You have to try their homemade whip cream that is tuck in a secret refrigerator. To die for! No spray whip cream here. Amy’s is my indulgence at Austin airport. Located right by the Southwest gates, I always make time, even if there isn’t anytime between the sometimes ridiculous connections. The staff are great and are eager to give samples and suggestions. I love the pumpkin ice cream when it’s in season. When it’s not I like to try a little of everything. Frankly I can just have a bowl of the whip cream and some strawberries and nuts and I’ll be happy. Can’t go wrong here.

Must-have before leaving Austin! They are offering to pack for you in quarts/pints which are supposed to last 8hrs! I was trying to ask the airline if they would allow me to take it on the plane. The staff was super friendly who was willing to take a pic with the ice-package!

I was going to Orlando in March 2011 and I had a stopover in Austin. I was lactose-free at the time, so I was really excited about their non-dairy Apple/Coconut ice cream. Cute little ice cream shop in the middle of a crowded part of the airport. Other dining is located across and next to the shop. Great place to satisfy your sweet tooth before a long flight.

Despite eating my heart out while in Austin, I had to make a quick pit stop at Amy’s in the airport. The ice cream was incredible! I tried the dark chocolate and it was INNNNNCREDIBLE! Dark chocolate is my favorite, and so many ice cream places just don’t do it well. I can reassure you that Amy’s does. Check them out for sure.

Great place to stop by for ice cream. We didn’t get to try Amy’s when we were in Austin so I’m glad they have a stand at the airport which we went to before heading home. I sampled Sweet Cream which was a pretty basic sweet flavor so I went for the Mexican Vanilla and Butter Pecan. Mexican Vanilla is flavored with Mexican vanilla and it has the most beautiful flavor. No complaints about the Butter Pecan. Both flavors had a nice creamy texture.

I had the Shiner Bock, which is the eponymous beer-infused vanilla ice cream flavor! It is alcoholic(but I didn’t get carded, yay! #asianproblems) but barely noticeable. I liked the slightly hoppy and bitter flavor balancing out the sweetness of the vanilla. I recommend tasting it at the very least if you’re at the airport next time.

Mexican vanilla with strawberries and chocolate sauce hit the spot. My kid had the smores and the other had chocolate with sprinkles. Nice texture and feel as good flavors melted together.

ENVIRONMENT Located outside gate 12 in the food court area. Awesome service, the guy threw the ice cream up and caught it each time. Amazing! ICECREAM Mexican Vanilla — I usually don’t order something vanilla, but asked for the most popular flavor and I’m happy to report that it is amazing!

Ah, a welcome addition to the limited airport options. I don’t recall there being a dessert option earlier. It was quaint that they had a movie quote contest with a note that cheating would be frowned upon. I tried the Mexican vanilla that everyone was raving about which was good. I ended up getting a sundae with white chocolate and Belgian chocolate ice cream with almonds, fudge and whipped cream. That hit the spot and I slept like a baby on the flight back.

Nom, nom, nom… rich and flavorful ice cream — what can go wrong?! NOTHING! I love that Amy’s Ice Creams has a spot in the ATX airport. It makes flight delay so much better when you can walk up to purchase a delicious treat! It literally melts away your worries ;) Anyway, with so many different fresh flavors, you can always find your favorite treat!

Delicious ice cream, and conveniently located at the Austin airport! Since we didn’t have a chance to stop by Amy’s Ice Creams before arriving at the airport, I made a beeline over to the main food court area(where Salt Lick BBQ is also located) to check them out before we left for home. There was a short line but it moves quickly, and you can sample their ice cream first. I went with the Mexican Vanilla & Coffee( ) — the mexican vanilla was really good initially as a sample, but it’s on the sweet side, so the flavor gets a bit overwhelming after a while. However, the coffee was amazing, and highly, highly recommended! They have a lot of other ice cream flavors to choose from, so I would definitely come back if I have a chance.

The guy at the counter was super funny and nice. Check out my video of his cone skills! Service: 5⁄5 Food: 5⁄5 I was choosing which taster to ask for and I said«I don’t want to be that person who tastes everything.» The guy at the counter said«you’re not that person, you’re A person.» Then he gave me 3 tasters :) While I was ordering he waved at the guy who had just gotten/started eating his and asked«Is it good?» After purchasing he said«The napkins are right behind you» while pointing. I know it’s a small detail but all in all he makes the customer feel cared for. I got the blueberry crunch and it was delicious. I’d say it was little price-y but it’s in an airport(always overpriced) and it’s definitely better than other chains like BR or B&J.

At the airport and i was craving something sweet so i order a scoop of Belgian chocolate with oreos. The texture close to a custard as it is dense and creamy but over all good it was just a little too sweet for my taste hence the 4 not 5 stars and price point it was expensive for a small scoop.

With outstanding service and heart melting creamy ice cream, Amy’s at the Airport feels like a good friend. I was stuck at the airport for 8 hours, separated from my group, and feeling quite lost and alone in an unfamiliar state. Feeling a little too stressed out for a regular lunch on my marathon of a day, I decided to try this ice cream shop that I had heard was such a staple of Texas. Immediately I was drawn in by the wealth of interesting flavors posted charmingly on the wall in colorful chalk letters. I had a short conversation with the friendly staff member behind the counter about which flavor might be a good choice for my preferences. I even sampled a couple flavors to narrow down my choice. Throughout the whole process, the man behind the counter was so patient and accommodating… and downright friendly. Between his service and the heavenly melt of gingersnap ice cream with strawberries on top, my day went from chaos and stress to contentment and success.

Amy’s ice cream is great anyway, but having one in the airport is genius! It’s a good place to slow down and take a break after you’ve just juggled your bags through TSA and need to regroup. The staff here don’t seem to fling scoops around here like they do elsewhere, but really that’s just window dressing. You’re here for the food! Try the Mexican vanilla flavor, which has a rich taste almost like cake batter.(And yes there is such a thing as Mexican vanilla, as opposed to Tahitian vanilla and others.) The best thing st this location: they offer«Ice Cream on the Fly»: you can get ice cream packed to travel for 8 hours! Definitely a better representation of TX than the generic boxes of taffy that you see in every airport with a different state on the cover… so snack, relax and enjoy this Austin staple!

There a few of ice cream places I would go to if I wanted some serious ice cream, and they’re all in or around San Francisco. Effective today, I no longer have to wait for my yearly flight back home to satisfy my cravings, for I have found Amy’s Ice Creams. Not too sweet, and you can add these things called«crush’ns,»(correct me if this is spelled wrong) where they can crush several ingredients — kit kats, Reese’s, etc. — into the ice cream. They also have this fancy ice cream serving display with spatulas, which was fairly entertaining. 5⁄5 for the ice cream, but the lady that made my ice cream gave me this sort of hostile, unwelcoming, hurry-up-and-just-order-your-damn-ice-cream-now type of vibe. So knocking off one star for that. Thank goodness the ice cream was good, lady.

I came here because I was craving some ice cream before my flight back home. I spent awhile browsing the menu before choosing my order, and I wasn’t greeted at all, the people seemed tired bored and not very friendly. I ended up choosing a shake and thought it was ridiculous that they only had one size, what the fuck, what if I want a normal size drink like a 12 or 16 oz, all shakes come in a size large, which is about a pint of ice cream with whole fat milk and probably at least 800 calories. I ordered a coffee and white chocolate ice cream and it was sinfully delicious and fatty, but by half the shake I was sick of it because it was just too freaking big. I really wish they had different sizes available because I really do not like drinking that much shake, nor do I enjoy wasting food so I ended up drinking all of it.

Been dying to try this ice cream ever since I visited Austin two years ago. Finally got to try it at the airport on the way back home to Long Beach! The guy working when I got ice cream was super rad. I asked how many different flavors I could get in a large cup and he said«as many you want»…well that’s the answer I like to hear. I got the Mexican vanilla, pumpkin, and a little bit of sweet cream. delicious, delicious, delicious. Simple flavors that are done well and to a high quality degree make this ice cream a must!

I love ice cream and I especially love Amy’s homemade ice cream. While I know they are located throughout Austin it is my ritual to hit the airport store every time I am in town. It is my «special treat» for business travel. The ice cream is creamy deliciousness and right outside of Southwest Gate #12. I do love ice cream but I am a traditionalist and stick with the staples of chocolate and vanilla. While Amy’s does offer some more exotic flavors I like the basics. Amy’s milkshakes are thick and delicious too. Treat yourself to one of Austin’s finest institutions at Amy’s.

When in Austin… must try Amy’s, a local favorite. Though it reminds me of a mix between Coldstone’s and Ben & Jerry’s… * GET — Mango sorbet = fresh and light. Full of mango-y goodness. * GET — Cappucino ice cream = creamy and so good! * YES — Great selection of flavors, offers original and interesting ones. * YES — Fast, friendly service. Brain freeze right before flight home? Sure, why not.
