When I want to impress or treat some one I love with something special, I come here and get a dozen/half dozen. I’m not sure what it is about cake balls that just makes someone feel really special. It’s like each little ball is a present. Yes, they are not cheap, however have any of you tried making cake balls? It is horrible. The absolute worst. So I am happy to give these ladies my money and take home my cute cake babies. I recommend following their website for coupons and also keeping track of your tins. There is a discount for refilling a tin. PS: Mexican Chocolate is my absolute favorite, I have eaten a dozen of them with no shame.

Austin Cake Ball is the place everyone needs to go. Visiting from New York, amazing desserts made by a super talented pastry chef Brett, awesome cocktails and absolutely amazing service. Richard was our server, he had us laughing the whole time while providing excellent service. We will be back!

I was excited to try this place. The cake balls looked delicious and it was all cutely decorated. We got the Red Velvet, Strawberry and Birthday cake balls. In my honest opinion for 3 $ each it wasn’t worth it. The strawberry tasted like boxed cake mix and it was FAR to sweet. I needed milk from just that one cake ball. The red velvet was good but it wasn’t special. My toddler ate the birthday cake ball so I can’t comment on that one. They’re sweet and artificial tasting. I’m sorry but that’s my honest opinion.

This was my first visit to Austin Cake Ball so I bought a variety of six different flavors: Mexican Chocolate, German Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Red Velvet, Chocolate Peppermint, and Vanilla Bean. Each cake ball had a thick outer layer with a creamy, soft cake ball inside. My favorites of the flavors I tried were the vanilla bean and Mexican chocolate. The flavors were simple, but the vanilla came through just enough to cut through the sweet white chocolate outer layer. The cake balls were presented in a beautiful copper colored tin that held the six cake balls snug in place. I was very fond of the presentation and have used the tin multiple times since my visit.

I had to try this place as I keep driving by while at work. It’s a cute entrance and the cakeballs look awesome. I’m kinda sick of cake balls being $ 3 around town but that is the going rate. I have to remind myself that Betty Crocker put out a cake ball kit that cost $ 3 for 12 balls! I just need to do that! I tried the oreo cake ball and felt that my mom had made them better. It was pretty good overall, I can say I tried it!

I just had one from a coworker that received it in the mail and I am Googling to try to get another… DARN, why can’t you be HERE in SoFla?! Unlike some cake pops that are too sweet and all icing the cake pop was moist and tasty. I think you have to have like 2 – 3 not one! I had the chocolate one.

Got the salted caramel for my sister and mint chocolate chip for me. Also tried the birthday cake one. All are perfectly made and not too sweet. Super moist. A little on the expensive side though.

Love! love! love this place. Just visited today and the service was excellent. I had the red velvet cakeball and it is the best red velvet I have had in a while. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for something to satisfy your sweets craving.

I tried 3 small cake balls, that totaled about 10 $ and shared them with a friend. Total waste of money, the cake was more like a brownie fudge very moist(which was good) but the frosting didn’t pair well with it. It was worth a try but i definitely will not be going back. maybe a good idea for a party?

I tried Austin Cake Ball for the first time last week and was very happy I did. The person in the front was extremely friendly and told me about each individual flavor to help me decide which ones to get. I ended up getting a half dozen. My favorite flavors were: vanilla bean, birthday cake, salted caramel, and oreo. If you bring your tin in each time come, then you get a discount. Going back next week for more!

I ordered a dozen cake balls to be sent to the hotel my boss was staying at as a wedding surprise. The flavors all looked so good, I had a pretty hard time deciding on just four! Austin Cake Ball was kind enough to call me to make sure he was a guest at the hotel instead of an employee. The delivery time was estimated to be 2 hours and sure enough, my boss texted me a picture 2 hours later. Great service and I’m sure they taste amazing!

My friend from Hawaii ordered Austin Cake Balls for me when she came to visit me in Los Angeles. She said she had them before in a company swag bag but never ordered them to Hawaii because of extremely high cost of shipping. The cost of shipping to LA is still high, but not as high as to Hawaii. Either way these cakeballs are literal amazeballs. Not too sweet and very moist! My favorites in order are lemon drop, red velvet, strawberry, oreo, birthday cake. The other flavors are ok, but those are my top 5! I didn’t like the nutella one. I liked them so much I ordered a dozen tin for a friend in Houston, the shipping to Texas is not bad at all. I wanted to get her the baby faces tin but it has limited flavors, kinda a bummer. I decided to make my own tin, I picked lemon drop, red velvet, strawberry and birthday cake. Those are def must trys! Very tasty and cute! Perfect for a gift.

I’ve been stalking this place a bit. Driving by – slowing down – looking out the window — but not stopping. Maybe the same thing I do if I ever found out where Matt Bomer lives. Today, we finally caved and walked in. Life will never been the same. We’ve all had homemade cake balls at a graduation party or office party or baby shower… the cute, but poorly executed attempt at forming normal cake into spheres and covering it in icing. Honestly, I expected something similar at Austin Cake Ball. I was wrong. Very wrong. Christi greeted us – and please let me add that Christi is one of the most fantastic, funny, and helpful people I’ve ever met in Austin. She gave us the run down on ACB’s operations. Impressive! What’s more impressive is what happened in our mouths as we took bites of Red Velvet, Lemon, Nutella, Oreo, and Salted Caramel – the texture, flavor, moistness, ideal level of sweetness, and structural integrity all perfect. A food mouth orgasm, as it were. These cake balls aren’t something you’ll throw on a paper plate and serve at your kid’s third grade holiday party. These are elegant, sophisticated, and surprising. Forget cupcakes, cake, and god forbid slices of pie – I’m serving Austin Cake Balls at my next dinner party, corporate event, or grown-up birthday party! Oh yea, and these bad boys would make a PERFECT gift. Way better than flowers. :)

I went back to cake ball, still do not use gloves after touching all over the place and handling money! Yuck, yuck, yuck! Too bad, the cake balls are really yummy,

Austin Cake Balls are insanely delicious and the presentation is fantastic, making them an ideal gift item. I don’t say this lightly. Ordinarily, I don’t even like cake, so coming from me, this is serious praise. The customer service is also top notch. I think some of the reviews that are less than five stars are just quibbling over nothing. Look, this is very good stuff and very good service. And a real life saver if you are looking at the last minute to send a gift that is different from the usual flowers or what not. What’s not to like? Austin Cake Balls rock.

This is a great place to buy(slightly) overpriced sweets to give as a gift from Austin. The cake balls themselves are yummy, look great, and people seem to like them. The come in a nice tin which makes them easy to transport in a suitcase or other luggage and also makes them look like a more substantial gift than the usual plastic bag of goodies. The reason they get only 3 stars instead of 4 is because they’re disappointing as a local sweets shop. If you want to go in and get a few cake balls, they’re $ 3/each. The result is that they’re just a novelty gift shop for friends and family, not a local landmark, which is too bad.

I gave these balls a try after walking into the shop on Burnet Road and being pleasantly surprised by the looks and decoration possibilities of the cake balls. I had a baby shower planned in the near future, so decided to order the baby shower cake balls. The ordering part was quite easy, the website looks clean and is easy to navigate through. I needed 9 cake balls but they only had boxes of 6 and 12. I decided to call them to see if I could get a 6 piece box and 3 extra ones. The lady on the phone told me this was not possible. This takes 1 star off of my review. I don’t see why it is not possible to order 3 separate cake balls decorated in the same style as the ones in the box, when I order all of them at the same time. The balls really were a big hit at the baby shower. The decorations are gorgeous. However, I can’t say I was overwhelmed by the balls. For the price I paid for them, I expected something more. So the fact that these balls are so pricey, takes another star off. Overall I like cake balls, but because of the inflexibility and price I will not be going back.

I’m upgrading Austin Cake Ball two stars. It has been a bit since I tried their cake balls and there has been an amazing improvement in their cake. The cake balls I bought in store today are lighter — much less dense than before and much less dry. I’m not sure what they’re doing differently here but I like it, a lot. And they’re still beautiful, with more style options than I remember back when I wrote my first review. New stuff? Better cake? Ok… now this is what I call progress. In addition to that, they had a seasonal flavor, pumpkin spice which was incredibly good. Also, they had Mexican chocolate which has a nice kick on the back end of the cake that my husband enjoyed quite a bit. The cake balls are still a bit pricey — enough that I probably won’t do these very often and I wont’ send them unless it’s a super special occasion. Even with my three dollar off tin refill today, it still seemed like the pricing was off. So, Austin Cake Ball, thank you for improving, I for one, truly appreciate it and I think I’ll be back a little sooner this time!
