I love trying a new place just to say I did it and now I have, I won’t be back here anymore. The food wasn’t terrible but the menu isn’t extensive and the ladies who work here talk about you as if you’re not SITTINGRIGHTTHERE. I ordered a tofu soup, my husband had the shredded spicy soup. While I can’t complain about the taste of my soup, my husband certainly thought the portion was a bit small for the price. He ate his entire meal and was still hungry, which is not common. Their banchan is on the skimpy side and their soup portions are small as well. They do have a fun karaōke area which would be nice on the weekend and I’d probably enjoy it if the good was anything to write about.

I really enjoyed this place… They didn’t have a big crowd, so my daughter and I got all their attention. The staff was so attentive! I will definitely go back whenever I am on that side of town!

This is my to go korean spot in Augusta GA. We came to this place a few years ago and it wasn’t that great but they have new owners now and I have been going there to eat for the last 6 month’s. It is very delicious highly recommend!

Love the service, very friendly and helpful, happy to make suggestions if you want. It’s easy to feel comfortable here, even if you are not familiar with this type of food. Which is good, because this place is not Americanized, and that might be the best part. Going back and bringing friends!

This place was really good they give you free sides like you would expect at a Korean restaurant.(wished one of the sides was fried tofu like at other restaurants but not a big deal) I had the bul go ki the beef was sliced in bigger slices then I am used to but it was still good. I loved their dumplings! so much so we ordered more to take home. the portions of food are large so you don’t leave hungry. I would say Emashiya Korean BBQ is still my favorite place in the area(because atmosphere, chicken wing, and the boxes that have some of everything) but this is a close second and is not 40 mins away from my house. I will be coming back here.

The OG owners of Golden Garden recently retook management earlier this summer 2013. The restaurant was out of commission for a few months(probably to undergo a new facelift and get things up to code) but is back and tastier than ever! I will warn all you people who are looking for Americanized or Fusion Korean that this is NOT the place to go. Golden Garden only serves truly authentic Korean, which means super bold flavors, spicy sauces, and lots of garlic and green onions! Their menu(see picture) is small and modest but everything offered is well-prepared and very good. The owners themselves are the only cooks and they only have one waitress on staff, so it’s a very small family run operation. Food may sometimes take a bit longer to come out, but that’s because everything is being freshly cooked and nothing is just sitting around on a hot plate. Whether you get the short beef ribs(galbi) or a simple beef fried rice, you won’t be disappointed. I will admit that the restaurant isn’t located in the best part of town, but sometimes you have to go to the hole in the wall place for the best tasting food. So if you’re feeling adventurous or are just craving some really spicy kimchi, venture to south Augusta to Golden Garden and give this place a shot!

Let me start off by saying, I’m open to all cultures and all of their traditions and cuisines. I thoroughly enjoy experiencing new things. I had never had Korean food until I was persuaded by a good friend’s family to join them for a luncheon here. With a little nudging, I was up for a new experience, and what an experience it was! This was a private event, so I don’t know what all that they prepared was actually served in the restaurant on a regular basis. It was set up buffet style and I would say there was about 20 items to choose from. I feel bad because I can’t tell you what the name of all the dishes were but I know there was kimchee there, squid, and white rice, all of the other items I have no clue what they were called or what they were. I tried the squid and some type of ground beef soup stuff over white rice. The squid was very hard for me to chew and I couldn’t eat it but I did eat the ground beef soup. It was extremely spicy but it did have a good flavor to it. There were other items I tried but I couldn’t enjoy them because I was on fire from the ground beef soup. Being my first time eating Korean food, I don’t know if the dishes were traditional dishes and prepared correctly or adequate for a Korean’s palate. All in all, I did enjoy the experience and everyone serving the food were polite and bent over backwards to accomodate me and my family, knowing that it was our first time enjoying their cuisine. I can’t say if I would or would not eat here again but I am very fortunate to be able to have experienced the dining!!!

Great food! I don’t know what BJ reviewer was talking about. I’ve lived in Korea for two years. The food here is original and not westernized like most Korean restaurants I’ve been to. The portions here are big and are not meant to be eaten by yourself. And there are lots of side dishes given to you of kimchee veggies and squid. So I guess the price reflects that as well. The food was good as well. We ordered yakimandu and kimchee jige(soup). You have to specify how hot you want it. Korean«mild» is very hot. So be careful. I ended up too full and had to take the left over soup home. I had the soup remixed for dinner and it was still good. I think this place is a hit or miss for most people.

I LOVE Korean food … when it’s good! … but my friend’s review let’s me know this recommendation on this visit missed its mark. I personally have not gone to this restaurant but had my close Korean friend recommend this one to me and I had another fellow American friend try it out for me… here’s his review… and he loves to eat! … too bad… didn’t sound like the food was very good. Hmmm… should I try it? Me thinks NOT! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- My friend’s review: «The restaurant you suggested via your Korean friend was one of the worst meals Zanne and I had in years. The only thing we enjoyed was the Yaki mon due I know it is spelled incorrectly but I am sure you got it. We had eaten there years ago when it was owned by a sweet family that was broken up by violence. The owner was shot and his wife was ill with cancer. The food was great then. Now the place is fixed up well but the food was not good at all. We ordered bul go ki, and I had the squid and veggies. All very salty and over done with a fishy sauce. Very expensive like $ 55.00 for the two of us and four beers. The beef was the wrong cut instead of the thin slices it was like a London Broil tuff and tasteless. Thanks for trying and we will still keep looking.»
