Perhaps it’s my American ignorance of Mediterranean cuisine but I couldn’t finish my meal I had to ask for a refund had a few bites flavorless food and meet and went across the street to another Mediterranean place they graciously did not want to charge me but we’re not terribly friendly either. I was the only one in there at high noon at lunch which worried me when I walked in but I’m adventurous so I tried it anyway not a great experience.

Honestly much better than I expected. The grilled meats we had were quick delicious, the chicken was pretty lime — y but overall quite good. The rest of the food was bland overall, lentil soup, hummus and rice. Salt helped a lot, the hummus was extremely chick pea-y. These reviews seem a little over harsh, i will be back again for kebabs.

Unfortunately this was my first meal I had at this resturant and it would be the last as they served me a meal grilled meat cooked several days ago and stored in the freezer . When i ordered the meal the grilled meat taste strange. I told the manager and he admitted that they cook the meat(kuftah) And keep it in freezer as frozen dinner ??? Could not believe what i was hearing. I thought I was having fresh meal . Thank God I did not have food poisoning . I paid and left never go back . And did not apologize to me . Never had such experience in my life . Temeem

Stopped by for takeout after work today. There was a group of men sitting at a table on the east side of the restaurant. They all stopped what they were doing to glare at me when I pulled up. I wasn’t dressed immodestly, I was wearing a dress with dark gray leggings to my ankles and the neck line of my dress went up to the base of my neck. It was obvious that the men did not want me there. As I pulled out to leave, they continued to glare. It was extremely uncomfortable and I will never return to this establishment.

I stumbled across this place and went in with my girlfriend. We ordered a falafel and shawarma sandwich. The order took about 20 minutes for the order. The taste was awful. The falafel had no taste and the shawarma tastes like boiled chicken. Do not go here.

What can I say, I was excited to give it a try, seemed to be inviting from the outside. Once inside several people were there, friends and family. Mainly men talking on their cell phones. We were the only actual customers, I felt as though we put the owner off by being there. Waiting 20 minutes for 2 small meals. More family members came in, one of them actually brought us our food. We paid and left.

First time we went here, it was CLOSEDONSUNDAY! Second time around, I went here with my parents, Z and her son for Lunch on Wednesday June 5th2013. Time was about 12:50hrs ish. When we first entered there are several patrons dining in on the Left Wing of this establishment. We sat ourselves on the Right Wing of the establishment, nearest to the Main Door. A big mistake I guess, coz that afternoon was a little chilly for my parents. We have to order at the counter, and some of the items listed on their PAPERMENU was«scraped» off. aka NOT-LISTED. The Menu on the Board was in the process of «existence» since this establishment are still NEW in town. From the PAPERMENU, personally its limited for my taste bud, but we are lucky enough to have options for that afternoon. Here were the items that we ordered that afternoon : * Chicken Shawarma Sandwich — Z’s order($ 4.99) * Kabob Ground Meat — My parents Main Entrée($ 12.99) * Shish Marinated Steak — My Main Entrée($ 12.99) * 2 Fountain Drinks($ 1.49) each —($ 2.99) The Shish Marinated Steak, that I ordered was a little«interesting». For one, Tarboosh, grilled Onions, Bell Peppers and A Clove of Garlic with the Meats. The Flavor was there. I like the Flavors of the Rice that comes with my Main Entrée. Flavorful but something was indeed missing, I whisper. With this Main Entrée, you get Hummus with Pickles and a few Garbanzo Beans and Salad on the side. The Salad looks like Fattoush coz the Salad comes with Fried Pita Chips which were cut into tiny chewable squares and Mixed Vegetables. What will make this dish shine is a little touch of Harissa aka Hot Chili Sauce that was indeed missing, I whisper again in my heart. All the Main Entrees comes with Pita Bread on the side. The service from Tarboosh was a little Lukewarm for my liking. But all in all, my parents and Z like the food that they had for Lunch. To return, YES but NOT in a hurry. Maybe, I’ll call them in advance if they can provide a full menu for Hubs & I. Please do take note, their website online is NOT updated as yet, and this establishment ISNOTOPENON SUNDAYs. Now listen people. I know you all were beside yourselves when Lenny’s Sub Shop abruptly shut its doors and moved out of the Havana Street Business Improvement District. Well, take a load off Fannie, ‘cos I’m about to fill you in on the delicious Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurant now occupying that space — Tarboosh(sometimes colloquially known as My Tarboosh). The owners have spared no expense on accoutrements to brighten up the large dining room, including comfortable booths(gaily embroidered in red, black, and white), a sizable hookah(waterpipe) in one corner, and many examples of the cylindrical tasseled cap — also known as a fez — from which the eatery takes its name. Why, there’s even an oven shipped directly from Lebanon towards the back! And luckily, the food is similarly worthy of accolade. Why not begin with some Tabbouleh? This salad of bulghur wheat, tomatoes, scallions and lots(and lots) of parsley is sure to perk up your palate. Alternatively, you can sample their rice-and-herb-packed grape leaves(Warak Enab), or spiced ground beef wrapped in a bulghur crust, then fried(Kibbeh). Yes, you certainly could opt just to nosh on a selection of starters(traditionally called Mezzeh) but then you’d miss out on some very nice main dishes, which I’m just about to mention! Shawarma — succulent marinated and grilled meat — is a popular favorite in much of the Middle East, and at Tarboosh you can sample tender, juicy slices of either steak or chicken served with a very colorful array of cucumbers, tomatoes and turnips, as well as rice, bread, chickpea dip(Hummus) and some truly, um, potent garlic sauce(Toum). But if shawarma isn’t quite what you had in mind, you could most definitely do a kebab with one of the same moist meats I just discussed. And if you come at just the right time you might even get to try their spice-rubbed rotisserie chicken, or indeed Lahmajun(meat-topped flatbread). Don’t forget some lemonade or Laban(rich yogurt drink) to go alongside! Yes, this is another feather in the Havana Street District’s cap, so don’t be a stranger — My Tarboosh will also be yours before you know it.

I came here on Sunday and they were closed, but the owner was around and she gave me a menu. I returned for lunch later during the week and she remembered me. Delicious tea and sandwiches. The menu, the restaurant, the service, and the food made me feel like I was back in Doha.

This place is so comfy, good & friendly. Order, take a seat relax & soak in the good mojo this place offers. I entered the place hoping for a «authentic» fast food bite. After adjusting my expectations. I ordered 4 apps and a combo plate. $ 35.00 later I had a feast! a feast delivered with goodness. You know how sometimes you can taste the love in the preparation? I tasted the commitment to quality. I believe this food is good not to please the diner but more a matter of «character» in the kitchen. This food has integrity. I LOVE that. As I sit back on the comfy bench with my pillow; what did they do? They bring me a cup of mint tea presented on a beautiful tray. They were in no rush for me to leave and neither was I. The meats are perfectly seasoned, prepared sides are great. You can spend $ 5 for a sandwich or go big with the $ 15 combo plate. Please when you visit this place be nice. They deserve success and I hope we the dining public don’t jade them and turn them into grumpy, frustrated owners. Side note… This place is CLEAN! clean, clean. Thank you.
