I’ve come here by now what seems to be almost a billion times to see Dr. Matlock for a figure skating related ankle fracture. I was assessed, had surgery, and had subsequent follow up visits. I will be having a second surgery to remove the hardware installed during the former. So I’ve been here a ton of times. Wait times are about average. I always bring a book to read, especially as my appointments are usually on Friday afternoons and by that time cascading late or long appointments prior to me start to add up. The one thing I really hate about this office is how unfortunately inaccessible it is. It’s part of the Rush Copley Healthplex. It’s a huge building with a gigantic parking lot. And front and center of the building, once you walk in through the automatic doors, is a gym. For fit people who have presumably no injuries to weight-bearing limbs. To get to the orthopedist, you have to walk about a tenth of a mile to the back of the building. For me, this meant MANY long walks on crutches, which is quite literally a pain. Thankfully their office door is automatic, but the bathroom door isn’t, and it’s a very heavy door that I could not open without assistance when I was on crutches. Really, you’d think that an orthopedist would have an office that is accessible to those who have limited mobility, but… I guess the people going running on a treadmill get the priority access here.
