Old Chicago

Was seated by a hostess and given menus, after that nothing! A larger group got seated after us, a server took their drink order. After 15 minutes we walked out!

Oh boy. Not a lot of bad things to say about customer service, or atmosphere for that matter, but I have a lot to say about the food…
First and foremost most of these restaurants have overwhelming dining menus. Pages stacked with dishes that barely stay on the menu… the server even said that! Per usual, I decided to chat with the server and inquire about her favorite dishes. After a bit of poking around, she concluded that her favorite was the Pesto Mac & Cheese. When the plate hit the table it looked like a gift from the gates of heaven. Long story short…
It was the exact opposite.
This mac and cheese was dry, heavily UNDERseasoned, flavorless, and packed with oodles of noodles, but where the heck was the chicken? I was awestruck at the lack of poultry in the dish and get this; they promised bacon bits in the dish but I didn’t taste one. The pesto was non-​existent as well. My tongue almost started to swell due to the salt content, so unfortunately I couldn’t even finish.
This is probably the third or forth visit I’ve had to Old Chicago over the last few years and haven’t had a good experience that I can recall…

Calamari was soooo salty pizza was overcooked and soo dry and pasta was left on heater for a long time! Horrible time

Nice place… good atmosphere… great beer! The pizza is always awesome as well as the appetizers and calzones.

Thank you Old Chicago for being completely incompetent. I went in to try to have some lunch on a Saturday. It was about 1pm and they were fairly busy, but no wait, and several open tables. We waited for about 3 – 5 for the host to get us seated. When she arrived she informed us that the kitchen was backed up so it would be about 10min before we could be seated. I asked if they were short tables or if it was just the kitchen backed up. She told me, just the kitchen, but she still wouldn’t seat us. I asked if we could just sit down and start with a beer and we would wait to 10 min or more to order. Again, we were told no. Come on. Really? You sell beer. We can’t just come in and have a beer while we wait? What is this?

This place has gone downhill since Toby left. We missed his great management. Of course, hubby has vested in world tour but waiting 18 minutes for a waitress is ridiculous. No wait staff makes eye contact. They avoid eye contact like crazy. We are sitting in the middle. Only one bartender waits on the whole bar. The whole restaurant is packed. Then, staff tells us a waiteress, who hasn’t checked in, is our designated server. Why does restaurant assign a waitress who hasn’t started her shift. Really?

We enjoy the food here and the atmosphere is good. The service however is just terrible. Not sure if it is wait staff or kitchen but it is crazy. 24 minutes to get appetizer when place was less than half full. Took 14 minutes just to get the appetizer order even placed. 38 minutes in total before any food showed up to the table. Not great. Entrees were served incomplete. Check had wrong price and things we did not order. While this location is very convenient for us it is just not a good place to go. Wondering when someone will make a difference here.

It would have been quicker had I gone back in the kitchen and whipped up our food. We were one of three tables and the food has taken 25 minutes (as I write this, we are still waiting)…haven’t seen our server since we ordered, either. Most assuredly will not be returning to this OC.

I love the pizza here, I don’t think it gets any better! Also, the beer selection is the best I have ever seen. I love how you get prizes for completing beer tours! That is honestly the biggest reason that keeps me going to Old Chicago.

I am a server and I have to say hands down the worst serves ever. I am very forgiving since I’m in the industry. This was an absolutely horrible experience. Manager was horrible as well as server. Manager was rude and unapologetic server never came back to check on us after we complained about a 45 minute wait for apps. When apps did come they were burnt and cold. Took 25 minutes to get first round of drinks. So disappointed.

Service seems to be hit or miss here. We have had great service and been ignored. It does not seem consistent.
Food is okay. Always hot. Gluten free options.
Plenty of parking behind the restaurant.
Overall a solid A-​OK.

Came in with my wife for a drink and an app tonight. Got the app sampler. Pepperoni roles were good and the Italian nachos were killer.
During my time there they refilled my soda. When the check came came they charged me for two sodas. The waitress didn’t ask if she could refill my drink, she just took it and gave me more. Who doesn’t have free refills on soda? Not a huge deal to some, but because of that I will not be returning.

Had a really good time for lunch this go around, food is always pretty consistent for us, what makes it memorable or miserable is the service.
We had Lauren (sp) this time in the bar area. She was great, a bit humorous, a little sarcastic, and kept a good eye on us.
I had wings, my wife had a wrap, both came out great. The summer beer tour was going on so I had a few of those, hopefully I remember to finish it (notorious for starting those mini’s and stopping at like 4).
Had our 3 month old with us and it was fine. Had to leave the stroller by the door but not a big deal for us.
Service to me was the highlight, i know what I’m getting with their food usually so I’ll go back, and sit in her section, if afforded the opportunity.

Food is generally avg or good. Calzones are good sized and tasty. Service is usually just ok. Plenty of beer options.

I like old Chicago. I started off with calamari, it was very tasty and really crunchy.
Waitress Michelle kinda snoty and cranky. the place is dead inside. 26 minutes for a chicken salad and a pasta dish I count 8 people seated. The cooks are on point salad is delicious. Wife got the bacon jalapeño pasta says it’s awesome but really spicy. The kitchen staff definitely would keep me coming back but not the front of the house staff.

Old Chicago is at the mall super close to me and is usually always busy with concerts on Thursday and people just wanting an easy place to eat. My friends and I went to dinner last night only a 20 minute wait. Got a booth as we ask for ! The server was very friendly and nice to us. For the matter all the staff was friendly and greeted you and thanked you ! However we did order our food the 4 of us and it took over 30 minutes to bring it to us. The table by us was there before us and revived their meal 10 before ours. Food was good and prepared correctly ! Just not many options for people like me with dairy and gluten allergies. However If you love pizza and calzones it’s defiantly a place for you !

Busy tonight, food and drink was later than expected. Decaf coffee was weak. Ciabatta with the artichoke dip was rock hard. Medium cooked craft burger, came out mooing. Chicken wings stopped by the salt lick on its way to the table. Beer is hard to mess up, so that was okay. Manager was attentive and put a rush on the fix.
Better times in the past and expected in the future of a 4 world beer tour member…

Service sucks. This is a beer joint and I’ve been waiting 45 minutes to get one? Friday night was apparently not a good choice. Drinks finally arrived and server is just about throwing them at the table. Maybe she’s pissed because I had the temerity to complain to the staff about it taking 45 minutes to get a beer. If they’re too busy I wish they’d just send us away. No verdict on the food but if it’s as fast as the beer, I’ll let you know how it is some time next week.

Pretty standard old c’s. Food is good, never had an issue here with ordering, time, any questions. we usually sit in the bar area, service is quick and actually pretty attentive for having to care for the mass of customers. This location does get full pretty quick though at peak times.

Local hang out for our family. Great beer, love the food options, and awesome service. A must stop if in the area.
