You guys need to talk to you workers about how to us a garbage can. One of your installers was throwing garbage out of his truck, not very professional.

Seems like things are improving over the summer. I’ll update if I ever get what I’m paying for. Still have daily restarts.

First off, I am in IT, with a fairly decent understanding of network technology, and this review is in regards to their internet«service». That being said, they have outrageously oversold there network. The amount of network saturation during peak ours(everyone’s home from work) is unreal. I live in Alta Sierra. My modem has a single RG-6 coax run direct to the drop on the side of my house. There is only one –3.5db tway splitter in my system, with the secondary output of said splitter properly terminated. They installed this splitter to drop the signal level to acceptable ranges that DOCSIS3.0 modems require. Short story there, the wiring to my modem in my house is exceptional. I pay for 75Mbs down, 7.5Mbs up. During off peak hours, I get 17ms ping 70 – 75 down, and on a good day 3.2Mbs up. Peak hours? HA. The average is 17Mbs down and 0.54Mbs up. When it comes to gaming, ping is king. Doing a few speed tests off won’t give you the whole picture. You need to do long term ping tests. If you get ping spikes 4 times a minute, it will be pretty much impossible to play any sort of FPS games. However, if you run a speed test, the odds are you will not see those ping spikes and it will read that your ping is fine. During peak hours, I see ping spikes to LA servers up over 1000ms. 150ms is pretty much unplayable, but 800 to 1000? Wow. When the network is overly saturated, your data packets have to get in line. Suddenlink’s network is clearly not capable of handling the amount of traffic on their network. And considering the up speeds are so low in comparison to the available download speeds, they clearly need to invest in their DOCSIS1. x upstream network. Only being able to utilize one up channel is ridiculous. Where is the channel bonding for uplink? Even if your having trouble attaining the limits of DOCSIS1. x on your upstream, at least allowing for multiple channels would remove some congestion! Alas, what can you do? In Alta Sierra, they only alternatives are sub 15Mbs connections with Data caps of 150GB/mo. Suddenlink, at least come out with a corporate response on the matter. Some thing along the lines of «Yes, we know that we have a network saturation issue. Unfortunately, demand has outpaced our ability to scale, but we are actively working on it. Here is what we are planning, and our expected time tables. We apologize for the inconvenience.» Poor form, Suddenlink.

Talk about deceptive advertising. They claim they have 200 channels. All they do is count the same channel twice. Once for SD and once for HD. Even then, there’s only about 10 channels worth watching. Definitely over priced. If you have a choice, do not get SuddenLink. Their internet service sucks. They advertise 15+ mbps, when I run a speed test it’s barely 5 mbps. Very unreliable company.

For the first time in my life I am experiencing what it felt like to storm the beaches of Normandy. Or to lose a leg in Vietnam. This is how the misery of suddenlink makes me feel.

Update on remote control: After a lot of badgering on my part, they finally gave me the right control. I am bundled with Suddenlink: broadband, cable, phone. The price of using the phone for free long distance is the better part of the packagel although they have a lot of trouble with their liness going down or out. My phone service went out and I need it for emergencies. I called them and they had a tech out at 10 p.m. the very same night. Good onya’, Suddenlink. The cable often goes bonkers, but am happy with the speed of their broadband. However, because of the *lack* of channels I used to get on DirecTV, I am seriously thinking about finding another suitable, inexpensive bundle. Any ideas?

Slow slow slow internet and mediocre customer service. I feel like I still have dial up. Looking into satellite internet because Sudden Link is only getting slower after the past year.

This review is really for their internet service. It is absolutely terrible. If you are a person who games competitively or streams a lot of hd video then don’t use suddenlink. The internet is EXTREMELY unreliable, meaning your getting 2down + less than 1 up on their so called 15 down 1.5 up plan consistently. You’ll find yourself stuck in red bar in a game with upwards of 200 ping randomly, and your videos will repeatedly stop and go, especially at night(which is when most people use the internet… imagine that). I mean honestly if I’m going to pay for overpriced internet in the first place I at least expect it to be reliable. Not only that, their internet«agents» are pointless considering all they do is reset your modem, which you’ve already done several times to try to fix their horrendous internet prior to calling their toll free number. And as soon as that doesn’t work they send a tech who tests the modem only to tell you that they’re are sincerely sorry but«your area is having issues that they are working on resolving.» Okay, so why the hell didn’t you tell me that in the first place, and when are you going to resolve the issue??? Next week? Next Month? NEXTYEAR??? I mean it seems like a pretty urgent issue. but all they can give you is «soon.» Meh…Just don’t use them, please. Believe me, you’ll be throwing your computer across the room after the climactic ending of breaking bad suddenly stops and leaves you wondering wtf just happened, or your destroying in a game of Call of Duty when out of nowhere you drop red bar and proceed to get destroyed yourself.
