Excellent museum and a great value at $ 4 admission. History of the surrounding area and a large James Brown area upstairs, with train cars you can board, a glass bottle collection of found glass from a local couple, a cotton shredder, and a fabulous lunch spot next door — Hildebrandts(best ruben ever), makes this a perfect way to spend a few hours.

I went on the history museum trolley tour. I called two days prior to make my reservation. I arrived and paid for my ticket in the gift shop. A few minutes before 2:00 we boarded the trolley and began our tour. Our tour guide, Liza, was an outstanding first-class guide. She was a plethora of knowledge of the sites we stopped along the way. I learned a lot of interesting facts about Augusta. I would highly recommend this tour for locals as well as visitors. The gifts shop sells souvenirs at a reasonable price. Mary, the employee of the museum that waited on me was very friendly and professional. One tip I would like to share is to sit on the side of the bus driver. Most of the stops are on that side of the trolley. Gratuities are welcomed!

I’m so glad I made time to go to this museum! I was very impressed with how big and how informative it was. It’s right by the riverfront An actual old railroad track that they’ve preserved runs right in front of the building. The museum gives a thorough history of Augusta. There’s a room with actual trains that you can walk through! The children’s part is interactive but kinda small. I’ll admit I didn’t make it to some of the exhibits(the baseball and golf ones would’ve been cool) but I did make it to the James Brown exhibit. They have different outfits and album covers on display. You can even watch some videos and hear some of his music. Best $ 4 I spent in Augusta!
