Auburn Community Recycling Center

If I had to sum up my first experience in one word it would be «Crooks». I have friends that have been encouraging me to recycle for some time and I decided to gather up a truck load to take in. I had 1,270 pounds of electronic power transformers, a mixed metal but 70% of the weight is copper wire. They offered me a penny a pound, very discouraging. I also had 350 pounds of automotive batteries, they also offered me a penny a pound, that’s when I knew that something was wrong. My auto-​mechanic buddy told me two days earlier that the going rate was about 10 cents a pound for batteries. They were attempting to rip me off, probably because I told him it was my first time recycling scrap metal. I knew better and told them never-​mind.
I went across town and was able to recycle the batteries for 10 cents a pound and the transformers for 5 cents a pound. They even gave me a penny a pound for misc. scrap that the Auburn location told me that I had to pay them to take. Take my advice, don’t bother going there. Go to Newcastle or Grass Valley instead!

RIP OFF…
I was charged $ 66.00 for a small trailer of yard scraps.
The woman said I had 3 ½ yards of trash on my little cart. Thats ridiculous. i only get charged $ 15.00 at the Roseville Yard for the very same thing.
What a scam…
I could never had loaded even 2 yards on that little cart. Its Impossible. But the look of satisfaction and ridicule on her ugly fat face is what got me. She knew she was ripping me off big time and I had no choice at that time but to comply.
Total Thief.
I will now head directly to roseville for all my dumps no matter how small (I went here because it was only a half a yard)
As for the garbage, I have started putting hazardous waste in the regular garbage cans and let them take it for no extra charge. They can deal with it on their own time and expense from now on.
I see now why the roads in Auburn are so filthy.

I received a reply from the owners w an apology and to reply to them. Yes it was your establishment. Thank u for the apology but u had been identified to me before as the owner so I know who u r. And that day u also actually dog whistled at me to get my stuff up front because u were closing. I no longer come.

Bring a snack and your Kindle because it’ll take a while! Very nice people and service but probably won’t get out of there under an hour.

What a change in this place. New owners. New crew fast and friendly people and fair prices. Line was a bit long but I was surprised how fast it went. Very polite people who run it and I understand family owned and operated. You can tell they appreciaite the busniess and I like that. Sometimes can be a bit loud and stinky but what do you expect, it is a recycling center.
