I’ve driven by Las Cemitas Poblanas hundreds of times, and always figured it looked a little *too* hole in the wall for me. But, like anything in life, the best food always seems to come from places like this. Today we ended up saying screw it and grabbed lunch there. Honestly, I’m still not certain what the difference is between cemitas and tortas, but we got two pastora cemitas and it blew our collective minds. If you eat there you get chips and salsa, along with an impressive spread of three great salsas. Their normal red salsa is out of this world, the orange one had quite a bit of heat that snuck up on you, and the green was also great. Our food came super fast, but I definitely could have stuck around and snacked on chips for eternity. The pastor on the cemitas was incredible, I definitely plan on trying some tacos next time we come, which hopefully will be soon. If you’ve driven by this place a bunch and similarly thought it was a little weird how it’s just a little house in the middle of a neighborhood, don’t let that stop you. We should have been eating here for the past two years instead of just driving by!

Very good tacos! Muy delicioso! We’ve been looking for a good taco place since we came from CA, and this place did pass our taste so far. I ordered steak(the best one), tripas(cooked really crunchy), and al pastor(tasty). My husband loved the cemitas, too! Great authentic, hole in a wall restaurant. You should come try it. :-)

Like others have said, Las Cemitas is a bit out of the way in a residential neighborhood on the east side of Aurora, but you won’t miss the bright yellow building. I’ve had delivery from Cemitas Puebla in the city several times, and I’m glad to find a place with similar-quality food closer to home. As you’d guess, the specialty is cemitas, and that’s why I came here. On this particular day, I just wanted a quick light lunch, so I had a cemita asada with everything(including chipotle peppers) and a Mexican coke to go. I was worried I might regret not calling ahead, but that wasn’t an issue at all — my food came out quickly. It was every bit as good as I’d hoped. I plan to go back and try more!

Family owned place that is primarily Spanish speaking but they also speak English very well. Food was amazing — very authentic and the flavors were complex and refreshing.

Great hole in the wall place. Tacos are on the tiny side, and are therefore a bit expensive for what they are. The Cemitas I ordered was great, with the exception of a plain oscar meyer hot dog used as a topping.

This place is what the cliché Unilocaler would describe as «a hidden gem». So good I decided to lose my Unilocal review virginity to write a review. It’s out of site situated in the middle of a neighborhood, sporting a mustard yellow exterior. They have a taco stand in the front and you must go inside to order anything besides tacos. My boyfriend and I both got the Cemita Cubano.(Chicken milanesa, chorizo, ham) I was surprised it had three meats and toppings for $ 8. It was really tasty, the chipotle peppers were a nice touch of mild spice. The chorizo wasn’t overwhelmingly greasy like many other places. I intended on including a photo but it was so good that I ate it all before I had a chance to do so. I had to give this place four stars for the cramped parking lot and inside outside ordering nonsensical process. However, my boyfriend and I will be returning to try some more cemitas.(Which I hadn’t known existed until eating here.) Underrated spot in my opinion.

Great tacos de cabeza(brain tacos) almost taste like the ones in Mexico. Love the price, the rich flavors. The only thing I don’t like is that if you are eating in you cannot bring your own drink. I usually carry bottle of water and they say I have to buy a drink from them.

If you like spicy this is a place for you! Everything we ordered came with special sauce, which is so good, but spicy. We had their chicken Cemita and tacos arabes. Tacos arabes were the best tacos we ever had, and even though I am not a fan of spicy, I made myself eat it, they were so delicious. Camita, which is like a sandwich was very good too.

OMG this place is AMAZING! Love the fact that it’s a hole in the wall type of Mexican place, situated across a Catholic school. I have been looking forward to trying Cemitas and carne arabe for a long long time, and also a Poblano restaurant and I got it all here! The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the ambience is that of a place where one can come in after a hard day at work, relax, and eat some good food! My friends, this is my favorite type of feeling! Their Xipotle(Chipotle for my gringo friends) salsa is ridiculously good, and spicy too! One thing is for sure, coming with my wife, her and I have been hooked for good! I will definitely come here if i’m ever in the area again! Try their Cemitas, and tacos arabes and if the dish you order doesn’t include the Chipotle sauce, ask for it! It’s worth it! But be warned my non-spice loving friends, you are going to be hit hard! Also very considerable prices!

Ive only been there once, but here is my take… First off, its really cool to find a mexican joint that serves unique food in Aurora. Its relatively easy to get the different spots confused in Aurora, since they all serve the same basic dishes. Ive never heard of Arab Tacos or Cemitas before, so I was definitely intrigued. I had a few pastor tacos(which were very good). I guess they are served on small tortillas for the 99 cent special. As per the recommendations of my friends on Unilocal,I also had a few Arab Tacos(which were good. although a bit overpowering with the chipotle sauce). I think in the future I might ask that they put the sauce on the side. Finally, I had a Cemita Americana(which was delicious). Since it came last, I was basically full and had a mouth full of fire. So, Im not sure I fully appreciated it. I took half of the Cemita home, and late into the evening finished it off. Im really astounded at how good it was for leftovers. Edit 07/13/2015: So, after visiting half a dozen times, Im less impressed than I was before. This is one of the few Taco spots in Aurora that I think are cheapskates. They literally give you a dozen chips at the beginning of the meal to share with your table, which is insane. Also, the sandwiches and tacos are overpriced for what you get. I had a cemita that was $ 8 that didnt have much filling whatsoever. By the end of the meal you can drop $ 25 for two people easily.

Las Cemitas is a small building located in a residential neighborhood that is painted bright yellow, you can’t miss it! On a sunny day you better have some sun glasses. You come here seeking the House Specialty, authentic Puebla-Style Tortas. Everything is tasty, however that’s too much bread! I dismantle the sandwich and the top bun is always recycled, sometimes as a Frisbee! Place your order and you immediately hear the flat top sizzlin’…they have nothing to hide… you can watch your Cemitas cooked to order only to realize that the sausage here is a hot dog and not chorizo! However, the saving grace is the«Tacos Arabes». This is a simple presentation served with an addictive Spicy Chipotle Sauce with slivered onion. These are messy, sloppy, finger lickin’ good and anything else you want them to be! Good ones are hard to find.

They have mostly tortas and Cemitas, which are a type of torta but with tastier bread. First off, the chips were fresh and the salsas were hot. Not sure if they have a milder option, but the heat paired well with the food. Only the first batch of chips were free. I ordered the only vegetarian Cemita which has Oaxaca cheese(called quesillo on the menu) This cheese is incredibly hard to find and delicious. It was good but needed more avocado, next time I will also ask for them to add tomato and lettuce. They close on Wednesdays!

A really tasty sandwich. I always order the cemita de milanesa(res) and it is consistently very delicious. I had to say something. There is a variety of Mexican food in Aurora but none can offer cemitas. Highly recommended. The place is a bit of a hole in the wall but I wasn’t looking for décor. Everything was very fresh and service was attentive.

This is my favorite Mexican place in Aurora. It isn’t pretty, but it is exactly what it needs to be. It is a shack with tables that serves the kind of sandwich that will blow your mind. Cemitas aren’t easy to find, and this one is the best I have had. I only order one thing. Cemitas Cubano. They put everything on this sandwich and it is the best. It has pork, a cheese similar to mozzarella, some spicy pepper spread, and avocado. The cemitas bread has sesame seeds and has more of a crust to it compared to a torta. This is the kind of sandwich that will make your day better. This is the kind of sandwich that will haunt your dreams. This place might have other things on the menu, but I could care less.

I went there for the first time and loved it. Really small restaurant and really good food. I had the milanesa de pollo cemita and my wife had the tongue torta. Food came out fast. Mine was awesome. She said hers was really good. I didn’t try I because I don’t eat tongue

I had my first cemita! Milanesa de pollo(Breaded chicken) I absolutely loved it It’s a big soft bun with meat, onions, avocado, shredded Oaxaca cheese, and this boiled chipotle sauce I believe takes 12 hours to make. To say it was made with love and was delicious would be an understatement. The owner flies the ingredients in from Mexico once a month and you can tell in the flavor. That sauce is perfectly sweet, smoky, and hot. And the heat builds throughout the meal. Not only was the cemita crazy delicious, both salsas they gave were fantastic and perfect to add. It was so damn tasty, I will prob be back once/week for lunch now that I know they are open. I have been waiting to see this place open for over a year and today around 1230, I finally saw the«OPEN» sign To give you an idea of how good this place is, I haven’t Unilocaled anything in a good long while… I finished about 15 mins ago AND I’m at work. This place has to grow in popularity. Go there and spread the word. i can’t wait to try their other offerings If the owner/workers are reading this, great job and you should all be very proud FYI, they are closed on Wednesdays/Miercoles

I walked in the door about 5:00 last night and said to my husband, I need an adventure. He grabbed his coat and said where are we going? And this is where we went, perfecto. Maybe other people would find it strange to drive from Frankfort to Aurora for a sandwich but this sandwich, totally worth the 50 minutes. The restaurant is small, looks like a house with signage and a small parking lot. We entered and the woman spoke Spanish to me which made me their immediate amiga. I am watching my granddaughter instead of teaching this semester and I so miss speaking Spanish. I am pretty sure she spoke English but I didn’t give her the chance. I asked our waitress if they were connected with the Cemitas Pueblas in the city and she smiled and said, Ours are tastier. :) I had a Cemita al pastor minus the chipotle peppers plus pineapple and it was a warm bunful of taste and flavor. It had carnitas, cheese, onions, avocado, pineapple and maybe cabbage? on a toasty bun. I devoured every bite plus had one tamal verde and it was the absolute best tamal I have ever had with just a good amount of spicy heat. Paired it all with a Mexican coke and got to speak lots of Spanish at a budget friendly price. I call that a nice adventure for a Friday night.

Sometimes I get these super late night cravings for Mexican food, specifically tacos. However being a student and working retail means I’m living the broke life. That’s why when I get these insatiable late night taco cravings, I hop in my car and come here. They have some of the best $.99 tacos ever! They have them available at night, might be available during the day but I’m unsure since I only come here at night.(Also may only be available on weekends, since that’s when I typically come here. Ill update when I find out for sure.) Since its the winter they’ve moved the $.99 taco operation inside since its buck ass frosty outside. During the summer, at night you’ll see their taco stand out there churning out those bad boys out to the long line of customers. I always get the tacos de al pastor. Holy flavor explosion batman, they’re so good. I haven’t tried anything else on their menu besides the Horchata, which is good too but you can’t go wrong with Horchata. It’s like pizza, even when it’s bad, it’s good. If you find yourself driving on High st and see St. Joseph Catholic Church be sure to look across the street and stop here for a taco. Because who needs Taco Bell when you can have an authentic taco for $.99. Suck it Taco Smell, suck it!

Tried the cemita poblanita. Man, it’s very good and spicy. That thing wil clean out your sinuses! Best cemita I’ve tried. Will definitely go back if I’m in the area. About a 10 – 15 minute drive from the outlet mall.

Feel quite lucky to find this little place by accident from driving northbound on High St. across the street from a catholic school. It wasn’t your run-of-the-mill Mexican joint but one that specializes in cuisine from the Puebla region. Building looked like a house that was converted into a restaurant. The wooden walls inside were painted baby blue, which felt like I was getting some seafood in New England. For those who aren’t familiar with Cemitas, they’re pretty much tortas with avacado, onions, quesillo, chipotle, and your base meat. Got a milanesa cemita for $ 6.75, steak, pork, and goat tacos $ 1.30 each, 2 arabe tacos, and a medium jamaica all for an amazing $ 19. Lady there was very nice and knew English. The cemita was pretty big for what it cost. The chipotle chile that’s applied ain’t for the faint of heart as the intense spiciness didn’t go away for about 10 – 15 minutes. The arabe tacos had slivers of either pork or goat meat with onion strands. Regular tacos were super small, which took me 2 bites to finish one. Jamaica paired great with my great meal. A definite diamond in the rough! Its neighborhood location might make it hidden from outsiders. They also had specialty cemitas for $ 8 Hawaiian(Sausage, pineapple, ham), Cuban(milanesa, Mexican sausage, ham), Mexican(Milanesa, lomo, sausage), Super Cuban(milanesa, cheese head, sausage), poblanita(milanesa, spicy meat, sausage, cheese head), cholulita(milanesa, cheese head, spicy meat)
