Love this pharmacy! I always have insurance issues at CVS and end up waiting in long lines. This place is what a pharmacy should be: personable, knowledgeable, friendly. I actually drive across town to come here and it’s totally worth it. They also stock specialty meds that are hard to get. Looking forward to my next stress free visit :)

Melissa, the on-call pharmacist, came through for us in a big way over the weekend, driving an hour each way to bring us a badly-needed drug. She saved us and she did it with a smile! Avella is always there for us when we need them, we’re so glad they are here in Austin!

I think 3 ½ stars is a truer rating but since I can’t give half a star, I’m leaning towards four. Location is easy to get to with free parking in the garage.(Always nice when you are in the area of the Drag and parking is not easy or typically free.) It took just a few minutes to fill my prescription, which was a plus. I’m used to 30 minutes or more at the big box store pharmacies. My doctor recommended this specific pharmacy because their price for a certain prescription not covered by insurance was lower than anywhere else in Austin. The only negative was what the previous reviewer mentioned — my flex spending account card was not accepted. If Avella accepted flex spending cards, I would probably switch from my usual big box store to this one.

They were nice when I used them last year(with a different name), but I am unhappy about their hours(8:30−5:30?!) when one works and lives across town, it’s virtually impossible to pick up Rx on time. But they got an extra star for supposedly transferring my Rx to another place. We shall see. Another reason I’m annoyed is they don’t take the pre-paid benefits card after telling me they were working on it since Jan. It’s October. Hmm. Not holding my breath.
