Staying, basically across the street for two nights on business.. Watching football playoffs.. Wanted something quick… checked out Unilocal…

GREAT Chinese Take out. Menu is limited, by many I’ve seen, lately.. but what they do, they do right.
A. The post which mentioned, all the cardboard boxes against the wall… There’s a liquor store, next door… they use the boxes (cut) as bases for the bags and orders…
Gentleman taking orders was very personable. recognized and knew his customers and their regular orders and this week’s deviation, lol…
Singapore Mai Fon, was steller…
Wonton soup. used a real base, not from salty starter.
Sesame Chicken was excellent. .
Btw. it’s a take out joint. What ambiance do you want… staff was bustin it and moving like a machine.

China Wok is your basic Chinese food place. The prices are great and the food is tasty and ready to be picked up pretty quickly. The lunch special Is a great value. I have never eaten there as it seems like a take out place. You can see everything being cooked in the kitchen which is nice. I always enjoy getting lunch there.

This place does a brisk business. Very. But it’s all take-​out or delivery despite a pretty big space and some (3) tables inside. The 3 tables could easily be joined by 6 more, and not be crowded. But no one stays to eat in because it’s not very welcoming. There is a collection of cardboard boxes that would probably be useful for bottle collectors or for a stout of other purposes. Here they only look like a mess against the wall. Presumably they are to hold the takeout orders coming in. But it’s kind of a mess meanwhile and totally not welcoming.
They have a typical Chinese menu, you know, the one that’s in most Chinese fast food places in America. They have Chinese cooking but also some very good English speakers, that’s always a plus, although not required. Just keeps it moving on the phone and in line well.
We shared dumplings (pork). Good. Came from frozen I think. Food 3.5 stars. Presentation, cleanliness etc perhaps 2. Pleasant employees 4. Averaging around 3 stars.
But if you do delivery and don’t have to come here I bet the stars would be higher.

My kind of place: unpretentious, not expensive, and just good food. No frills.
I came back to Auburn for vacation and I had to go to the best Chinese food I have ever had. I’ve been away for 15 years and i was glad to see that it was still in business. Same great food and even had a few items new to me e.g. Chinese donuts, fried scallops…
If you are from Auburn and take this place for granted you are making a mistake. I never had a bad dish here. Make sure this place stays open for another 15 years. I wish I could get this in Michigan.

Whenever I visit home I try to grab a meal from China Wok. It’s by the far the best American Chinese cuisine in the area. Their General Tso’s is the best I’ve ever had, and their pork lo mein is fantastic. If I only I could get this where I live…
This place is the definition of a hole in the wall. Amazing food, but you don’t want to eat it there. Get it to go, and you won’t be disappointed.
