The service here was extremely slow. We came in and the restaurant was pretty empty but it took at least 15 min before a server even came to greet is or give us water. Our coffee cups were always empty and we had to call the server over for refills and we had been sitting there for 40 min before there was there was any sign of food. When the food came, it was not cooked right at all. We ordered burgers and rib eyes, both medium rare, and they came out well done. Didn’t even want to waste any more of my life in this place so didn’t bother calling over a manager. Will not becoming here again.

Holy Cow! Thought I had written a review for Edgars! I love this place. The food, the service, and the ambience are spot on. I’ve never had anything bad. I have never been here with anyone who’s had anything bad. I love the concept and the location is very convenient. I have been to lunch here on business, I have met girlfriends here for dinner, I have been on dates here. Next: Food. ITISSOGOOD. I have done sandwiches, burgers and steaks and flatbread. I had a burger on my last trip and it was juicy and delicious. Topped with bacon and served on a buttery brioche bun. I tend to get the meat pizza, which is loaded with meat. My dining companions have adored the fried green tomato salad, and different fish. I like the cocktail and wine menu– they have a nice selection. You will find people come in here and eat at the bar. The pizza oven is located in that area of the restaurant as well. Go try Edgar’s.

On Saturday night at 730pm, we waited 20 min to get water in a half full restaurant. Our waiter appeared lost. They ran out of bread and meatballs. We could not even order pizza because the oven was not working. This was unacceptable for a city like Augusta.

Enjoyed dinner here for a work Christmas party. The food was absolutely delicious. My spouse and I both enjoyed the 6oz filet which was cooked medium rare and was so juicy and tender. The servers were excellent also. I’d love to return here for brunch.

I spent quite a bit of time on Unilocal researching and selecting restaurants for my first visit to Augusta. I picked a family dinner at Edgar’s Grille based on other’s reviews, and unfortunately I have to report back that we were disappointed with the experience. I didn’t find this mentioned in many other reviews, so I’d like to include some information I discovered about Edgar’s Grille. The restaurant is named for Edgar Helms, the founder of Goodwill Industries. It is associated with Helms College, which is part of Goodwill Industries and offers career counseling and job placement assistance. A portion of every dollar you spend at Edgar’s Grille goes toward education programs, including support for Helms College. In addition, Helms College culinary students receive experiential learning opportunities through service at Edgar’s Grille so you very well could meet wonderful Helms College students while dining. I had a reservation through Open Table and my party of 4 showed up exactly on time. There wasn’t a hostess at the hostess stand, so we waited several minutes before someone in a chef’s coat appeared to welcome my party. She let us know they were still preparing a table and asked us to take a seat in the bar. This is certainly understandable and we wouldn’t have minded waiting; however, 20 minutes went by, tables were sitting empty, and guests that came in after us were sat right away. I approached the hostess stand again and went through two additional employees before they were able to figure out how and where to seat us(which ended up being at an already open and prepared table). Our experience didn’t get much better after we sat. Our main server left us for long stretches of time. It took a very long time for our entrée order to be taken, we were told we were be served bread in the meantime and didn’t receive it until asking(twice) and then getting it after our entrees. We didn’t receive our entrees until we had been at the restaurant for almost 2 hours. We witnessed several other tables(parties of 2 and 4) place their orders after us and receive their entrees before we did. The food was very good and we each enjoyed our dish, but waiting that long really soured the experience for us. The highlight of our evening was our server’s assistant; he was attentive, extremely polite, and very helpful. I really like the premise of this restaurant and their support and connection with Helms College and the community. But the lack of service we received was certainly disappointing, and I’m not sure I would return again.

I’ve been there for dinner and brunch(before I got Unilocal) and both experiences were great, as well as the food! The time I went for brunch, though, was interesting. I guess it’s safe to assume the waiter was either in training or had just graduated from Helms and was a little nervous. I think our table made him a little more comfortable after a while! Today I went for lunch and ordered the grilled cheese with fries, and omg. It seriously was delicious. The staff is extremely friendly, as well as the chefs that came and asked how everything turned out. We were told that students cooked our lunch, and that made our experience even more delightful. On top of great food, the atmosphere is so relaxing and chic. Very clean, trendy and open – it’s nice to not feel cramped.

I’m not really sure why I’ve never been here before. Mister wanted to go and since we haven’t been we decided to make it our next date night spot. I love the ambience of Edgar’s. We made reservations through Open Table but when we got there I almost asked to eat outside because it was such a beautiful evening. Anyway, we were seated immediately. I wish I could say we served half as fast. I think our server was awesome but maybe the kitchen was short. It was 30 minutes before we ever received food. Hubby ordered a pizza and I ordered the shrimp and grits-supposedly the best in town. We’ll see about that… Even though it took a while to get served, the food was delicious. Mister thought the pizza was some of the best he’s had on the area. The shrimp and grits really were the best I’ve had in Augusta. The basil cream sauce was the winning ingredient to me. I’m going to chalk this visit to just a bad night due to lack of staff. If we had been served in a timely fashion I probably wouldn’t have noticed how cold it was in there. Overall, I’m giving it another try. The food is definitely worth it!

I’m so glad I finally got around to trying this place. I love the whole idea of this restaurant and really wish there were more places like this. I loved the feel of the inside, the bar area and the outdoor seating. We tried it for brunch and there were several things on the menu that caught my eye, which naturally means I must return and try more! I ordered the eggs benedict with crab cakes and while it could have used more hollandaise, the flavor was delicious, so didn’t end up asking for extra. It was filling enough that I didn’t need a side either. I thought the price was actually pretty average. I will be back! Hoping they keep the outdoor seating open now that the weather is starting to cool down a bit and is more tolerable.

Bottom line: flavorful, perfectly prepared, nicely presented food that is worth the wait. We are new to the area and tried Edgar’s on a friend’s recommendation. We went in knowing that many of the staff members are students or recent graduates(it was our waitress’s first night after graduating from culinary school, and she did a great job). So we budgeted extra time and planned to be patient. We did wait a long time for food and drinks, including water refills, and they were out of bread – the staff were polite and apologetic. But when the food did get there, it was delicious – there were four people in our party(ordering duck, lamb, burger, and the vegetarian dish) and we were all impressed with the food, especially with the seasonings, which the sous chef says are all made in-house(for the burger, for instance, they grind their own meat and prepare a fresh herb and spice blend to mix in). Entrees are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for, including nice presentation. Having just moved from Northern California near Napa, we were pleased with the wine selection. Definitely don’t skip dessert. Most are made in-house, and the pastry chef is a cheesecake expert. I ordered a pumpkin bread pudding that is likely seasonal, so you’ll want to go get that seven or eight times before it’s gone.

Ok im a bit picky… so bare with me. My husband and I love to date our friends — we don’t like date-date them but we make it a point to go out with our friends socially as much as possible and spend quality time with them… and being fancy… So we were originally going to go to la maison and unfortunately every time we plan our friend-date there, they are closed(no seriously — EVER-Y-TI-ME!) So we settled here and by settling I do not mean by deciding. The atmosphere is amazing and really fun. The chairs can be a bit uncomfortable and i believe the back of my legs were permanently branded by the edge of the chair. The wait staff seemed almost oblivious of the fact they had customers. Our waitress was cute but very«McDonalds-esk» with her service. Im sure she wanted to shout back«is that all?» everytime we called her over. I ordered shell pasta with capers(i love those little salty guys). My plate came out and it was like a kindergarten pasta picture because all the pasta was way over cooked and essentially stuck together as if the cook glued them together. i fought through the pasta glue as much as i could and took the rest home for later. My friend ordered the same and hers came out less kindergarten project then mine and she stated that she enjoyed it. I forget what my husband had, he didn’t really make any noise while eating it so i assumed he was ok. I asked him if he liked it… and like the cave man he is he grunted and said…“it was edible“ I am not so impressed and im sad because this was going to be a location of an event i wanted to hold and well with that performance — i am saying GOODNIGHT to them as a catering or location option.

The staff was great! The waitress was perfect! I spent my 21 birthday here and I didn’t like one of the drinks and she didn’t charge me! We got the lamb shank and cinnamon cheesecake. Best choice ever! Love this place! Excellent food and staff! Couldn’t have had a better 21 birthday dinner!

I love that students are getting an opportunity to practice their craft. I was greeted with a smile by the hostess. I opted to dine at the bar. I was pleased to see that I could watch«students in action» on the TV screen. I asked the Tuba for a glass of Chardonnay and she responded«Oakie or non Oakie»!! I live in California, work in Napa and love a good«Oakie» chard. Tuba is the first bartender to EVER ask me that question! She also had a fast smile, was quick to serve and just a pleasure! I would hire this young woman in a heart beat! I had the shrimp and grits! Yummy. Check them out!

This is a well-kept little secret — not anymore! The food here is fantastic, and the staff is very attentive. I have tried almost everything on the menu. I am not a fan of the maxed-out AC –even during summer months — so I would suggest bringing a sweater if you are like-minded. You have the option of dining outside on the patio under the umbrella if you are a fresh-air type of person. It doesn’t seem as if a lot of people dine here. I don’t know what the reason for that would be, but as I mentioned prior: It’s a well-kept secret.

The server was very friendly and helpful but the service was a little slow since they only had one server serving our party of 20 people. We went there for brunch and the food was very delicious. The crab cake salad was very fresh but the crab cake patties were pretty small. In fact, that was my impression for every dish that came out: the food tasted delicious and danced on my pallets but the portions were so small I felt like I had just eaten an appetizer. The shrimp and grits was very flavorful and creamy with a lot of shrimps but not as much grits. It’d be interesting to try their dinner to see if their portions for entrees are as small as those for brunch.

Brunch today was a wonderful treat. Amanda and Brittany just made our day! We had Eggs Benedict and the favorite two. The Benedict was prepared very nicely, it was not traditional, I opted for crab and I am glad I did. Cash had the eggs scrambled well, which the chef followed to the T, bacon crisp and a warm flaky biscuit. The food was great and the people are what made it perfect!

I finally made it to Edgar’s Grille and my first visit was a pleasant visit. From the moment we entered we experienced the professionalism of the staff. Everyone I came in contact with was courteous and professional. The duck I ordered was awesome, it was cooked exacatly as I ordered. Overall I thought the portion size for the side items was small. The open didning room is much quieter than expected. The tables seem close to each other but the conversations from the neighboring tables does not carry.

Ambiance. A Service. A Food. A Price. B. It’s pricey. But worth it. I can tell they would guarantee to make sure you’re happy. I’m a fan of the atmosphere. Service. Food. And pricing is worth the experience. I can see peeps going here for special occasions! This was my first time and had always wanted to try. It seems some foods are locally sourced. Tried asking the server if she knew where the meats came from but couldn’t, but did say that the burgers were freshly ground chuck on the premise. The food is delicious and flavorful. I had the lunch cheese burger and added bacon making the price $ 16. Also, I guess the waitress didn’t hear me say medium rare, but cooked it medium well. I hear they ground their own chuck and would have preferred my meat pink. Oh, well. My fault for not double checking to see if she heard me. I liked the seasoned French fries. Nicely crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. My friend had the potato salad and it had way too much mayonnaise for my taste. The banana cream cheesecake $ 8-$ 10 was perfect creamy with lovely banana flavoring throughout each bite. And their was this lovely sweet praline like crunch. Wasn’t sure what that was. I was also recommended a good glass of champagne which was nice dry and light. I liked that the host and chef went around checking on custmers to see if everything was alright. I didn’t mention my burger wasnt cooked the way I liked. B The bill was over $ 60 with tip. Considering the atmosphere, service and menu. This was nice dining. The menu changes seasonally. I think I’ll try the rack of lamb next time. But I’ll double check next time. Maybe I should say«pink meat. «. Lol!

Making the reservation for Edgar’s was fast and easy through Open Table. Upon arrival, the host was very friendly and immediately showed us to our table. Our server was prompt in taking our water and drink order. She was able to answer our questions about the menu and suggest her favorites. My husband’s rack of lamb was cooked perfectly and was quite tasty. My salmon was cooked as requested, but may have gotten salted twice in the preparation process. I do like well seasoned food, but this was overly salted. Otherwise the risotto cake and asparagus were great sides. It’s a place we’ll definitely try again.
