The new owner sure makes a difference! I gave this Papa Romano’s another chance and I received great pizza and great service. I always root for local restaurants to do well, especially when the food is so good. I’m happy to say that I’ll be returning for more!

The owner of Papa Romano’s gave us a free meal to try his place again, as he’s just recently taken over management of this location. We gave it another go, so here’s an update! We got a round pepperoni pizza and this time they remembered to put the Butter and Garlic/Parmesan flavoring on the crust, and let me tell ya, the best thing about this pizza is the flavored edge of the crust! The sauce is what it is, as it’s the company’s recipe and isn’t really going to change. The crust of the pizza-y part is better than Little Caesar’s in that it’s not super soggy, at least. Although the pizza crust isn’t soggy, the sub sure was! We tried the Italian chicken, which is chicken breast cubes marinated in Italian dressing and cooked with peppers and onions, added to a melty cheese, and placed on a hoagie bun. In theory, this sandwich would be great, but it was pretty flavorless. It would have probably been better if the bread wasn’t boggy. The Italian salad was pretty good! The ingredients were fresh, and there wasn’t a brown piece of lettuce to be seen! The creamy Italian dressing was tasty and they were generous with cheese on top(so ask for no cheese if you so desire, as it would be a lot to pick off). The Bambino bread was hands down better than the cheesy bread we got last time, so we would definitely get this again. Garlicky, salty, and chewy! Overall, this gets one star more than last time because the order was properly made and the quality of the ingredients is good! Try the Bambino bread and make sure to add flavors to your pizza crust!

This Papa Romano’s is under new ownership and the new owner invited me to give it a try on the house. It is much improved and the issues that lost a star are not under the control of the owner. It is my belief that this location will be a very good one. We got four items — an XL deep dish pizza, Bambino Bread, a meatball sub, and an antipasto salad. Total was about $ 34 including tax, which is a great price for food for a family of five. The old slogan was«When one of the best beats two of the rest» to justify higher prices. I’m glad to see that the prices are now more in line with better pizza chains. Papa Romano’s appears to have changed the bread recipe.(I used to work at a different location 30 years ago and know the taste very well.) It improved the taste of the pizza from great to excellent. Good amounts of cheese and toppings and cooked just right. Very flavorful! Unfortunately, it doesn’t work for the Bambino Bread. I had it a different location and thought they had used stale dough. Unfortunately, it is now too chewy and a bit bland. Bambino Bread was always my favorite item there, but it just doesn’t cut it anymore. Hopefully the new owner will report this back to corporate. The meatball sub was delicious! Good sauce, cheese, and meatballs! The bread tasted good, but needed some crusting up on the outside. I’m not sure if they cook on the foil, but put it directly on the oven to give it a good crunch. The antipasto salad was an antipasto salad. In the 30 years I’ve been eating at Papa Romano’s, salads have never been a highlight. The pasta salad is the only unique one. A Michigan salad would be a good addition to the menu. The service was friendly and everything was ready at the same time, a big improvement over how it had been. I’m glad that I can once again recommend this Papa Romano’s!

I can’t wait to get back to Michigan and get a pizza. Their deep dish is THEBEST. I would eat it everyday if I could. I would go here once a week or so, and never had any issues. What kind of service do you expect from college kids working at a pizza place?

Great pizza! It was very easy to place order through Unilocal.Typed in order off online menu, received email confirming order was received, then 30 minutes later had pizza delivered. I would definitely order from PR again.

Great Pizza Papa Romano’s! We ordered Pizza and salad over the holidays and it was delicious! We have ordered from this location several times and it has always been very good and consistent. They are located 2 blocks from our house so very convenient. The guy who answered the phone was very polite and got our order correctly and it was ready fast.

We’ve been ordering from this location for years, they’re pretty dependable. Pizza is never greasy, always just the right amount of sauce, cooked perfectly. They are always very professional on the phone. Sometimes the pizza is done early, so don’t be late picking it up.
