This place is Awesome. The deliver really far like 5 miles. The Banh Mi are amazing. Try the mini special. :)

Was looking for brunch along SoCo and stumbled on this small Vietnamese place right by where I was staying for a few nights. I walked by initially and wanted to go further downtown to look for food, but my having not eaten for a while compelled me to check this place out. Ordered the Beef Brisket Phở and 88 Special Combo Banh Mi — I didn’t expect much because of the way the place looked, but I must admit that I got a pleasant surprise when I got my food. The Phở had a broth that was incredibly refreshing and was certainly one of the best bowls of Phở I’ve had in a while, while the Banh Mi had a bun that was extremely well toasted, providing a wonderful crunch with every bite I took of the sandwich. I was so satisfied after my meal that I vowed to come back again before I left Austin. While I didn’t manage to in the end, I certainly recommend that anyone in the area check this little café out!

My favorite bahn mi in all of Austin. Hearty serving of delicious sweet pork with cool cucumbers, carrots, fresh cilantro and spicy fresh jalapeños all on a crispy warm bun. Hot, cold, sweet AND spicy perfection!

The Phở is fantastic, exactly the same as the Olforf location. However, I plan to avoid delivery in the future. It took an hour and the 7.95 delivery fee is a little ridiculous. I’m going to stick to picking up from Oltorf. Maybe these guys will get on UberEats one day.

I normally get the Special Vegetarian Banh Mi and it’s delicious! I would definitely recommend it. However, do NOT order delivery. It was extremely disappointing. After waiting for about an hour and a half I was excited to receive my food. However, it was WRONG. It’s a good thing I decided to check my order while walking back up to my apt. They let me keep the appetizers that was mistakenly delivered to me and I do NOT recommend the spring rolls. I am currently waiting for the food to be remade and delivered to me and it has been another 30 mins. Banh Mi normally does not take this long to make. I was told the kitchen is backed up and I hope that is true. Basically, save your time and money because the delivery service sucked.

Boba tea is okay here. In my opinion it’s waaaay better at Coco Café. Service is better there as well. When we came in the lady must have stared at us for a 10 minutes before providing us with service. Likely won’t come back.

Stopped in while walking down S Congress on a beautiful stroll when I saw their advertisement in the window for smoothies. Such a sweet and friendly owner! I ordered the SoCo special with some add ins and it is delicious. Customer service was so friendly and kind that I’ll prob be back tomorrow to try out the phở… just ’cause!

Just stumbled upon this little spot down the street in my new hood. I just moved to Austin from an east cost city with a huge Thai and Vietnamese populace, where Phở restaurants are on every corner– 888 Mini Café is better then 90% of them. They don’t use fatty chunks of surprise meat in their soups and their banh mi sandwiches are served up on fresh, warm, soft yet crunchy french rolls. The cowboy banh mi, is a great non traditional twist, it’s BBQ meets Indochina, my only gripe was the banh mi could use a bit more meat in the serving portion. Though they do have a table or two this spot is mostly a take-out joint.

Not the best bubble tea I’ve had but definitely consistently good. The almond flavor is my favorite here, nice and milky. The food is good, the vegetable add on ingredients could be a little more fresh but they don’t skimp on anything. Very neat with their takeout… nothing ever missing, they always hook it up! Tasty Bahn Mi’s with nice fluffy bread. Overloaded spring rolls! Duck is always tender n tasty. They deliver… they have easy parking in front on the street and also in the back… Overall I mainly go for das Boba. They have delicious cheesecakes.

I ordered delivery on a raining day after New Year’s Day. And we were staying in this vacation house that was a guest house in the back of a house, and the driver found it without even calling me. The food were so carefully wrapped in such a convenient way, and the beef tasted so fresh and delicious. I am a little disappointed at LA now.

Just ordered takeout using UnilocalEat 24. Food was excellent. We had sandwiches, spring rolls, duck tortilla and phở. Delivered fast packaged smartly. My absolute fav were the sandwiches bc the french bread in particular was perfect. Crunchy and chewy. Cilantro and jalapeños could have had more flavor but did not matter. Everything was dynamite. Meat was tender, rest of veggies and rice noodles were fresh. This is my new fav takeout.

I can’t stand how much I love their Phở. Super easy take out, and I’m usually in and out in less than a minute. Decent prices, and as many times as I’ve been there, I’ve never been disappointed!

I ordered spring rolls and steak phở using Eat24 delivery! The spring rolls were delicious. The phở was ok, but I was confused by the option to «add vegetables» or not. I assumed all phở came with the vegetables and seasoning! I was wrong, and all I got was broth, sprouts, and basil. I am giving 4 stars because this is unusual for phở places. Make sure to add vegetables in your order. Overall, good food and timely delivery. It is a little more expensive than other phở places, but as far as Asian food in the middle of Texas goes, I was content.

I love their pork Banh Mi sandwich! Authentic, tastes great, and it always hits the spot. P.s, don’t ever go to Dang Banh Mi for a sandwich. If you want a true Banh Mi sandwich, come here or go to NG. Dang Banh Mi blows.

I really liked this place, and would occasionally go in or order delivery, but after my last visit, I’m afraid to go back. Within days of going my credit card company emailed me to verify that I had truly intended to leave the tip amount that I did, when I looked at the amount I knew it wasn’t what I had left, and someone increased it. This has never happened to me before anywhere. I had to call my bank, and call 888. They’re refunding me the difference, but wow. What an experience. It was a huge inconvenience, and troubling overall.

The grilled pork Banh Mi(add egg) is the tastiest I’ve had in south Austin. Phở is good too. Convenient location, decent prices.

Love the phở. Top notch. And well packed for takeout. The pork dumplings are solid, but not amazing. The pork egg rolls are blah. The spring rolls with grilled pork are fantastic.

It’s really cheap, the Phở kit is delicious, though I wish it would’ve been spicer. The portions are super generous! We ordered shrimp spring rolls too, which were great. We spent 12 bucks for a lot of food and the take out was super fast. Ready in less than 15 minutes!

This is a great place for a Pan-Asian bite. I like it, for one, because it’s much closer to us than the mother spot on Oltorf. The options are limited compared to, but that’s why they call it «Mini 888», right? You can get Phở, Noodle Soup, Spring Rolls, and some other things. Unlike the big 888, you order at the counter and they bring it to you when it’s ready. I opted for the Shrimp Noodle Soup and it came out piping hot and fresh, and had some extra veggies in it like I requested. We also got Shrimp Spring Rolls which were also nice and fresh tasting. The peanut sauce is perfect for dipping. The only request would be more veggie options. I would LOVE if I could get the Veggie Noodle Soup there! The staff was super friendly and had big smiles throughout our experience. I’d definitely go there when I’m craving some soupy-comfort and don’t feel like driving to Oltorf!

Thanks to @Eat24 I had some lunch delivered to me. I went for the steamed pork dumplings. Very traditional, but the portion was definitely considerate. I also had the grilled pork Bahn Mi sandwich. Soo but sooo flavorful and good. It was dressed with a delicious sauce, and accessorised with carrots, cilantro, cucumber, I think jalapeño and a generous amount of pork. It had enough spiciness to it, and I could not stop eating it. It could definitely be split between two people! I tried the Vietnames Iced coffee, and although it was good, it’s just not my style.

I was initially hesitant to come here, given the star rating, but I am glad I did. Many of the commenters said that the employees here are rude. That is certainly not the case. The employees here are very nice and respectful. Given that much of the staff seems like they may have grown up in Vietnam, there are some cultural differences on how they interact with customers(i.e. They aren’t doting on you). The food I ordered(phở) was also prepared very quickly and is very delicious! I do think the meat in the phở was a bit rough, but otherwise, I’m not sure you’ll find better phở in Austin for this price range.

Had a grilled chicken banh mi here about a month ago. It was the most expensive banh mi i’ve ever had, but it was huge and the bread was awesomely toasted n tasted great. The chicken was also pretty outstanding. I wont be here all the time, because of the price. But, I have already returned more than once. I’m sold.

If you work hard for your money, and don’t mind spending it, along with a dining out experience, on poorly microwaved food, then this is your place. The mindset of the owners is this: it’s a restaurant that serves banh mi, phở, and some other Vietnamese dishes situated on Congress, within a stones throw from some very iconic shopping. We’ll overcharge for food that we cook in large quantities, microwave it as customers order it, strip down the finished product to bare essentials, and people will still give us business. Mostly because the people who visit us don’t know better and/or have no better choices around unless they want to drive 20 minutes to 183/Lamar for much better, authentic Vietnamese food. Banh Mi sandwich: If you’ve had the real thing, you’ll know instantly this is a crying shame of an attempt. No care for balance, freshness, taste, or authenticity. What they do succeed in is checking the boxes. Call it banh mi? Check. Offer it on a medium sized baguette? Check. Put Vietnamese style grilled pork on it? Check. Put some typical veggies on it? Check. Hey what else should a consumer want? They want the banh mi? Banh mi has these main characteristics, we checked the boxes, here customer. You pay me $ 8 for something North Austin sells for $ 3, and you enjoy your banh mi sandwich. Spring Rolls: Again, balance. Stuffing the roll full of lettuce to get around how little meat you put in doesn’t quite justify the price. Phở: Ok, the broth was decent. Everything else, not so good. Noodles were tough. For the phở experts, do you know when you get that spoonful of just the right amount of stuff? Some broth, flavored to your liking, with some meat, and some noodles? Then as you devour that spoonful of goodness, it goes from some light chewing of the meat and noodles directly into your belly. Ah, perfection. Well, scratch that with the noodles here. You’ll have to make like a beaver and hacksaw the noodles between your top teeth and bottom lip to get over how tough the noodles are. So yea, congrats to the owners for being successful with a poor effort of serving what they pass as Vietnamese food. I do understand not being able to cook food fresh as it would interfere with the cooks and owners lounging around talking. Hope your microwave doesn’t break down soon.

Sign me up for these spring rolls any day. The Bahn Mi with brisket is to die for and the ‘Phở Kit’ is a very cleverly named hangover cure. This is a fun spot to bop into for the myriad sugary treats offered like cake pops and frozen yogurt and this is my dedicated spot for a delicious boba tea. Best thing about this place: they deliver and they deliver quickly.

This is the first time in the history of bahn mi, or any eating happening outside of the house, where I was not finicky about the meat I was eating. I guarantee you this is a good thing. The 888 Mini special was delicious. We got it with pork and it came loaded with a lightly fried egg, a slice of tofu, and some deliciously flavored pork. I kept waiting for that moment when you take a bite and know something terrible has happened. A tendon bite, if you will. Even a fatty bite. Or a squishy, wtf-was-that bite. Nope. None of that happened, just smooth sailing/biting. I can confirm the pork spring rolls are a delight and that the taro bubble tea, albeit a bit icy in the last half, was yummy. For two pork spring rolls, a bubble tea, a Vietnamese iced coffee, and the 888 mini special(it wasn’t mini, it was just called mini after the Café) it was $ 22. Not terrible and a great snack for 2 people.

Is this connected to the 888 on Oltorf? That’s what I expected when I ordered from here. Should NOT have gotten my hopes up. Blahhhhhhhh. Makes me sad. Ordered online and the food took an ungodly amount of time to arrive so that was kinda like… :/ I was expecting my veggie phở to be like the veggie phở at 888. BIG portion, fresh ingredients & condiments, delicious broth… NOPE! OPPOSITE! Just view the pix. Everything looked so sad and pathetic. The broth was a pathetic excuse for veggie broth. I was soooooooo disappointed. I feel like I wasted my money and I hate that. Especially when I already feel guilty getting food delivered to me. Plus this phở was more expensive! Waaahhhhhhh if this IS connected to the 888 on oltofrf then… DUDE. GUYS! GETYOURSH*T TOGETHER. WHYDOESYOURVEGGIESPHOSUCKSOMUCHBUTTATTHISLOCATION?! You make me sad and angry. Okay okay okay now i must say again, was expecting the quality of the other phở and so this review should just be taken as a review on their veggie phở. which was too expensive and not good quality. I have to admit the avocado spring rolls were effing fantastic. i do not have a pic because i ate them instantly.
