Food was very good but service is terrible. 5 parties in the place 4 waitresses and bar tender all of which were preoccupied with a few guys sitting at the bar and not paying attention to tables. I ended up taking check to the bar, our waitress charged my card then gave the bill with my card to someone else standing at the bar. This place would be great with some new management. The kicker was the wait staff ordered their dinner as a delivery from another place and had it delivered through the dining area.

Ugh. About as bad as it gets. My beer was flat, the food was disgusting and the place was filthy. Not coming back.

Dingy and disappointing. Visitor to Auburn. Murphy’s is in the dated Holiday Inn. Chose to sit at the bar. They actually cleaned the bar with cocktail napkin. Needed much more! Went to a booth. Irish pub menu and service were okay. The only redeeming quality — Good selection of beer.

If you like Irish brew and food this is a great place. I stay here instead of Syracuse when in the area for business. I have the Shepard’s pie. It is very good and worth coming here for it. They also have Smithwick’s a great Irish beer.

This is a decent place for food and drinks in Auburn, NY. It is in a hotel, so there are a lot of out-of-towners and the place is crowded with the occasional conference or wedding on the weekends. The food is okay and there is a decent variety on the menu. The drink selection at the bar isn’t very good… unless you are a beer or whiskey kind of person. If you love finger lake’s wines you will be pleased. For the rest of us wine aficionados, don’t expect to come here and get a California chardonnay or a South American cab. They don’t seem to stock anything that isn’t produced locally. I can see the appeal of that… but, it just doesn’t work for me.

My disclaimer to this review: I am a local :) Auburn is a little dingy so it can be hard to find a nice place to have drinks, conversation, and very respectable«Irish themed» food. There can be some pretty decent live Irish music on the weekends. Saturdays can be blown up with wedding guest at the hotel, as McMurphys resides in a Holiday Inn. If your into Irish Pub’s stop in. Downsides: they close early, usually 11pm or midnight depending on the season, nothing crazy is going to happen here.

Generic Irish pub décor with pretty good food spoiled by sub-par and, at times, decidedly spiky service. The boxtys were great and the Shepherd’s Pie(though made with beef, not lamb and not really a «pie») was pretty tasty. Aunt Molly’s Pot-roast sandwich was also pretty good. There was a great ironic sign outside that said«Our employees are the best». We beg to differ.

A rather shockingly lovely Irish-style pub for upstate New York. Deep emerald green walls, a cozy fireplace and dark polished woodwork seem almost out of place on the first floor of the Holiday Inn. A number of very good beers on tap, of course including Guinness, along with a very well-rounded Irish themed menu made me very happy that BF had stumbled upon it. I was just sorry that I was so tired and could not enjoy the atmosphere as much as would have liked, but as it turned out, it was a quiet night in there anyway. We started with the McMurphy’s Boxty Potato Cakes, which were whipped potatoes with bacon, cheddar and scallions sandwiched between hash browns with sour cream and chives. So bad for you, so thankfully I only had a couple of bites before BF ate them all up. I ordered the half size of the McMurphy’s Roast Beef Sandwich. Thank god I did, because the half was huge and too big to finish. This came with the obligatory pickle and chips on the side. BF’s reuben was almost obscenely big but done very well. Since we were one of two couples in the joint, service was absolutely spot-on. Looks like a great place to watch a game or just hang out if you are stuck in Auburn.
