literally falls right off the bone and it is easy to pick the bones out of your dish.(And not having bones in your meat seems to be a mostly American concept.) Bones add lots of flavor, so roll with it and just try it out. In the meantime, I’ll just have to find reasons to come here more often because the food is totally worth the drive.
