Vernon(Glenn) Hornsby, the owner of the service, clearly lacks even the basic understanding of landscaping. We hired him to install crushed granite, river rocks, and do a simple project(didn’t even involve plants — which he doesn’t know much about either) and he informed us he only did projects on the weekend when he wasn’t a delivery driver for one of the local Rock and landscaping supply centers. His bid indicated all the needed materials for the project, yet upon beginning the project he had over delivered the amount of crushed granite and river rock needed and didn’t have enough edging to complete the project. He then proceeded to ask for more money to buy the extra edging, which we said NO to and that it should be covered under his bid. He and a helper worked a few hours on Friday evening laying down weed barrier, without ever preparing the areas. Saturday he finally showed up after 11 am and began spreading the crushed granite before they had finished installing the weed barrier. After a few words of how things should be accomplished, they finally stopped and returned to doing what was needed first. A properly prepared area for crushed granite or river rock doesn’t require edging, as the dirt near any concrete has be to removed and a trough created to keep the granite and river rock from washing away. His solution was to install edging along the street in the common area(which causes problems for people getting in and out of their vehicles. When we asked him when he was going to install the rest of the edging(to keep the granite from washing into the river rock and both from washing down a slight slope, he said he would do that last. As a landscaper myself, everything that Glenn did was backwards and not inline with standard landscape installation procedures. We finally dismissed him from our project and are now having done correctly, all of course, at an additional expenses to us. We’re slowly progressing to finish the project on our own. The end result is basic — DONOTHIRE Glenn Hornsby to do anything regarding you Landscaping. There are many more quailitied ad trust worthy landscapers in town, so hire them and leave Glenn out to pasture. Even his website indicates services he cannot do, the photos are not of his projects(they are stock photos). If you want to have some landscaping done, please contact me and I’ll let you know of the good ones.
