Dr. Avashia is fantastic! Front office staff… eh…more difficult:(I had previously heard the complaints about the front office staff, but my hubby and I needed to find a doctor, so I handled it. It took a few tries to initially get scheduled and some rudeness from the part of the office staff, but we eventually got in. We have both been big fans of Dr. Avashia, herself, and her follow-ups with us. However, yes, it is difficult to schedule and deal with the front office. So far nothing terrible on our end, just a bit of a pain trying to get our follow up scheduled and get through the line with anyone who doesn’t sound too curt, but hey, I figure as long as we can eventually schedule and get in to see Dr. Avashia, I’ll deal with it! The doctor is great and really what both my husband and I have been looking for. She follows up on her recommendations, she is very thorough and we both couldn’t be happier about it. She has great bedside manner, listens… all in all, a plus! If you can handle the front office staff, you’ll be happy with the results… but I completely understand how that would put someone off and, unfortunately, how Dr. Avashia may lose some potential patients because of it. For now, we’re happy, and until we are really put off, we’ll keep going!

UPDATE: 11÷6÷1411AM: So, my husband calls me to tell me that his 8am appointment had been cancelled according to the front personnel at Blackstone. WHEN? So, I called talked to the scheduler and she goes on to tell me that my husband dint show up and then noticing that I am getting irate, goes on to tell me that there is a ‘glitch’ and that the manager will call me. It’s 2:20 and I just got a call from the doctor’s assistant, after I had requested that I would rather just get a phone call to discuss results. I went ahead and told her what had happened(to my husband’s appointment earlier today) To which she replied, ‘it wasn’t their problem’. So, I further explained to her that in fact it is a problem for them since I am finding another doctor for the family and she then replied ’ it’s okay’. So, this is the end of my dealing with unproductive and ineffective administration. Although, it’s not the doctor’s problem per se. We are her patients and some courtesies are pertinent to maintaining doctor-patient relationships. PAST:The doctor is 5 star diminished by her crew specifically one of her few schedulers, the undelightful, unhelpful, rude, Valerie. After being so careful in choosing the best doctor for my children, finally got them under her care. She is thorough and well-regarded. I am so satisfied that I got my husband and myself scheduled to do our well-check with her. Until today, regretfully, I had to cancel those appointments. This wasn’t the first time Valerie, the scheduler at Blackstone Family Health Center, had been curt and rude with me. The first time I tried to make a New Patient appointment for my 2 children, Valerie told me that she doesn’t have time for my questions since she has other people to attend to. She told me this, less than 3 minutes to the call, after she put me on hold for 30 minutes. I had let the first incident with her slide because of Dr Avashia’s reputation. Today, I had to call to inquire on the status of my son’s referral to a cardiologist. The only option available to me is is to talk to a scheduler(because the option for general questions doesn’t take you to be connected to anybody to talk to) and there she is on the line, with her uncharismatic and rude demeanor without skipping a beat. She never fails to just disappoint and upset. Valerie needs serious interpersonal training or needs to seriously evaluate if she even likes dealing with people or Dr Avashia is just going to continue to lose new and prospective patients. Like she had prospectively with me and my husband and soon, my two sons.
