Had the worst experience with Dr. Halwig this morning. Bedside manner was horrible, and I still don’t have all the paperwork I need to get my allergies tested via bloodwork even after dropping $ 60 for a copay… I guess if your not sitting for the scratch test, he’s just not concerned. I hope you all have a better experience, but I won’t be back to see this guy!

I have been going to this clinic for a couple of years now. After finding out that I am allergic to just about everything on the chart. :(But never fear, there is still help for those of us that are allergic to air, grass, food, trees and or pavement. I say this because after a couple of years of weekly shots(3 shots per week) I can actually go outside and walk in the grass without having a face mask on. Now there are still certain things that I can’t do, like cut the grass, trim the trees, till the yard for my garden, make boxes for my raised garden. You know all the things that I think my roommate should do, usually fall under the«Man My Allergies Won’t Allow Me To Do That!» list. LOL! So now that I am feeling much better, I can hike, walk my dogs, go fishing again, lay on a blanket in the grass, go to the botanical gardens, or even sit next to someone eating peanuts. I still need to take some type of allergy medicine EVERYDAY if I want to make sure that I avoid any allergic reactions but it is a blessing to be able to smell or touch something and not stop breathing or have some sort of skin irritation from doing what normal people do every day. PSA…I can NOT Eat things that I am allergic too. However, I can at least be near those foods now as they cook or as other people around me eat them and not fear having a respiratory issue. I owe it all to the kind people here that make sure I get my shots, and that I am not having a bad reaction to my weekly shots. I should tell you that I have had a bad reaction 3 times to my shots in the past 2 years. Luckily they have a doctor on call that will ask you a few questions and see if you need to rush to the ER or if you can just take some Zyrtek and try to relax until the symptoms pass. You do not make appointments for your shots, but you do need to make an appointment if you need to see a doctor. There is another location in Douglasville, so I go between the two depending on what time I get home.

I suffer from spring and fall allergies as well as asthma that I had been attempting to manage untreated with little success which lead me to begrudgingly make an appointment with Dr. Galina at the Atlanta Allergy & Asthma Clinic. After a significant wait I went back to talk to Dr. Galina about my symptoms, he recommended a series of asthma and allergy test which were performed in the office, prescribed me the necessary asthma and allergy medication and recommended I start getting weekly allergy shots. Two things I didn’t like about the visit:(1) Dr. Galina could have a more pleasant bedside manner but I will admit that I prefer a female doctor so this may be more of a perception on my part and(2) the appointment was far longer than I expected. After factoring in the long wait before my appointment and after(for monitoring my reaction to the allergy test) my appointment had exceeded four hours. The great part though is that I feel a ton better, I know exactly what I’m allergic too and I have the medicine and a plan of action to treat it. I am itchy-eyes, scratchy-throat, and chest –wheezing free thanks to AA&A! I would recommend them if you suffer from allergies or asthma; they’ll get you feeling much better.
