My stylist, Michael works out of this location. Each time I’ve got an appointment, I find myself happily shopping before and after my hair is done. The store has a great selection of everything — great gift items, featured local’s crafts, candles, and of course skincare and hair care products. I give them 4 stars, not 5 because they are a bit pricey(I’ve got my license in another state, so I skip the professional products because they’re high) with many items. My favorites are the Voluspa candles and ATX photography coasters. The girls who work in the front of the store have always been welcoming toward me. A great reward is the punch card!

The staff in the store are all terrific, especially Jessica who helped me find a great product to fix a split nail. I have to disagree with some of the posts regarding their attitude. Yes, they’re young, but every time I’ve been in there they’ve been very helpful, friendly, and warm. As an older, overweight, and past-my-prime-of-good-looks woman, I expected to be marginalized or even ignored. Instead, the entire staff(including the manager on my third visit) got involved with tracking down what I needed. I also love all the fun stuff they have for sale besides beauty products! I bought three pairs of groovy sunglasses and several hilarious fridge magnets. Colleen in the salon gave me the best color I’ve had in years, and I’m digging my haircut. She is super cool! This is one of my new fave spots in town, for sure!

Attendants that looked like they were in highschool were snobby and had terrible delivery, talked to me as if I was stupid. After they reassured me– without looking, that nothing on my list of things was stocked at the store(which is fine, I didn’t expect to find anything– but wanted to check the place out anyway as I know they carry a lot of high end products), I decided to look for a hair paste I always get specifically from this location. I had forgotten the name of it and it was not on my list of new items to try out. So as I’m looking in the Redken area for what I now know is Rough Paste 12, I ask them if they have it. One comes and tells me it «definitely wouldn’t be Rough Paste 12 because 12 is another product», I tell them it’s in a black tube with blue lettering and it’s a paste, and that I’m pretty sure the number 12 is on it. They babble on and insinuate I don’t know what I’m talking about and speak to me in a condescending manner. I GOOGLE«Redken Rough Paste 12 and what do you know, it does exist and also looks exactly how I had described it. After I show them the picture one girl immediately starts saying how she uses it and it’s perfect for hair styling(lol). But that it must be discontinued(no, I think you’re just out of stock.) I tell them I got it a month ago but it’s fine, I’m going to continue looking. One calls and finds it at another location, but I had already decided I want to take my business elsewhere, and politely tell her no thank you. She then raises her eyebrows and says«alright thanks I guess.» Hahah! I will definitely make sure to avoid this chain in the future when looking for products. Better off ordering online than listening to teenage girls talk out of their ass and be snooty to me.

I see that you updated your initial defensive(and hostile) response. I appreciate the more appropriate tone. However, trying to invalidate my real experience is not necessary. In the spirit of good business, please use it as an opportunity to improve. Best of luck to you & your future customers.

I’ve been going here regularly for about 2 years to see Rose Tong for color. Rose is amazing! Not only does she do what you ask, but she makes your hair look more fabulous than you imagined. I like the fact that this salon is attached to the«beauty store,» as one can pick up shampoo, nail polish, or cute«Austin-y» gifts. The gals at the front desk are very friendly and always call me the day before my appointment to gently remind me. A+

Great local store for beauty & hair products. They often run«Buy 2 — get the 3rd half price specials». I wait for those. The staff can be a bit snooty at times, but can also be helpful. I’m glad to have a Beauty Store back in this area since Luxe Apothotique moved to the Domain.

. The stuff there was somewhat over priced. I could see a layer of dust on shelves and products which was a turn off. I was browsing when I saw a girl scowling at me. I think she was a stylist there and was not looking at me that way personally. I think she probably just looks like that. I wanted to leave immediately because it was really quite scary. Wow. I think u should look friendly at a salon to try to get customers not like a spray tan beast who has a bad attitude. Really scary. The other ladies were nice and helpful. Cute stuff but I could of stayed home and shopped on amazon and not been frightened by an orange monster. Lol

I’ve been going to Robert for color and Alfredo for my cut for years and they’re great. I take Robert a pic and that’s what I get. He’s taken me from dark brown with highlights to legit blonde and then to vibrant crimson colors. I still have to argue with people about the fact that I was never a natural blonde bc it looked SOOO good, and was/is still HEALTHY! Its so nice to go in sometimes and just tell him to do whatever he thinks is best and know I’ll love it.

Robert Witt is awesome. I went to him because of the other Unilocal review listed here. New to Austin, I got a terrible hack job at one of the city’s top ranked salons(Milk + Honey). So, I started searching for good Unilocal reviews for stylists in my neighborhood. Something about this review really stood out. I interviewed Robert and showed him my hack job haircut and his response to fixing it was dead on. Been seeing him ever since. I think I’ve had four or five Robert haircuts and I’m sold. Trust me, this guy knows his stuff. He’s been doing hair for maybe 20 years, he’s a master colorist and just a lot of fun to talk to while you’re in the chair. You won’t be sorry.
