Man oh man. My buddy and I descended onto this course for the first time Monday. FIrst of all, it was around 3PM and the only other people there were finishing up. This course is pretty darn hard and they have pro and am boxes. Some of the boxes were a little hard to find but no worries. They even have two bonus holes! This place is like a fusion of Searight and Circle C times steroids. My buddy was totally dialed in and shot a 3 under and I shot a 12 over, which is about my average at Searight. Both of us nearly Aced 18 but it was probably my best drive EVER. Literally 2 – 4 feet from the basket. Great times.

Unilocal has the location wrong on the map. The church is at Bee Cave Road(FM2244) and Cuernevaca. Go north on Cuernevaca and the entrance is on the right. The disc golf course is insanely difficult. Today I quit after five holes. So why do I give it four stars? I’ve been before and had a lot of fun playing. I was off today, and chose to go for a walk to the top of the hill. It wasn’t far, but it was a challenge. The Backyard at the Ridge is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

No change to my star-review. I did want to add that after playing the course more, I’ve been surprised at how few discs we have actually lost. I lost a disc my first time through but, knowing the course better now, I think I could have found it. Also, hole #6 is fairly memorable(and quite difficult). I suspect some of the later holes would also be memorable but sadly they are still closed(as of 6÷28÷10), but the church’s website says they should be re-opened soon. Still definitely one of the best courses in Austin, even without the last five holes. When they open up I think we’ll really have a championship-level course on our hands. This course definitely makes you step up your game.

This is one of the newest premier courses in the Austin Area of 2009. Heavily wooded, and many elevation changes. Public welcome on church property — also hiking, biking and picnic area. Lost and found in church office. Designer; John Houck. Bring your hiking boots, water, camera, love of the outdoors, and the memory that Disc Golf is FUN! I say that last line because the beauty of the course, and it’s «lines» is a great risk & reward course that pays well. But if you don’t hit them correctly, then you will forget about the«fun» and then learn the need for anger management(lol). It is 20 holes of great Cypress trees and mulch pads. The water does come into play on the holes early. and at the end on Hole#18, bring your«retriever» since you are throwing over a pond, and if you get wet; it is DEEP. All in all, an average group of 3 – 4 players hitting their«lines» can complete the 20 holes in about 2.5 hrs. If you hit trees, you will have a long day. Personally, I landed in a group of trees, and the best shot I had was to throw BACK to the Tee box. argghh. Everyone loves a challenge, and the diversity this course has to offer. I play casually, and competitively; my game has improved with a variety of shots that this course allows you to try and make. Give the course a try, clean up after yourself, and thank those that helped develope teeh area into a great outdoor getaway for hiking, biking, disc golf, and fun.
