Stayed at the Shaker Tavern early September 2013. I gave it a full five stars. Lots of history — tavern is 150 years old. No alcohol — just an old Inn, a bed and breakfast. The breakfast was great, the inn keeper very hospitable. Rooms were comfortable and what were expected in an old hotel. Not recommended for old people who can’t haul a suitcase upstairs — all rooms on second floor. The railroad tracks are 20 feet outside the front of the property and they do blow their horns early in the morning but it adds to the ambiance. We sat on the front porch until dark talking about our visit to the Shaker Museum. Too bad there isn’t any Shakers left in Kentucky — they didn’t believe in having sex so without offspring they simply died off and that was the end of them and their religion.
