I’m not sure if this place ever cleans their cars or fills their tanks ’cause they certainly didn’t do it for the SUV I picked up for a weekend trip. The gas tank read F on the analog meter but within just 20 miles, the gas tank meter crept halfway to the 7⁄8 mark. I know SUV guzzle up gas but this was ridiculous. When I tried to plug my iPhone in, I noticed the sticky console and the crumbs stuck in the nooks and cranny. Thankfully I had sanitizing wipes and took care of it myself and promptly went through 4 sheets after wiping the steering wheel and common areas most people touch the car. Adding insult to injury, I dropped the keys to the car underneath the drivers seat and when I reached for it, I pulled out a dried apple core instead of the keys! Gross!

I made the reservation on Priceline. My flight arrives at 10:30pm, I walk up to the counter and…(crickets chirping)…nothing. They’re closed, dark and not coming back ’til the morning. I check my paperwork and buried in the middle, in regular ol’ print are the desk’s business hours. Hours that say that I’m a half hour late to pick up my car and I’m out o’ luck. I ask the other rental companies if they have agreements with Ace where they can man the desk when Ace is closed or where they might have the key to my car. Nnnnope. My only option now is to rent from another outfit and pray that Ace aren’t asses about me canceling my reservation or hire a taxi to go to my hotel and back and pray that Ace will be reasonable and offer me a discount. I went for the taxi. Next morning the kid at the desk gives me attitude. The information’s on the website I just should have seen it. Ace, that’s just not good enough. Instead I have three suggestions: 1. When a customer tries to enter pick up or drop off times on your website or any contract website have your desk hours flash prominently, maybe in a bright color. 2. Commit to staying open later than the last flight arrives for the night. 3. Or if you want to keep the same hours make arrangements with one of the larger rental companies to have keys available for the occasional customer that arrives after you close. Beyond that you might explain to the kid that«served» me that customers vote with their wallets and your business will suffer because of his attitude. Oh. And you still owe me $ 40 for 2 taxi rides. 2013 #137 /365
