The food here is nothing special and wicked over priced. I’m talking way over priced. The service is also really slow. Over all not bad, but I’ll probably never go here again because of the price for what you get.

Nacho app was decent. Fish tacos were ok. Haddock for $ 18 was over cooked but cold. No idea how they mastered that technique. Kids meals only came with fountain drink but our kids don’t drink soda so apple juice was almost $ 3 each(didn’t realize until bill came). Waitress didn’t know much of anything. Very underwhelmed. Could have went to Friendly’s next door for a similar experience at ½ the price. Wish I checked Unilocal before going because there’s a ton of horrible reviews lately. Edit: fed wife’s potato that came with haddock plate to the dog. Worst flavorless potato we’ve ever eaten. Also haddock plate was horrific looking. No vegetables or anything just haddock filet and potato. What the heck? Really. Horrible place. Never going back. And not even cheap so you’d know what you’re getting into. Hope they shut down and stop stealing people’s money. Edit: I appreciate the offer to come back in, but I can’t see myself doing that any time soon after already spending almost $ 100 this past time. We work too hard for our money to gamble if a meal’s going to be worth it.

Amazing food and fast service. Not like this must be precooked fast but quick. Been there with the wife three times and the drinks are good and food is cooked perfectly.

Disappointed. We live 30 minutes away. We planned on going to the Outback, but with call ahead seating we’d have to wait 20 minutes after our arrival. My partner suggested Chucks — I laughed thinking ‘they’ll be packed!’ — to my surprise I called and they had no wait! Ehh maybe everyone is xmas shopping?! Score! We arrived and were seated immediately in an area with 5 empty tables… That should have been my first clue things aren’t the same! I was annoyed to find that my $ 26 steak no longer came with the the salad bar, soup and bread — that you’d have to pay $ 6 extra. Oh and that sweet potato you love? Yup, extra money too! The waitress explained that all menu prices were reduced by $ 6 because people complained about paying so much for their meals and not taking advantage of the salad bar. My filet was good. My sweet potato was great. The asparagus was overcooked, but that’s ok, who needs veggies?! Soda was watered down each time. !!! How does this happen! It doesn’t happen at McDonalds! We laughed when we paid with a $ 100 bill, not paying close attention to the cents on the bill… It was $.01 our waitress was kind enough to bring us change which included $.99 cents. At least the owner can rest assure the drawer won’t be short at the end of the night! But, we agreed next time, for the price paid — we can get bread, salad, steak, potato for a fair price at outback. We just need to plan better! We won’t be back.

Three of us visited chucks on a Saturday night so we expected a wait. We called ahead and only waited about ten minutes when we got there. The atmosphere in this place is great. It’s a pretty large restaurant but all the nooks and different rooms made it less overwhelming. The service was also prompt and friendly. Our waitress was super personable and knowledgeable. We ordered our food and didn’t have to wait long for it to arrive. Both my boyfriend and friend ordered prime rib and both agreed they were happy with their meals. I ordered a matterhorn burger and it was delicious. Would definitely visit here again.

Once again they get an F for FAIL! My husband ordered a burger got half way thru and bit into something pulled it out of his mouth and it was the paper the burger was wrapped in before it was cooked. SOGROSS! NEVERGOINGBACK. Not sure what the hell is going on here but someone needs to step it up. This place went from really great to really awful.

We went in and ordered 2 Filet Mignon, med-well(red center), with Asparagus, soup and salad, and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, and chicken nuggets and fries. The Filet Mignon was burned and dry and the Asparagus were so cooked that they were string thin. It took an awful long time to get the dinner. We decided a year ago never to come back but the family wanted to get some food in their system and we were in the area so we figured we’d give it another chance. 2 Stars is generous for this $ 100 meal. Disappointed to say the least.

Food quality has diminished and service wasn’t great on our last visit. Smaller portions with higher prices and the food was cool when served. My last visit to chucks steak house was today

Good food, but the worse service ever, screwed my credit card up. Tried to double bill, and then said declined

We stopped here because it is close to Hwy 90 and we were passing through. I had beef stroganoff and my husband had the fajita sizzler plate. We were both disappointed in our dishes. The stroganoff tasted pretty strongly of beef bullion and was overly salted. The menu said it came with sour cream sauce, which it did not– it’s more like fake beef broth thickened w butter. The meat on the fajita sizzler hadn’t been marinated so it was bland. The rice and beans were bland as well. Neither of us ate very much of our food. Also, the prices are far too high for the quality of the food. Mine was $ 18 and his was $ 16. Ridiculous. This place is huge and has a huge menu– they need to scale it down and focus on quality. One redeeming factor– we had a good waiter.

I would give this a zero if it was offered. My friend and I decided to go back to where we met 8 months ago. What a mistake! For a place that has done nothing to update the décor in 30 yrs. they should be ashamed at the prices they are charging. We arrived on a Fri night and the place was half empty. As I studied the menu I could see why! for a steak ranging from 19.00 to 28.00 dollars, which was not to bad but then you had to add 6.00 for the salad bar etc. Mine you, there was no other offer for a salad. The first piece of steak that I ordered came out over done and so tuff I had to send it back. The next piece was a better cut but came to me raw. By this time my partner had eaten his dinner and all I had was salad. Totally disgusted. We complained to several of the workers and they all agreed with us. Quality had gone down and prices were out of whack, One server told us that they have this complaint constantly. For the prices they are asking, do yourself a favor and go to the 111 chop house, at least the meat is top quality, the place is lovely and you get what you order. We will not be back and that is too bad because at one time this was a nice place, good food and good prices.

This place is really weird. And I really wish we had just stopped at a McDonalds instead. But if you want a hilarious story about a restaurant not too far off the highway you’ve come to the right spot. Let your first adventure be trying to figure out if this is two restaurants in one or they just really want to separate the bar and old restaurant area. Let your second adventure be to decide if this is a Steak House or «mexican» restaurant. I’m going to spoil it for you and tell you that it is NOT a Mexican restaurant. And it may barely be a «steak house»! One of your adventures will surely be to find the restroom. On my quest I wandered through the salad bar to the kitchen, around the Bookcase of Wonder and random signs that lead you to Places Far Beyond! But alas they are near the front of the restaurant, tucked away in a hallway to Neverland. Don’t bother asking your waiter where it is because even they won’t be able to explain it to you! Finally, your food. I made the HUGE mistake to order fajitas. I should have known that out in the middle of nowhere there could not possibly be a magical Mexican restaurant nestled within a long standing Steak House owned by a guy named«Chuck». The seasoning was off, the food was just bland, and something tasted a little funny with the rice and beans. I ate it, don’t get me wrong. I was starving. But would I order this again? NO. Would I stop by Chuck’s for Mexican? Absolutely not. The service was fine, the place is weird. Have an adventure.

Food is not outstanding. Steak tips ok, nothing special. One ice cream scoop of mashed potato, no veggies or bread unless you pay for salad bar! Not going back

This place has gone down hill! We normally come here for family gatherings and celebrations but never again. Dry prime rib. Over cooked steak. Our server, Kelly, was not friendly at all. Calling themselves a steak house is false advertisement.

So I think that the other reviews on this site are pretty inaccurate. If you are looking for Mortons or Ruth’s Chris, this isn’t it. It is very good food at a fair price, and while I sat in the bar, I felt the atmosphere was about right. Staff is very friendly, and Jen the bartender treated me like family, even though I was from out of town. Bottom line, this is not fine dining, but it is great dining. Highly recommended for a good night out that won’t break the bank.

Very disappointing. From ambiance, to the 40 minute wait to be seated, to the 20+ minutes it took to place our order. Not a place we’ll be returning any time soon.

So so for the food. Waitress Jen was nice and attentive. Maybe Outback would have been tastier as the top sirloin I ordered was pretty bland. I don’t normally use steak sauce but I was very tempted to ask for some during my visit. I resorted to salt and pepper. At least the local beer on tap was tasty.

I have been going to Chucks since it opened. It was always excellent up until recently. I went there in August with my wife and the place is filthy, service was only fair and the prices are through the roof. It is a shame to see what has happened to this place. We wont be going back.

I hate giving bad reviews. I really do! I am writing this review only because I need to warn others who haven’t been here in a long time — the place has changed! Since it was my girlfriends birthday and she wanted a dinner out in the Auburn area, I decided that Chucks was a good place to go. I hadn’t been there in about 10 years but Chucks used to be known as a solid steak house albeit slightly pricey. I assumed that it was still as good since it is still doing business there! I easily made last minute reservations on a Friday night(first red flag). We arrived and were led to the steakhouse side of this integrated steakhouse/Mexican restaurant(They specialize in BOTH? Red flag number 2). We were dressed up. The attire at Chucks was VERYCASUAL. The section they placed us in was deserted(they have all these little areas that are semi-private but seem more secluded than anything else. The lighting was weird — they have these fluorescent bulbs that provide a weird, bright white light that made us feel like we were beings interrogated. The ambiance was horrible. Above us I noticed that the staff hadn’t dusted in a time that was long enough to allow spiders to spin cobwebs.(NO exaggeration!) The light was bright enough to show every one of them! The cutlery had streaks(likely soap) The waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. What was strange was to learn that Chucks scale of how well a steak is cooked is strangely askew. «Medium» we were told, would come out with a full, red center. A «medium» steak generally has a thick pink center. The skewed cooking scale was red flag number 3. We chose a wine(by the glass) that we were very familiar with but it didn’t taste at all like it should — it was either a different wine or was really, really old. The price of the steak was high for what we received. The steak was«just OK». It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great, either. The baked potato was good. The vegetables were good. Chucks is not the Chucks of 10 years ago. Honestly, The Outback is much better. I would go as far as saying that Applebee’s is better than Chucks. Certainly cleaner. Suffice it to say that my girlfriend mentioned to me(the next day) that she wasn’t impressed with my selection of the restaurant. I knew it was coming. I thought the same thing. My advise: Go to The Outback. Get the Outback Special. It tastes like Chucks fillet. Vegetables come WITH the steak at The Outback.(At Chucks they are $ 3.99 extra) The baked potato tastes as good as Chucks. The wine HASTO taste better at The Outback. Your bill will be LESS at The Outback.
