Beverage Barn Drive Thru

Machines out of gas or out of order. To add woe to misery, the pumps do so slowly and with a sound like there’s a little man or beastie inside pumping the gas from the depths of the earth themselves.

I Will never go here again. As soon as I walked in the door the guy behind the counter thought I was trying to steal beer and said if I go into the beer section he would pull his gun out. I’ve never been treated this badly by any business in my life. I had a Gatorade in my hand but put it back because I couldn’t bring my self to give this horrible establishment even a dollar. I don’t even drink beer. Don’t go here, horrible service and ran by horrible people.

This place is a Shell Gas Station that also functions as a drive thru for the convenience store. Since moving to the downtown area this year, I’ve scanned the neighborhoods for the best gas prices around. This place always seems to be competitive and cheaper than the rest.
Yeah, it’s a gas station, big deal — right? But I come here so frequently (2−3x a week) and noticed so many changes in such a short amount of time, I thought it would bea disservice not to Unilocal a review. The owner has made some significant upgrades in the recent months that are customer friendly. Allow me to run down the list:
— Biggest win: he upgraded the manual pay pumps (pay cashier first) to electronic pumps (pay at pump w/​CC). Now that reduces turn around time and the extra trip of going back and forth if you’re using a credit card. AWE-​SOME! I’ve been to some gas stations where they refuse to upgrade due to the high cost of those pay pumps, however, this guy said he puts in a request to Shell Corporate and they always come through for him.
— He replaced the canopy /​roof (over the gas pumps) and vastly improved the lighting, so it is very bright. No worries or insecurities due to lack of lighting while filling up late at night, it’s all good. Ben Franklin would be impressed.
— He repainted all the curbs and poles, and added new trash bins.
The owner here is really nice and personable. He remembers you if you are a repeat customer and loves small talk. A solid 4+ stars is good for now since I am a fan, however, if they start using window washing solution in their brand new window washing bins (instead of water), then I think all these improvements and upgrades combined would be worth a perfect rating.

Gotta love the Drive thru liquor store. Not sure society needs a place where you can purchase whiskey, Slim-​Jims and cigarettes from the convenience of your car, but for those that need that, get excited. I went with some friends and they say that you actually can save some coin at this place, since they’re running specials to attract folks. Personally, I don’t mind parking, getting out of the car, walking a few yards to get my groceries. If you’re a regular here, try it, it’s good for ya’
