I love this salon! My hair stylist is Christina and she is brilliant, but here is the best part… all the stylists here are really great. They listen to what you want, give helpful suggestions, and we’re in integral part in my having healthy hair and scalp. Just got my hair trimmed today and feel like a million bucks! Ooooo also check out Mel to get your lashes and brows done… you won’t regret it!

I get compliments on my hair practically every time I leave the house. Half the people say they wish they had a hair color as ‘naturally’ beautiful as mine. Ha! All credit is due to Christina Watson, my quietly amazing colorist/stylist at Bliss. She is a delightful person and a talented, poised, and artistic professional. Christina applies her creativity to my style and color, works with my natural waves and curls, really listens to any of my concerns, tries new products(right now we’re loving Morrocan Oil), goes to trade conferences and stays current on everything in the hair world. While at the shampooing station she massages conditioner into my hair and scalp and oh my, it is soooo relaxing I could fall asleep right there. Christina is a stunningly beautiful person, inside and out, and we always have a lively conversation. In two years I don’t believe I’ve ever heard her say anything negative about anyone. She is positive, peaceful person and a joy to know. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have found such a great hairstylist and friend. The salon itself is a cute cottage and there are always little goodies like scones or macaroons in the waiting room, along with Kuerig coffee or tea. I’ve never had a problem with appointments or scheduling. Bliss might be a little more expensive that some other places in town but it is definitely in line with the quality of service. I highly recommend Christina Watson and Bliss.

I followed my hair stylist from Modish years ago. Not only has she given me great haircuts for years, her co-workers are also pretty awesome. They are always warm and inviting and provide a relaxing atmosphere for their clients. Everything down to the cute treats and coffee maker(makes all sorts of flavored coffee) in their swanky parlor. I would recommend this salon to anyone. Just so people know, I’m picky as heck when it comes to picking the right salon. Not only do I need great stylists, I need an attractive place to decompress and feel beautiful. Bliss has offered this service to me for a very long time. I need a cut that will be low maintenance and just falls into place every morning before I head to work. I generally get a pretty bang trim and a layered cut. I always walk away feeling prettier. DOIT! Go there!

I actually am writing because I want to hear people’s opinions and please offer advice as to what I should do. I recently called to make an appointment at Bliss. I’m not sure if they don’t have a receptionist, but both times I’ve called, I’ve had to leave a message. No big deal, the stylist returned my call immediately. I needed a morning appointment because my daughter naps at 1pm, but all she had available was noon. I took the appointment and packed a bag full of goodies for my daughter hoping she’d hang in there for a couple of hours. When I was on my way, I called to let them know I was going to be 5 minutes late. Again, I had to leave a message. I didn’t leave my number because(a) they should have had it having already called me once and(b) I was going to be there in 5 minutes. When I walked in, the stylist was waiting at the front desk and said that she must have had my number wrong. She had tried to call me to tell me that she was running behind. She said that she had to do some highlights on someone before she could get to me but didn’t give me an estimated time frame. I get highlights done, and it takes a minimum of 3 hours. Now, I have a lot of hair so if someone with a third as much hair as I have is getting highlights, that’s still an hour that I would have to wait. I understand that she tried to call me, but to me, it is unacceptable that she had my wrong number. She had already called me once to make the appointment so how did it get lost between then and now, and am I the only one confused as to why in 2012 a phone wouldn’t have caller I.D. I had just called 5 minutes prior. This is my first impression of this salon. It doesn’t get better. I knew already that it wasn’t going to work out, but my roots were awful, just awful and I was just holding out a modicum of hope that the client wanted like 2 foils in front and I’d be up in 15 minutes. Ha. I waited a half hour, and stood up to tell her that I had to leave. As I was walking to the back, I tripped on their rug. By the way, I’m six months pregnant, and I’m a size 2 usually so there is no mistaking my pregnancy. I look like I have a basketball under my shirt. There was a late teen or early 20 something behind the desk at this point whose reaction was a stoic, «Oh, yeah, did you trip on the rug?» WHAT!!! I’m sorry, but I’ve had people on a NYC subway get up and offer their seats to me when I was pregnant and lost my balance for a second. I think if my 2 year old daughter who knows about 100 words saw a woman trip, she’d at least say, «Sowy.» This girl behind the desk seemed more annoyed that she had to fix the rug. I was expecting an «Oh my god, Are you OK!?! Can I help you?» Instead I was met with this Miss Lack of Personality who didn’t even bother to ask if I needed a hand or if I was OK. I actually stopped for a minute and stood and stared at her waiting for her to act like someone other than a sociopath who seemed unfazed that a pregnant woman almost just biffed it in front of her. I wonder what she would’ve done if I had actually fallen. After I recovered from my shock and unbalance, I told the stylist I had to leave. She walked over to her little scribbly day planner. I guess that explains why my number wasn’t on file. She made an appointment for me at yet another inconvenient time, and the only reason I even rescheduled was because I liked her hair. As she was writing down the info, she misspelled my name. I even spelled it out for her. This would not be a big deal to me if it weren’t for the long list of other fiascos I had already encountered at this place. So my question is, would you keep the appointment or would you cancel and try out some other place?
