The employee at the checkout was friendly enough, but this place is absolutely disgusting. You probably need a tetanus shot after walking out. It is covered in filth from top to bottom and looks like it needed to be remodeled 20 years ago.

This store deserves no rating at all because of its store manager Mike Williams. Extremely disgraceful and pathetic customer service experienced today 9÷16÷2015. It doesn’t matter if the store has all the things you need and if the store carries the best product when the people or rather one person who is mainly responsible for the store(Store Manager) acts like a complete bully. I would recommend find yourself another store to get your work done than stepping into this store to receive the lowest level of customer service if this man has to attend to you.

Since the merge of Max and Depot the quality has suffered. Prices are too high. Today was back to school shopping. Not much useful stuff on sale. The merchandise bins at the front and center of the store contain mainly non-sale items. They also do not allow double limits for teachers any longer. The particular store in Fox Valley is not kept up well. There were serious cleanliness issues in the restroom on my previous trip to the store. I did not buy much today. Going to Staples now. Probably will never return to this store.

I’m going to admit that pretty much everything I said in my original review remains true, but over the last year-and-a-half the experience of shopping there has improved. It went from being a place I hated having to go to, to a place I don’t mind going – but I still make sure I have plenty of time if there are multiple things I need and I’m not exactly sure where they are. Perhaps because the layout NEVERCHANGES, I’ve really started to know my way around this store, finding very different things from different areas and still making my way out in less than five to ten minutes; but again, this is only true if I know where the items I need are. I still don’t like that I have to usually ask for assistance, but I’m at least grateful that I don’t have to search all over the place for someone; I usually pass a few employees as I make my way around the store, but I still don’t feel that they are interested in or interactive enough with the customer – and they’re still not particularly friendly even when they are assisting you, but at least they are more polite and not so awkward. The reasons I would go with three stars now, as opposed to two, is because they do carry a large variety of things I don’t ever think I’ll need until I suddenly do, and sometimes they do have certain items and even electronics on sale for a very competitive price, so I’ve even started coming here to check out the products and prices when I’m shopping around for electronics, and they’re even won a few times. I can also say that, while maybe not the best, the experience here over the last eighteen months has been far more consistent than it was before, and I haven’t had any negative experiences lately. Keeping that in mind, plus the fact that this place has been very useful to me, I feel a greater appreciation for OfficeMax today than I did previously.

Purchased my first new laptop with them back in January of 2014! Not only was the rep who assisted me informative(able to break down pros and cons for a non-techie), but he also helped me to narrow down to the best discount for what I needed! Office Max even kept my laptop overnight to upload Microsoft Office and Norton anti-virus for me! Fast-forward to November 2014, when I accidently cracked my laptop monitor. We DIDNOT have the cash for a new laptop, but the screen was totally blacked out and wibbly. Rather than pushing me to purchase a smaller, used laptop or something else I couldn’t afford, the rep who assisted this time helped me to purchase a $ 10 cable to connect my laptop to an old computer monitor I already had at home! I was back to work immediately! My own positive experiences aside, my husband also purchased his first new laptop with this particular Office Max. He was satisfied with the service, info, pricing, and especially with the patience and friendliness of the staff!(English is my husband’s second language, and even though he’s nearly fluent, MANY customer service reps elsewhere have heard an «accent» and been downright ignorant, impatient, and rude!) We will definitely be returning to this location for our tech needs! :)

Wow I’m glad I came here for my 2014 Eset software! Upon going to my normal place to get this software at Microcenter but after going there to find out that they only had the 2013 formula of the software which is out of date and I don’t know why they only had that and not the 2014! Anyway upon looking online to find where I could find this software and emailed someone from Eset who told me to go to Offiemax. So I ended up getting the software for 20% off with my Maxperks card! So all in all it was a great find because this software wasn’t on sale anywhere else and I needed to get this by Friday night when it expired!

We had a «we’re out of manila file folders» crisis at work. So I headed to Office Max, hoping they were right by the door, or in an aisle labeled«folders.» I just wanted this trip to be easy. Of course, nobody said anything to me until I checked out. There was a display of DIY wedding invitations by the door(I don’t know in what world those are an impulse item), and I wandered a few aisles back to the manila folders. All 658412 varities of them. It took an unreasonable amount of time to find a box of 100+ manila folders — I didn’t care what side the tabs were on. Most varities had only 1 – 2 boxes on the shelf. I’ve noticed this in the past when I’ve wanted a large quantity of photo paper, they only have 1 package on the shelf. When I think office supplies, I think BULK! The cashier seemed pretty bored. But I don’t blame him. I don’t shop for office supplies often, but I hope my boss never sends me here again.

I went in with my husband when he was looking to buy some labels and things for his business. We found what we needed eventually with no help from anyone in the store, despite the fact that we were clearly wandering around trying to find something. The only person we encountered was at the check-out and he rang us up without saying anything or even cracking a smile… totally not personable or professional. At least we found what we were looking for and it was on sale… so there’s that…
