Austin Kenpo Karate

We love Kenpo Karate! My 5^th grader has been a member for over a year and is still excited about it! The after school program has been a godsend for us with our crazy schedules, but more importantly it has been a happy place for her to grow and learn. Sifu Shroeder holds the students to high but fair expectations. My daughter gets her exercise, she learns some self-​discipline, and she gets her homework started. It’s a good package!

Austin Kenpo Karate has been awesome for my son. He has been in the after school and summer programs just over 2 years. Sifu Shroder really knows how to work with the kids and keeps it fun while maintaining solid expectations. My son has committed himself to the program and has been advancing at a good, steady pace.
Sifu Shroder does a great job of keeping the program interesting with different summer activities. This is our first experience with martial arts programs. Now that we have moved, it will be difficult to find another program that comes close. Sifu has offered to work with us to find ways to continue training with him.

When I came on to post a review, I read of someone else’s negative experience. That must have happened on the first day of school, when some schools changed the location for after-​school programs to pick up kids, and there was a huge delay in the route. I know how frustrating that must have been for all the van drivers; it certainly was for Sifu Schroder. I can’t speak as to what transpired between individual parents and Sifu, but I know he immediately sent out an email to everyone, explaining the situation, apologizing for the inevitable delay, and assuring us that it was a one-​time occurrence.
As for the after-​school program, this is the second year my son has participated. He is a huge fan! If he didn’t have other after-​school activities during the week, he would be there every day. In addition to the discipline and physical rigors that you would expect in a martial arts program, he loves the camaraderie and the warmth that characterizes the aura of the place, an aura established by Sifu Schroder.

Sifu Schroeder is such a wonderful person & an excellent teacher. I enrolled my son just over a year ago & he absolutely loves it there. His confidence & self esteem has blossomed & I am amazed at his discipline.
Sifu goes out of his way to develop close relationships with his students & their families. We love the school gatherings… pumpkin carving contests at Halloween & the Christmas party is always tons of fun.
I have had the pleasure of working closely with Sifu in his after school program this year, helping out with the kids & website issues & I can tell you that the time & attention he gives to these kids after school is just unmatched in any program I have seen. He is definitely a wonderful role model & I would trust him 100% with my son in any situation… & that is not something I take lightly.
