Tonight was our second visit. I have to say they are two for two. Service was excellent. Sean was our waiter. He was right on it! Food was excellent. Fish and chips and he had a black and blue burger. I had a peach blossom. Pricy $ 10 small drink. Packs a punch. He had two dark beers off their short run. It was perfect and I don’t even like dark beer. We will be back.

Auburn Alehouse used to be our favorite years ago. We’ve gone back a handful of times, hoping to rekindle those old Alehouse feelings. Alas, we are left broken-hearted time and again. The food, and staff, inconsistencies are just no good; can’t have that in any solid restaurant relationship. I’ve given the Alehouse many chances to make things right. Sadly, it’s time to break up. Goodbye forever Auburn Alehouse xoxo.

I like this brewery for location, view from window, ambience, and good quality beers selection. I do not recommend eating there. Cheeseburger I ordered was dry and from cheapest ingredients.

Have been coming here for years! Love the atmosphere and not to mention the great beer! The food is also great but as someone who is there often the menu could use some new variety. The service is always great!

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed one of my hometown favorites yet! Auburn Alehouse is an old standby of mine, even though truthfully it has fluctuated in reliability over the years. I grew up in this foothill Gold Rush town, hell, I lived in Auburn so long I remembered when this was a Chinese joint called Shanghai! Where’s my cane? Yes, that is where the fab Stout gets its name. So many things keep changing in Downtown and Old Town that it is hard to keep track. WTF about Tsuda Grocery having a new name and purpose now… SIGH. While you wait for a table, and most days and times you will have to wait, wander across the street to pay your respects to what used to be Mr. Tsuda’s Grocery Store, visit the single oldest still fully-functioning United State Post Office west of the Mississippi on your left, and step in the middle of the street to admire the spot where John Travolta stood during the filming of Phenomenon in 1995. Auburn Historical diatribe aside, Auburn Alehouse, as a Brewhouse and a Restaurant, has AWESOMEBEEAHS. English Session Ale and Shanghai Stout are my faves, but the Auburn Export Lager and Old Town Brown are also worth a try. Do the flight! You won’t be sorry. As for the food, I could go on an endless rant about how it was better once, and blah blah, but I’ll spare you. Order pickle chips. All the salads are go. Wash down a hardy burger with some beeahs. You get the picture. Service here is generally swift, but if it’s busy, it’s loud and you have to flag a bro down to get a refill. The people that work here have always always always been nice folks though. tl;dr Beer. Really good beer. Decently priced beer and occasionally food in the heart of historic old town Auburn.

I had the jambalaya and the beet salad. The beet salad was nothing to write home about,(ordinary). The jambalaya had tons of onions & peppers. I hardly seen anything else in it. My friend had the reuben sandwich which was really worth its money. Was disappointed.

I love Auburn Alehouse! The cheesy bread appetizer changed my life. The food and drinks are awesome! The only problem is the ridiculously long wait time.

This is really 3.5* I got the black and blue burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was delicious. The fries were a little mushy but still very tasty and served with some sort of yummy chili sauce. We mainly went for the beer. The beer was good! We enjoyed the full flight. «Prices vary» but ours was only $ 14! Couldn’t believe how inexpensive for 12 tastings. Service was good. Overall, I’d recommend.

The beer is excellent. Try the PU240 if you like a strong IPA. Atmosphere and service are good. The food is just ok, but hey, it’s a brew pub.

Came here this past Friday after my friends wedding rehearsal, and there was a LOT of us. We were seated out on the patio and our waitress was really accommodating, considering their were so many of us, I’m sure it was overwhelming. She got our drink orders first, a lot of flights of beers being ordered, and other cocktails. Really good beer, and tasty drinks. For food, it took a little while longer to order, as everyone wasn’t 100% decided, so the waitress didn’t want to take only some orders at a time. So that wait felt especially long because I was really really hungry! Anyway, we order. I got a small plate, the Ahi Tuna,(raw, not seared) and a side of french fries. My theory was that since I ordered something that didn’t need to be cooked(the ahi) and a side of simple fries, that I would maybe get my food first. WRONG, I was dead last. That was a bummer, but lucky for me, I have nice friends and they let me pick off of their plates a little while I waited. As for how the food was. it was delicious! Everything I tried was really good. My tuna was fresh, and the cabbage slaw was bright and acidic. The french fries were super crisp and seasoned nicely. Also, paired with some good olé ranch dip and it was super yummy. I tried a bite of my friends roast beef, and the pulled pork as well, both excellent. Oh! and the chili, so so good! Lots of meat, and really flavorful. I thought everything was a great value for the food you get. Drink prices were good too. All in all, if I’m ever back in Auburn, I’ll go back, I need to try the cheese loaf.

We were so disappointed by the service that we ended up leaving for another restaurant. We waited for 45 minutes to get a table and then when we finally sat down, nobody came to our table to take our order. After alerting 2 different waiters to the situation, and both saying that they’d take care of it, we decided to leave after 25 minutes of nobody even giving us a second glance. This was my first time here and I was so looking forward to it. However, I won’t be back.

Fell in love with this place long ago. Not sure how this affair started exactly, but I’m glad it did. The only bummer is that I don’t drink beer! They have LOTS of beer! All different types! I won’t even begin to explain the beer, because I know nothing about it. They sell these little tiny samples that are adorable, but that’s all I got for ya! LOL I think that aside from their beer, their«loaf» is their most popular menu item. It’s a loaf of bread with olive oil, cheese and garlic packed between the slices! It is served with additional olive oil and balsamic vinegar! SOOOOGOOD! The fish and chips are also a popular menu item. I don’t know if I’ve ever ordered any other entrée besides that! It’s that GREAT! Anyways, have fun, try it out, and drink the beer!

Stopped by here for a beer on our way to Tahoe. We got the sampler and none of us were impressed with any of their beers. Out of 11 beers, only 2 were decent at best. The location looked cool, but their beers not so much. We didn’t try any food.

We were returning from Tahoe and got here noon on a Sunday. This was one of the best restaurants our group of 15 adults, 2 kids, and 2 dogs could fit at with zero wait. We were seated immediately in the patio area. While the restaurant was pretty busy, the patio was empty. It was quite spacious and the heat lamps kept us nice and warm. Our server was friendly and took drink orders right away. They have awesome beer flights with 8+ types of beers for $ 10! Best deal ever. Beers were pretty average. The triple IPA was our favorite. Finally we got food orders in and it took over 45 min for all our food to come out. However we did have a big group. Food quality: Shanghai nachos — 3⁄5 You can choose seared or raw. We got raw & were surprised at how fresh they were! However it was basically wonton chips topped with ahi, a tiny bit of diced tomatoes, and not much else. Really bland. Alehouse burger — 3.5÷5 Fat and juicy, but not a lot of flavor. Comes with fries or salad. The fries were delish. Nice curly fry seasoning and really crispy. Fried pickles — 4⁄5 Nice and crispy, not soggy and not too salty. Meatloaf — 3⁄5 Meh. Looked good but it was just alright. TLDR: good spot for beers with large groups and fur babies. Food is just ok.

Well good news… Your socks are safe. No worries about them getting knocked off here. Auburn Alehouse is a solid choice for dinner and a beer. Their beers are good not great and the same goes for their food. Don’t get me wrong I wasn’t disappointed by my meal but I wasn’t impressed either. The staff is friendly but service is pretty slow.

WOW! So after a morning of hiking we were FAMISHED! My husband has been here several times but it was my first time. We got there at about 1:30 a d there was a half hour wait. SOOOOOO glad we waited, because that was frickin amazing. Beer wise we went for the Imperial IPA and the Fools Gold Ale. I’m not usually much of an ale fan — usually stick more to stouts and porters — but that Fools Gold was incredible. My husband is a fan of high IBU beers and he really dug the Imperial. After reading the reviews of fellow Unilocalers we got the Cheese Loaf, Blackened Chicken sandwich and the Grilled Salmon sandwich, with chicken strips for my son. The Cheese Loaf was life altering. Like my life would have been less full without it. The blackened chicken had bleu cheese on it(BLEUCHEESE!) which complemented the spiciness in the chicken and was amazing! My husband finished the salmon so fast I didn’t even get a bite! From now on, when coming back from Auburn hikes, we will be stopping here!

This place fills up fast. If you aren’t here early(for lunch on weekends or dinner), expect a wait. I’ve been lucky the few times I’ve been here(twice eating at the bar and once lunch at a table). If you have a wait time, this alehouse is in the heart of old town Auburn and there’s plenty of shops to browse. The building erected in 1855 was built specifically for brewing beer and operated into the early 1900’s. In recent years, brewing was renewed and beer is being brewed here again. Stopped in shortly after breakfast and town browsing. A beer and fries were on the agenda. Instead, I opted for the short flight(6 tastes. looks like 2−3oz each), she had a 16oz of something light, and pickle chips. I’ve got thing recently for fried pickles. Apparently, after being scolded by friends, we should have ordered the cheese loaf. The pickle chips seem to be made in house(not frozen). The menu has plenty of options of starters, soups and salads, sandwiches and burgers, entrees, and dessert. When at a brewery, I’ll stick with what the brewery brews. Auburn Alehouse has their year round staple beers, seasonal beers, and brewers specials — some on tap and some on nitro. I stay away from IPA’s and fancy the darker bold type. Like most breweries brews, I liked some and loved others. They’re also carrying a range of craft whiskey and bourbon. It can get noisy here but we were able to converse without yelling.

Here for the first time on a Tuesday at Noon. I was able with find free parking within 10 minutes on the street. The tasting glasses here are 3ozs each and you get everything on tap(Flight Sampler) for $ 14 in change(price varies) or a Short Flight of 6 pours for $ 8. I opted for the Short Flight and this is what I thought: Kinda Liked: 1. Gold Digger IPA Indifferent: 1. 7270IPA(pub special) 2. English Session Ale(pub special) 3. Octoberfest(pub special) Didn’t Like: 1. Lil Lucci(pub special) 2. PU420 Imperial IPA — too bitter Didn’t Try: 1. Auburn Export Lager 2. Gold Country Pilsner 3. Old Town Brown 4. American River Pale 5. Fool’s Gold Ale 6. Shanghai Stout The vegetarian options were limited and the few available on the menu didn’t seem appealing. I also didn’t see soft pretzels available as an appetizer which was a bummer. Not a bad place to try out once, but I don’t think I’ll be back.

We love Auburn Alehouse! My husband used to love coming to this place because of their beer and the butter lettuce salad! The recently just brought the butter lettuce salad back so my husband was super happy to see that! We had one of their seasonal beers called the Equinox. It was so good we had to purchase a growler to take home! The growler was only $ 16 too! Deal! Auburn Alehouse has always had great beer, great service and great food! We will be back!
