so expensive and the portions are a joke. you can’t really beat it to watch a sports game, but other than that, this place is no good. only bright spot is the service.

Had dinner here the other night with my wife. Absolutely nothing more than a mediocre place. Had a big salad and my wife had a cheesesteak and we split the crab fries. I honestly don’t get what the big deal is with these crab fries. They take french fries and sprinkle some type of seasoning on them and voila ! Was the place bad? No. Was it anything to write home about? No. Was it good enough to get me to return? No.

OK so we are huge Chickie and Pete’s fans– we usually go to the South Philly location but due to participating in some family activities we went to the Oaks location. I never would’ve guessed it was the same restaurant. We were a party of 10– seated quickly but kind of crammed in the back of the restaurant. Ordered what we normally do from the other location and it was a major disappointment. The cheese steak nachos barely had any cheese or steak on them. They came out with peppers– which we specifically told them no peppers. The guac, sour cream and salsa were just plopped down on the bowl pretty much covering the entire thing — making the dish pretty soggy and really inedible. I ordered a hot roast beef sandwich with provolone sauce and it was like there was a cup of jalapeño juice in the sauce– it burnt my mouth so bad that I swore I had blisters. The server kept saying that there was nothing spicy or that it was old bay seasoning– there is no way it was old bay. He did take the sandwich off the bill which was acceptable but it was still disappointing as we have never had this experience at the other location. I would think twice before going back to this location.

Do not go during NFL games, the worthless manager switches games nonstop. When the 4:00 games came on the game half the bar was watching got switched even though it was going into overtime. We promptly and politely let the bar tender know and she immediately told the manager who promptly shrugged like he both didn’t care and had no idea how to change them back if he did care. The same game was on 15 tvs. The entire bar left as a result. We all went to Buffalo Wild Wings to catch the end of OT. I’ll never go back to this Chickies again. Stay away… stay FAR away!

The staff was very attentive and pleasant. It is way smaller than other locations but still is a good sports bar. The food was good I had the lobster roll and she had the crab cake burger. We each shared our dinners and enjoyed both. I did enjoy the local beer selection.

I do not recommend coming here. Requested to watch a hockey game and they put it on a TV that we couldn’t see because the booths are so tall. They refused to change it to another TV, even though no one was watching the big screen. There was one other table in the room and they weren’t watching. Also, upon arrival, hostess actually turned her back on us. When I asked if we were being ignored, she rudely grabbed menus, rolled her eyes and sat us. I would never recommend this restaurant. Plenty of other places to watch sports.

Hey, this place is in the parking lot of my hotel, and on Wednesday, it’s $ 35 all-you-can-eat snow crab legs. Let’s get to work! Crab legs were served in a buttery sauce heavy on the Old Bay, a sauce that’s all good with me. Some sets of crab legs were thinner than others, requiring more surgical extraction than the fat legs of the other batches. I made it through 4 rounds before calling it quits. Pretty decent beer selection available, even though the long list of lagers was padded with the likes of Coors Lite, PBR, and other usual suspects. Lots of TV screens around; looks like a good place to watch games. And then Trivia Nite kicked in. I’m not sure if I only stuck around for the kids’ round, or if the round was made to accommodate bar patrons who may have occupied their educational time with other pursuits, but questions included«what human sense is carried by the auditory nerve» and«who wrote A Tale Of Two Cities.» Nice waitress kept the crabs coming. But will I come back, even if only 20 steps from the front door of the elegant Homewood Suites? We’ll see…

Place doesn’t separate itself from any other chain. Food is meh, beer selection looks like they threw darts to form the rotation. Staff stands around constantly and gabs. Happy hour every time I have gone is a mess. If you like to chat with ladies… keep driving. Mostly single dudes watching a sports channel being ignored if the beer is empty. I really want this place to work but to do so they need to start bringing in positive patrons. Beer prices are stiff for being a chain and for the selection. I mean there is absolutely no flow to the selections for the number of taps they have. I can usually always find something to drink(craft or import) even though I won’t drink domestics but they make you struggle.

Great food, friendly service, cool atmosphere. Just moved to the area from South Philly, and as a frequent customer of the South Philly location I was skeptical if this location would live up to the chickie and pete’s legacy but it most certainly did!

Been there a couple of times… but no more. Service was lackluster. Sandwich was terrible but I choked it down since I had not eaten anything. I could probably say more but it wouldn’t be positive. So I’ll finish on the good news. Great beer selection and of course the fries are decent… plus I had exact cash… so I could hit the road asap.

I had visitors from Virginia and Arizona and I wanted to give them a taste of Philadelphia. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we were seated by 7:15. The service and the food was outstanding. One of my guests was glad she didn’t live close or she would be there everyday to taste everything on the menu. We love Chickie’s & Pete’s and go as often as we can. Love the crab fries!

While on a business trip in the Valley Forge area, I noted this previously unknown sports bar across from my hotel & decided to give it a try. First off, it was voted«Best Sports Bar» by ESPN viewers. Since I have no interest in sports, I normally would not have tried it but the lobster, crab & seafood menu looked intriguing. Entering this establishment, I was disconcerted by the thumping techno-pop soundtrack & the gigantic Orwellian size flatscreen televisions. My business associate & I had some things to discuss so we asked for the quietest dining area. The waitress complied, but our location was still plagued by an irritating sound level. The menu was all«a la carte» so the tab mounted up quickly.(My 2 items came up to $ 22, including tax & tip.) I ordered the Shellfish Chowder. From the description, I expected a Manhattan Clam Chowder base but it was much thicker & spicier than I anticipated but after a few spoonfuls I became acclimated to it. There was enough shellfish in it, but there was no place to put the shells so I had to use a paper napkin to accommodate them. My main course was a house specialty, the Lobster Philly Cheesesteak. It consists of a standard combo of meat & melted cheese with a layer of lobster chunks in between. While substantial, it is a stillborn concept. The salty meat & the melted cheese totally overwhelmed the subtle lobster taste. The only thing«lobster tasting» about it was the chunkiness & the chewing substance. My associate had the Italian Bread Bowl with Manama Tomato Sauce, Provolone Cheese & Meatballs. There was enough of it but the sauce was overly peppered so it basically dominated the other ingredients. All in all, our consensus was that we would not go back to this restaurant as it really had no «wow» factor that sets it apart from other chain emporiums.

Really, worst. Service. Ever. Started by being told that we would have to wait 25 – 30 minutes on a Saturday night around 8pm. At 45 minutes we inquired and were told it would be another 15 minutes. Hostesses incredibly rude, disinterested, and would rather socialize than work. Food is okay — it’s pub food. I just wouldn’t return for overrated food and horrendous service from start to finish.

The host put us by the kitchen, they should of just gave up a dish rag and some dishes to clean. When we ask to be moved the host said the other tables only seat 4, it was 2 adults and 3 children in my party. They didn’t have a kids menu so we paid $ 18.75 for 2 cheeseburgers and extra for the fries. I order the crab nachos and its was so big and the crab meat taste fake and the nachos were soggy from all the stuff they put on it. My husband got the Kings crab legs and he loved them, but the crab-cakes he order had know taste and my daughter got hot wings which tasted like hot wings. The waiter attitude wasn’t pleasant to me either. This was my first time and my last visit.

Like everyone else in the neighborhood, I was ecstatic to hear about their opening. And like everyone else here, I was thoroughly disappointed, every single time, that I have been there. Here’s a quick run down: Mixed Drinks — 2 stars. Very weak drinks for the high prices. Could hardly taste the alcohol. Beer — 4 stars. I do like the growing list of craft beer on tap. If they could learn how to fill up the glasses, it’ll be a 5-star. Crab Fries — 2 stars. Not horrible but way too salty. If it weren’t totally overrated, it’d get 3 stars. Chicken Cutlets — 2 stars. Blend and dry. Hot Shrimp — 3 stars. This is the only item on the menu that has flavors. If it weren’t over price, it’d get 4 stars. Crab cakes — 3 stars. Average at the most. Lobster Roll — 3 stars. I had this more than once, even though it’s still blend. 2-star service because it’s almost nonexistence. Basically they know you’re there for the big screen TVs and the overrated name. Yes. Besides overrated, I would also add Over Priced.

The place hasn’t changed but the prices went up. They have a special going on bud light for 2 dollars the beer with flat and warm. Don’t get me wrong I really like this place but it hasn’t changed for the last 20 years. I miss the original Chickie’s on Frankford, they made everything fresh for you. I know they’re still there but its not the same.

You can’t throw a stick now days without hitting a chain restaurant or two or six and this is just one of the pack. I fly a lot and this chain is on a mission to put one in every terminal at PHL. They are fine for getting a drink while waiting out a flight delay in Terminal E. I’m not a huge fan of the free-standing locations but that’s mostly because the market they’re looking for is just not me. If you are half my age, looking to guzzle some average beer and pound done some average bar food this may be the place for you. This location is just off Trooper road behind that SUPER WaWa. It’s clean and I’ve found the staff to be friendly. There is a huge focus on beer here and they have tons of taps. Some would say they have a bunch of craft beers but I would say eh. Now days they are just the brews that are almost everywhere. The food of course includes the Crab Fries and lots of pub grub. If you like fried or heavy food you’ll be in heaven. If you’re coming here for a salad you’re out of your mind! I work very close to here so I’ll be in from time to time usually when I’m invited by a coworker. I think it’s fair to give them three stars.

There are reasons that I don’t often give restaurants low star ratings. I generally do my research first and try to avoid any place that falls below the 3 star mark. In the case of this particular Chickie’s & Pete’s I failed to do my homework and ended up paying the price. My friends and I came here after attending the Valley Forge Beer Fest at the nearby Convention Center in Oaks. Our hotel was practically in the same parking lot as the restaurant so being drunk, hungry, and excited for free crab fries coupons that we were given earlier in the night helped us make the easy decision to come here. The food was great. Pizza, cheesesteak nachos, and of course crab fries. Everything was delicious. The low stars come from service. We constantly had to flag down our waitress to ask for everything including ordering, refills, and the check. The restaurant wasn’t very busy and we saw her walk by quite often, avoiding eye contact with us. I know what you’re thinking and no we were not belligerently drunk. In fact by the time we got here, we were almost sober. Sadly as I write this review and think back to my experience this is some of the worst service that I can remember having in a long time. There are plenty of places to eat in the area, so it’s not like they are the only game in town. Just beware that if you come here for a quick bite, you may later regret your decision.

This place is a nice addition to the area and offers food and atmosphere a step above the other establishments in close proximity. The all you can eat crab legs on Wednesday night are not just a great deal they are excellent. I’ve also had the red clams, the white have too much garlic for my taste. One night my buddy and I had a plain pizza and we were pleasantly surprised by how good it was; the thin crust was cooked perfectly and the sauce had a nice sweet flavor. Overall the place is clean, the wait staff is friendly and attentive and is perfect for watching people and sports.

I have been here twice for dinner. On Wednesdays they serve all you can eat crabs for $ 25. This is really worth it if you at least order 2 – 3 refills. The crab quality is really good and their signature fries are delicious. The other time I came I ordered a mix of seafood. The lobster was rubbery. The atmosphere is very lively and dark. This is a sports bar with many TV screens. Service here the first time as ok. The second time our waitress was extremely attentive. I recommend this place for specific needs: college scene, sports games, bar, large groups, crab and fries cravings. I do not recommend it here if you are looking for a quieter chill environment.
