The choriqueso tacos are dynamite! That’s chorizo, with bubbly baked chihuahua cheese, in a taco. I’m usually not a fan of chorizo, but these tacos changed that. The steak tacos were very good too. Mondays are $ 1 tacos! Taqueria El Tio is a comfortable restaurant with plenty of tables if you want to dine-in. Of the many tacquerias in the area, this one has the best seating for a casual dinner. This restaurant is in downtown Aurora, so street parking is your only option. We didn’t have any problems, but depending on the time of day, you might have to walk a block out of your way. Service was OK, I expect a language barrier in small, family owned tacquerias, but one lady had a lot of trouble using the cash register and it took us awhile to pay for our meal. Skip the guacamole, it was just OK. Enjoy the green salsa with the complimentary chips instead! I would happily buy a bottle of this for at-home consumption if that were an option. Jalisco is still a favorite of mine, but the choriqueso tacos are totally unique to Tacqueria El Tio.

I ordered my usual, two lengua tacos, one cabeza taco, and menudo. Excellent. Every time I come here, my meal is consistently delicious. The lengua was steamy, tender, ingredients in harmony, and it went down like heaven. The cabeza was smokey, mildly sticky, and tender. Familiar and great texture. I’m picky about my menudo and I honestly think they have one of the best out there. Their cilantro is cut to attractive and fresh tiny bits. The meats are added in the soup at the right time and the other ingredients have been cooked to perfection before serving. The sides are adequately portioned. The staff are always smiling and greeting me like a superstar. And they are careful and quick to take my order making sure nothing goes wrong. I always have good food and a good chat here with friends. Love it.

Delicious! Upon being seated, we were delivered a fresh basket of chips and 3 different salsas. The green one was amazing! I had chicken tacos with rice and beans and it was all great. I couldn’t even clean my plate and was so full!

A return visit. These folks are certainly nice! Great customer service. I visited late Monday afternoon for a Taco Dinner. When I went to pay, I got a good surprise… Monday must be taco for a dollar day. The meal got cheaper, how often does that happen? I got two Carne Asada and one Al Pastor. I think the Al Pastor was the bigger winner. I suggest it highly I also loved the Chipotle salsa in the squeeze bottle — very tasty!

One star for decent taco prices and one for friendly service. Meats are greasy and salsas lack flavor.

Went back today and continue to love the food here. Today was the steak burrito dinner. So huge could finish half. Meat has a great seasoning to it. Yes the chips and salsa are superb. Wife loves the chicken tacos from here. She must it’s the 3rd time in the last 3 months she’s ordered them. Friendly staff and quick service add to making this a great Mexican dining experience. I’ll try the fajitas next visit.

Great local taco place, with plenty of parking around. Just north of the restaurant their is a city lot that you can park in. I always get the tacos, but the chicken is the best! Salsa is a little thin for my taste, but still good. Each table gets a basket of chips and salsa to start. Went with a big group once, and they have enough table space to sit groups of eight.

Tios tacos is a top destination on a Monday afternoon. They offer dollar tacos on Mondays which makes it a go to dining joint for people craving delishious tacos for a steal! There Al Pastor is cooked on a spinning rotisserie which makes it pretty authentic, and tasty. The waitresses are always ready to host, and provide good customer service. Tios tacos has 3 different salsas that are delivered to your table with complimentary chips.(The green avocado salsa is my go to). Go try them out on a Monday for Tacos, and again on a Saturday or Sunday for a Menudo or pozole which will not disappoint.

Aurora has a lot of options for authentic Mexican Fare. You can go to Geneva and St. Charles for fancy crap presentations. I’ve been there! This place is fun… because it’s real!

They have some of the best chips & salsa! Salsa is not too mild but not too spicy and it’s served warm. Their shredded chicken tacos are my favorite! It’s a small place if you’re looking to dine in. We usually get take out.

This will be my «go to» taco spot any time I’m in Aurora. Especially on Mondays: $ 1 tacos!!! The place is comfortable and clean. They have about 8 booths and a few tables. Chips with a warm tomato salsa, green and red hot sauces were served right away. The waitress is very nice and seems to run the place like a well oiled machine. The food is fresh and the steak quality was one of the best. Not greasy or fatty. I really enjoyed the warm salsa and the green hot sauce. I can’t wait to come back. Everything was excellent. There is no doubt about it, this place is 5 stars.

Mondays are $ 1 tacos and they’re well worth it with big portions! I had a chicken taco, one al pastor and one campechano. They were all excellent but the one that stood out the most was the chicken tacos, they were by far the best chicken tacos I’ve ever had in Aurora! And their green salsa wasn’t too hot. It was just perfect with good flavor! I think this will become my weekly Monday spot from now on! I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends! Oh yea! And I forgot to mention, they so serve alcohol! And many other goodies!

Alright, so the food here was great and it’s hard to beat $ 1 tacos on a Monday night, but there were three main things that killed Taqueria El Tio’s otherwise potentially much higher rating: –Parking blows. Maybe we came at a bad time, but we had to circle the block and park surprisingly far away for Aurora. –Insane amount of unruly children. I’m not sure what they can do about this, but the amount of kids there straight up behaving like wild animals totally killed it for me. –Definitely dirtier than your average taqueria. I know, I know, most taquerias are pretty dirty and that’s definitely part of the charm but I like the suspension of disbelief that the area my food is being prepared in isn’t gross. The area behind the cash register where all the food chills out, the salsa is doled out, and more was home to overflowing trash cans, junk everywhere, and more. That being said, if you’re in the area on a Monday night, $ 1 tacos for take out seems pretty solid. If you’re going to eat in, definitely scope to place out for kids before you over-extend by sitting down and starting to munch on the chips and salsa before realizing your mistake.
