Awesome experience! Everyone was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend using Austin Vision Center. The exam was extremely thorough and the staff was precise with taking measurements, going over the costs and making sure that I was pleased with the frames and lenses. As stated in other reviews, this is indeed a high end optical center and worth every penny! A huge thanks to the entire staff for proving that good customer service isn’t a thing of the past. :-)

Really good place! I have had real trouble finding a good optician. There are plenty around but in North Austin good ones are hard to find. I have tried Signature Eye Care in Cedar Park but: their strange hours(only open 4 days per week); their absolute obsession with marketing themselves and all the corny business which goes along with that(just call you will see what I mean) and the fact that they made numerous mistakes on my glasses sent me elsewhere. I tried Santa Fe Optical who was unbelievably expensive and made me felt like they were doing me a favor by speaking to me. Then I tried River Place Vision Center(review found below) and they were the worst optician I had ever visited. So I tried Austin Vision Center at Four Points. Simply put: nice place; good selection of frames; very helpful staff, a little on the expensive side but all-in-all the best I have found in four tries in Austin.

The staff was helpful, and got me in quickly. They also have a beautiful collection of frames and it took me a while to decide, but the staff was patient and let me try on basically every frame they had;)

These people were both incompetent and arrogant. My order was repeatedly bungled by them. How do they stay In business?

I received super fast, friendly service both at the front desk and from Dr. Marshall. I was impressed by the fact that during my exam, they offered several alternatives for viewing the retina. Dr. Marshall let me know that at my age, I didn’t need the $ 40 upgrade yet. They could have just told me I did and upcharged me over what my insurance covers like another vision center just a mile away on 2222 did to my husband. So their good business practices and integrity win kudos from me. I went in for my yearly exam and didn’t need to buy glasses or contacts, so I can’t comment on prices, but if you pay extra, it’s probably worth it just for the friendly service.

I have gone here for 2 years now. My husband had been going here before we got married so I didn’t question it, I just went. As Tara M. states in her review, «this is a high end optical center with nothing under 500.00 including lenses.» She is correct. Customer service is friendly and it is everything one would expect from a «high end» vision center. But high end doesn’t mean nickel and diming people either. People who go here are well off because they are smart with their money. Having said that, here is the research I conducted. We have VSP insurance. Austin Vision– colored contacts for austigmatism-$ 100 a box. My order would be $ 800 for 6 month supply. Glasses– despite our insurance covering the lenses, there is a 20.00 handling fee. VSP Doctor 1 in BeeCave– Contacts cost $ 80 a box and there is no 20.00 fee and the same story with 3 other most high end places. Hmm, so naturally I will not be going back nor will the husband. I got my contacts for way cheaper and the husband got his glasses as well.

I’ve had a NIGHTMARE of an experience with this optical shop. I spent ~$ 600 on a pr of RX sunglasses which they had to re-cut 3 times for various reasons and they do not fit. They tricked me into the 3 pr so they could keep my $!! I tried to call it quits after the first pair! When I told a friend of mine about it, here is what she had to say: I bought a pair of glasses there years ago, and I thought they did a bad job. Only decent opticians in town are at Santa Fe. Clearly, this place has gone downhill. Take your $ and your RX elsewhere!

We took my daughter for eye exam to see why she has trouble reading, skipping words. Doctor Hruby took that opportunity to criticize, put down, and insult our choice in schooling kids at home. Immediately after learning that we home school our kids, his attitude changed and he became rude and irritable, and even rudely and forcefully pushed the head of my daughter when she couldn’t sit still. With his behavior and attitude, he upset us and our daughter, who came out of the office afraid. My daughters own words were«he was not very nice to me». Scott A Hruby O. Located in the Four Points shopping center on the corner opposite HEB — that’s 620 at 2222 for anyone who is not familiar with the area. This is a high-end optical center with nothing under 500.00 including lenses. But the selection and service is worth every penny. I actually found them by googling Matsuda Austin as I was looking to replace my Matsuda frames I had lost. They did not have Matsuda in stock but since I knew the style number they were able to call and verify that Matsuda had discontinued my favorite frames but they had 2 left in stock. Unfortunately I could not afford the much desired Matsuda frames which would have been around 700.00 with my lenses; since, I was actually there for sunglasses. They have a great selection of women’s over-sized Oakley frames which is what I decided on in a plastic tortoiseshell frame. I absolutely love my new sunglasses! The service is absolutely fantastic from the eye exam to the frame selection to the final fitting. They even called several times to apologize for the delay in getting my glasses in — they have to send them to the manufacturer. I did have to wait about a month so if you are in a hurry I would recommend Lens Crafters instead. But, if you can wait for a fancy pair of glasses to decorate your face I highly recommend this place. Its local owned by a husband and wife and they also have a Tarrytown location for those who do not live up North.
