Love Dorie’s. Great ice cream from Purity in Ithaca. Usually a lot of different options available, and all delicious and worth trying! The ambiance at Dorie’s is adorable. Super cute wallpaper and signs(almost Pinteresty), plus lots of Mackenzie Childs stuff. The back deck is really nice to sit on in the summer. Lots of shade, but you can still see the lake!

Okay, listen, as a college student who absolutely despises their dining options and dining area(s), Dorie’s comes as an absolute blessing. I love everything about it, the beauty of Dorie’s is that there are so FEW quiet, small, local bakeries that I have encountered in Upstate NY(yes, I am from Manhattan, I’m allowed to call Cayuga County ‘upstate’). Here’s the rundown: I’ve basically eaten everything off the menu, encountered every single person who works at Dorie’s, I’ve seen ITALL. And by that, all I’m conveying is that if any of you Unilocalers read this review, rest assured, I am very well acquainted with this place. Everyone seems to really love the Dorie’s Classic, which is a croissant with Dorie’s signature chicken salad, and some other toppings. It’s pretty good, admittedly I’m not the world’s première chicken salad aficionado, but it’s quite delicious. BUT, I’m here to tell you about two items which I believe are the biggest sleepers on their entire(small) menu: Try the quiche of the day, it’s usually ham & cheddar and/or broccoli, onion, and cheddar. Try the damn quiche, it’s fantastic, it’s fresh, why WOULDN’t you??? Seriously, I never see anyone order it besides me, I promise it’s great, even the employees give me that lowkey head-nod of approval when I march in there and demand to know their quiche selection. Also get it with a side salad, I feel like people sleep on Dorie’s fresh produce, their salads are quite filling and delicious! Secondly, try their New Yorker sandwich. It’s ham, cheddar, apples, a walnut aioli, on a roll or wheat… or whatever you want it on. I promise it’s the best damn cold cut sandwich you’re gonna eat in the next few months(unless you’re planning to go to Slaters in NJ or Katz’ in NYC sometime soon, which none of you are because you’re from around Cayuga County), you will not regret it. I am a slightly abnormal college student, I am an advocate of going to school and not sacrificing one’s dignity as a foodie, don’t settle for gross dining hall food or for your washed up housewife’s french toast or chicken parm, cut it out, just go to Dorie’s instead, maybe she’ll appreciate you more and maybe that«spark» you both once had will reemerge. Just kidding, it won’t! But just go to Dorie’s and eat some good savory food and try their baked treats too, they’re all fresh!

The service sucks! We visit the area yearly and there’s not much choice for fresh food in Aurora. While Dorie’s can come up with a good salad, sandwich and coffee, they fall down hard in basic customer service. On 9÷5÷15 we went in late morning for two sandwiches. The cashier said«it would be a few minutes». After 35 minutes of watching the one s-l-o-w as molasses food prep girl who obviously can’t multi-task, I went up and asked what’s going on with my order? She said sorry we’re very busy, so with 3 orders still ahead of mine and looking at another 10 or 15 more minutes wait, I demanded my money back and walked out frustrated, never to come back. Granted they were busy and apparently understaffed to handle a rush hour, but Dories’ knows nothing about good customer service. They should have 1) at order time made us aware of a possible 30+ minute wait and 2) during the long wait, come up to their customers to apologize and, importantly, offer up courtesy pastries or coffee.

Stopped in for the first time today. The coffee was great and the desserts were amazing. Looking forward to going back soon and trying some sandwiches.

I didn’t think having a lake house could get any better, but this place was the icing on the cake. I loved all the bakery items. The Jamaican Me Crazy coffee might be the best flavor I’ve ever had. I’m very much by the quality of everything.

Fantastic food, ambience, and service. I am seriously considering driving from Ithaca just for a cup of tea and a piece of pie. Or two.

Ok so 3 for the ice cream and 0 for service/staff… the selection of desserts was very slim… ice cream selection was decent. But my husbands Sea Salt Caramel was frost bitten. My dark chocolate mint Oreo was good. The place is very quaint and nice. There was clutter and supplies on the counter but no big deal. The blonde behind the counter was the most lifeless rude curt woman I have ever encountered in the service industry. My grandmother who was with us and diagnosed with cancer the day prior was in better spirits than her. Attitude is everything. And it generally makes up for a poor experience. In this case it made mediocre ice cream even worse. She handed over the cones like she was forking over a ticket to ride the tower or terror. We actually got into an exchange over her poor attitude … And it accomplished nothing however I felt slightly better afterward. Adding credence to my observations was when a stranger walked in the door and whispered to myself and husband«she loves her job huh?»(There is no font for sarcasm but please read the quote in the most sarcastic inner character you have). If you go try that Dark Chocolate Mint Oreo. …My husband had a sundae it was either the sea salt caramel or he has suddenly become lactose intolerant because he blew up our motor home something fierce shortly there after. CHEERUPICECREAMWOMAN.

A nice place to have breakfast in Aurora. Breakfast sandwich is ok but the kids liked the ham and cheese and these guys are picky.

Dories has gone through many changes over the years but one thing remains consistent– they are good! It was an absolute pleasure being there for breakfast today. They have a cottage-y/McKenzie Child’s feel inside with a cute and classic counter and Parisian themed jazz playing. There are handful of tables inside and a little back porch you can sit at and view the lake from. Half of the building is occupied by a bakery, which produces pastries and breads for the nearby businesses. They have a front and side window so you can see the bakers at work. My partner and I both ordered breakfast sandwiches which were tasty and homey. There was a variety of baked goods to pick from as well so my partner grabbed a rhubarb danish which he enjoyed. The coffee is local– Fingers Lakes Roastery. It was fairly good, nice and hot out of the carafe. If you happened to be in Aurora Dories is a wonderful stop for breakfast or lunch. I would definitely recommend it.

This place was one of our breakfast options while staying at the Rowland House which is part of the Aurora Inn. You are given an option of a breakfast sandwich or Quiche, pastry, & drink. The breakfast sandwich was made on a croissant and was very filling & the broccoli & cheddar quiche was amazing. The scones are the best we ever had. We experienced their lunch during our wine tour and their Western Sandwich was absolutely amazing. Their breads are homemade, baked fresh daily. Would def recommend this place and would definitely come back!

Good ice cream and tasty chicken salad sandwich. I am surprised that it is only open for a quarter of the year. Very friendly staff and lots of tables with a cute atmosphere.

Came in for a quick pre-hike breakfast. We got toasty bagels and tea. The lone staffer there was friendly and fast. Prices were good. We also got a freshly made breakfast bar too for the road, it was delicious!

I walked into the silent, pleasantly appointed Dorie’s and within a couple of minutes was eating a toasty bagel and staring out the window at the main road through this sleepy little town. Dorie’s offers a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, as well as tasty looking baked goods. I’d venture to say that you’d only come to Dorie’s if you live in Aurora, and if you live in Aurora, you already know about it. Still, if you happen to be there, they’ve got long hours and free wi-fi. Worth a sit down and a cup of tea.

Dorie’s is an ice cream/bakery/coffee shop. We stopped in for a light breakfast. Wifey got the raspberry croissant which was«tasty, but pretty sugary» and I got the«Jimmy Dean»(a breakfast sandwich consisting of microwaved egg, sausage, and American cheese on a biscuit). Lacking a full background in Sausage-ology, I was not familiar with this so-called«Jimmy Dean». And while my taste buds and he got on quite well, Mr. Stomach was suspicious and decided to antagonize Mr. Dean and wifey with lots of rumbles and gas production. Dorie’s seemed to be popular with the locals(or at least the 4th of July vacation crowd) who were there mainly for the coffee, which was solid, albeit the push canister variety. I can’t speak to the ice cream, but I’m sure it’s tasty on a hot day.
