Stopped in here today for the first time because the Saturday«special» looked good. Ordered it to go. Was supposed to be a turkey pita«euro» style sandwich with tzatziki sauce. We just sat down to eat at home & the sandwich is not at all what I expected. They obviously don’t know what tzatziki sauce is, because I expected a savory yogurt/cucumber/dill/garlicky sauce. What I *got* was basically sweet honey cream cheese all over my turkey, lettuce, tomato, onion sandwich. It made for a very strange combination and we ended up throwing it out, because we both found it inedible & unsalvageable. I’m not interested in wasting my time or money taking my chances on questionable food. Additionally, the owner/manager/whoever the guy is was there and on his way out, barking orders at his employees to do things like vacuum the floor while he is gone & «while there are no customers here.» Umm HELLO?! I. AM. NOT. A. CUSTOMER. STANDING. HERE. RIGHT. NOW? The impression that I got was that he seems very full of himself & left me with a very negative impression of him & a bad vibe overall. On the upside, my sandwich maker/cashier was VERY pleasant and helpful. Despite her, my first visit will be my only visit. Not like they’ll care.

Really good sandwiches. I recommend their ciabatta bread with pesto spread. I can attest to the yumminess of their turkey, ham, salami, and chicken. However, don’t buy their mac and cheese, potato salad, coleslaw, or macaroni salad– they all suck and taste like the plastic bins they came from. High-quality sandwiches, but you pay for it. Expect to drop $ 10 a head. It’s worth it if you need a deli fix.

One of the best sandwich shops in auburn. Offer«star» sandwiches that have witty names after old movie stars and the like. Food is good… recommend the Donna’s-A-OK. Big portions but a little pricey. Very friendly staff. Limited indoor seating.

Boyfriend’s dad lives in Auburn, and we go to visit him as often as we can. This place is always a MUSTSTOP for me when we’re here. This is a simple deli, located in an unassuming strip mall. But man, it’s amazing. The cool thing about Downtown Deli? They use Boar’s Head meats. Even some of the bigger delis don’t do that. You can order a half sandwich or a whole sandwich. Head’s up– the whole sandwich is basically TWO sandwiches. The bread they use is truly colossal. I’d never ever seen bread that big before. My order here is ridiculously simple: whole ham sandwich with provolone cheese. That’s it. No mayo, no veggies, nothin. The quality of meats they use is so high, I don’t need to dress it up with other crap. Add in a bag of Maui Onion potato chips(YUMYUM) and I’m set. Boyfriend has had a handful of different sandwiches: some hot, some cold, some piled high with toppings, some plain. He’s liked them all. Like I said, it’s a simple deli but it’s so tasty. Also, everyone who works here was always so nice with my Texan way of hemming and hawwing.
