I have been driving past this place for some time and never really paid attention until I started having Torta cravings. Like Mary Jo states this place was spotless and they have added some new additions to their freezer — i.e. an assortment of frozen bars — mango, cookies and cream etc, maybe it is a summer thing. I ordered an Adobado Torta and looked forward to my new find. I loved the roll that it came on but was not overly impressed by the filling. Unlike some of the other torta places I have tried where each ingredient is distinct and added to the whole, this torta was just a mish-mash of flavors. But I can now say I have tried this place and move on to the next.

I found this place totally out of the blue looking for the best burrito in town. Lo and Behold, I tried the Torta(which was pretty good) and took a Menudo(this red soup with tripe) to go. I remember eating menudo when I was a kid back in Brazil, and it brings back very good memories. The menudo here is a little more bland than I remember, but it’s still pretty good. This is trully a hole in the wall and probably my new favorite mexican restaurant. It looks like crap from the outside, and the inside is kinda hectic(cuz they are a little short on staff). So getting your order might take awhile, but it’s worth the wait, I think. I must come back again for the Menudo and perhaps I’ll try the Burritos or Enchiladas.

El Chino is the small blue and white building on Montview with the big taste treats inside. Not only is it a taco and torta joint, they serve jugos naturales including smoothies, fresh fruit juices, and malted milk with fruit. The also serve a great looking banana split. In the freezer are deserts of flan and jello/fruit cups. The place is spotless clean. I have come to El Chino for my breakfast burritos in the past but today it was the $ 3.99 evening special of either 4 tacos or 1 torta and a soda. I went with the asada tacos. As I waited, I watched a Mexican soap opera and again noticed that this place is spotless. I also took note that Horneados is the Mexican word for Cheetos and filed that away in my vocabulary for future use as I have a Cheeto addiction. I took my dinner to a meeting and enjoyed half of it. The asada was good but the pieces of meat were cut a bit too large and with a bit more gristle than I prefer. I had filled two small containers with salsa and limes to add to the flavor; however, this meat was already flavorful and there was a smear of smashed avocado across the top of each taco. El Chino is just another of the many taco places around town serving very affordable and tasty meals.
