While no property, not even this one is perfect, Bell Quarry Hill is by far the best complex my wife and I have lived in. We’ve been residents here since late April of this year, and I hope rent doesn’t go too far up because I’d love to stay until it’s time for us to purchase a home. The complex in quiet, other than a little road noise from HWY290 and the subsequent construction during the day hours. This complex is also the most clean I’ve ever seen a place. The maintenance staff and grounds crew are top notch. You get outstanding finishes within the apartments, which is what put this property over other in the area when my wife and I were looking to move. From granite counter tops, REAL tile flooring, and even GASSTOVES! The units are extremely energy efficient as well. In the heat of this Texas summer, we kept our thermostat at 71 degrees and we rarely had an electric bill over $ 100. Neighbors are mostly quiet, save for the occasional barking dog or noise from moving residents. The front office staff is very nice, and have helped with anything we needed thus far. If I had to state some cons of living here, I would say that the driveway through the front parking area can be a major speedway. Many residents tear down the driveway and when you live near the front of the complex like us, pulling out of your parking space in the morning can be a dangerous prospect. There is also a Catch-22 to living on the first floor. Yes, you get gorgeous stained concrete floors in your apartment, but I’ve noticed the outside hallways flood very easily when it rains. It seems like they didn’t adequately plan drainage when building this complex atop a sloping hill. Another con would be the fact that there is major construction underway in the Oak Hill area, and if you happen to work from home during the day, you can hear the crews working. And with the plans to said construction up in the air, there’s no telling what will happen to the beautiful view the residents who face 290 have. Will they end up looking straight into an overpass? I don’t know. We’ll see. Overall, I would recommend living at Bell Quarry Hill. Let’s just hope the high cost of living in Austin slows down a bit, because you do pay a premium for such a nice property.
