This business is closed. The website says will reopen in May. I bet their were either chef issues or owner issues. Sad.

My husband and I looked forward to checking out Auburns newest restaurant — previously an older outdated restaurant that the new owners transformed into a unique fresh intriguing spot. Just driving by was a treat. We were not disappointed on the inside at all. We stopped early on a Friday night without a reservation and it was no problem — things got busier as it got later so a reservation may be a god idea. My husband had the burger and I had a seasonal salad we split the calamari. The salad was huge fresh and delicious — burger was done perfectly. Everything was fantastic –Service was great too !

I went on a visit home and was very impressed! Awesome calamari — very light and delicate, it may in fact be the best I’ve ever had! Nice flavor. My family loved their entrees. I had the Carbonara, it was very good. The bread was good as well! The service was friendly and efficient. Then… The ricotta cheesecake was superb! Very light and delicious! We all had some and loved it! I can’t wait to return! A nice special occasion restaurant! I’m glad it is a new option in Auburn and I would definately recommend Hob Nob!

My friend(Dawn) and I thought we’d have lunch at the new Hobnob since we usually go for ice cream in the warmer months. Why not try this new eatery? I’m not sure if it’s the design of the building and exterior colors, but it reminded me of those 80’s horror flicks of the house that did not fit the neighborhood. You know the ones the main character enters and you know he’s making a huge mistake? Well, our visit was not a let down and it definitely was no mistake. As we entered, the hostess, who was also our waitress, greeted us. She(Ashley C) invited us to have a seat. If the place had an inch of feeling like the odd man out at a new place, her greeting changed the atmosphere. I felt welcomed. Like the outside, the décor inside complimented it with its hardwood flooring and rustic colors on walls and furnishings. It was simple yet modern. Alright, let’s get to the food. Dawn and I both have kitchen experience which made it more of an adventure. We were curious. Dawn ordered the Hobknob Burger served with the hand cut fries and I the Chipotle Chicken served with the Tomato Bisque.
I wasn’t too sure about how spicy my sandwich would be but my waitress explained that it was her pick and mentioned there was a bite that slowly comes through. I waited for that kick and it never came. haha. That’s alright because I enjoyed my meal. Finally, I ordered the Peanut Butter Gelato which was delicious. Will I go back? Yes I would. Lunch time around 2pm, where not many are eating there, is my choice because I’m the type that doesn’t enjoy large crowds. I will, however, be coming back for a dinner session so that should be interesting. Service? Ashley was attentive to my friend and I. She was never out of reach and I think that’s important. I will definitely recommend the place to my friends and family. Thanks Hobnob.

Tiny portions and overpriced! The calamari was good but not enough to split for two like my husband and I usually do. I ordered the scallop special for $ 34 and received 3 scallops with 2 small polenta cubes. They ran out of chowder but instead of telling us, they just brought out some other soup. We thought that would be comped but no, they charge us. Our food was good but we left hungry and it was not worth the price.

I only had a chicken Caesar salad, but it was delicious. Fast and friendly service. Clean and comfortable. Would have liked to see a more vegetarian dishes.

Stop in for a quick bite to eat. The place wasn’t to busy being only a few days away from Christmas. The wait staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. We got the calamari, fried green tomatoes, and the Osso bucco. Everything was delicious!

A fantastic new addition to Auburn, open atmosphere & a gorgeous bar. We ordered the braised short rib stuffed peppers to start, followed by the lamb & white bean chili, absolutely delicious. The wait staff was super friendly & very accommodating to our food allergies, highly recommend!

If I had to come up with a title for my review it would be: «And then the food came.» We went in on a Friday night for dinner. We had reservations and when we got to the hostess stand, we gave our name and said we had a reservation(which had been made for two people). Her response was«So, will it just be the two of you?» Just? It sort of implies that we are two losers who can’t find another couple to come out to dinner with us. Plus, the reservation was for two, so yes, it will just be the two of us. If there were going to be more people joining us, I would have made the reservation accordingly. There were a few more glitches in the service. I don’t think our server did a very good job of explaining the specials. We never got water until we asked later in the dinner. One of the appetizer plates was taken away before we were done. And then the food came. I ordered the scallops, my partner ordered a steak. Both of these were perfectly cooked, had amazing flavors, and the presentation was fantastic. The food made the experience great. I would give the food five stars alone. I will definitely go back and give it another try.

Applause Hob Nob owners for bringing another high-quality restaurant option to Auburn. Tastefully decorated comfortable atmosphere, pleasant and welcoming staff; the menu, in my opinion, perfect. Reasonable list of choices catering to a variety of palette without being overwhelming… and the food — wonderfully done. We went for lunch, looking forward to going back for dinner.

The food was tasty. The problems we had were service. Our young waitress was nice, but we got a cup of lukewarm coffee and were never approached after our initial serving to see if we wanted anything else, including a coffee warm up. We waited 8 minutes to be initially seen even though there were two tables of 4 that had already been seated and ordered. It took 24 minutes to receive two simple orders. Again, the food was delicious… they have some bugs to work out with service.

Best calamari I have had in a long time that I didn’t cook myself. Had the cassoulet… delicious! The pork was amazingly flavorful and tender and the lamb sausage was delicious. The plate was finished with flashed kale… mildly crispy and flavorful. My wife had the shrimp and grits. I almost stole her plate(not that I didn’t like mine), the grits alone were enough to make the dish. Plenty of shrimp and veggies as well. All-in-all…going back. Beer menu is acceptable. They need more craft beers to accompany the diverse menu.

Hobnob has only been open for a week, and some rough edges do show, but the brighter space and the food more than make up for them. I remember when this space was the Hoffbrau House, Riordan’s, Daut’s, and maybe one or two others I’m forgetting. Each were comfotable and homey, but kind of dark. Hobnob’s new style keeps the same floor plan, but it’s better lit, the floors brightened, and the restrooms much improved. The rough spots involve the wait staff, who are quite young and apparently new to the business. I’m not picking on them. They’re learning, and they were very attentive. Maybe a little too much, coming back very often to try to clear plates before we were ready. No big deal. What they really need to do is learn the menu, and try the dishes every day. Our waitress didn’t know what to call the Butcher Block(steak of the day), saying, «I think it’s like a steak». There was a funny moment ordering drinks too, but again, I don’t mean to pick on someone who is learning. I would just hate to see specials going to waste because the front doesn’t know how to sell them. The food was great. We started with arancini, porkopolis(pork belly three ways), and the fried deviled eggs. Rice balls can often be pastey, but these were nicely done. Crispy on the outside and nice and creamy on the inside. I’d love more truffle flavor, but I’ve got a truffle problem, I admit. The pork belly was my favorite starter, and not for the three sauces; a maple glaze, caramelized onions, and grits. What I loved was how the meat was cooked. Perfectly. The three bites would be great by themselves. Finally the fried deviled eggs. These were more like deep fried, soft boiled eggs, and they were great. We didn’t know what to expect, but they came kind of like a lighter, sausage-free version of a scotch egg. The tempura was light and crispy, and the egg within was hot and just a little runny, which went really well with the bacony remoulade underneath. Nice. Four of us ordered four different entrees, and I tasted three of them. I had the pork shank, which was the same dish I ordered at the restaurant across the street many years ago when they opened. This version was cooked perfectly with a subtle barbecue coating over root vegetables and risotto. It was more than I could finish — very comfortable and delicious. I tried the burger, which was also perfectly done. Thick, juicy, and medium rare. Burgers are such a subjective thing, but this was a good one. It could use a bit of crunch or acid though. Maybe a mustard or pickles or even some raw onion. This was another comfortable dish, but without a punch. The salmon, and I’m repeating myself, was perfectly cooked. The chimichurri was the spiciest(most flavorful?) addition of the night, but it still wasn’t overpowering or even close. It was fresh and nice, and it worked very well, but like everything else, it was toned down. The final entrée was a cassoulet that was presented in sort of a deconstructed fashion, that looked nice. The guy who ordered it enjoyed it, but I didn’t get a bite. Oh, I appreciated the three Spanish wines on the list. Good matches for the comfortable food. I have high hopes for Hobnob, and I look forward to coming back.

Clean, stylish and brand new. Good Caesar salad with homemade dressing. I ordered mine topped with salmon and was thrilled by the size of the filet they gave me. The tomato bisque was satisfying– not too heavy or creamy. I enjoyed it very much for lunch and will return for dinner out of pleased curiosity.

Have eaten here for lunch a few times and gotten take out as well. The food is delicious. It is all very fresh and well cooked. I have gotten the NY po boy sandwich, chipotle chicken sandwich, and burger. They have all been excellent. The physical appearance of the restaurant is very modern with beautiful wooden tables and chairs. There is a lot of light and the music they play is very relaxing and nice. Many beers and liquor are available at the bar, I went to the bar one night it was great. I definitely plan on returning and trying there dinner menu sometime soon.
