Great setting, right on the water. Seafood is good & super fresh. I wished there were choices of sides that weren’t fried, but I guess that’s a regional thing. Bought BIG shrimp in the fish market. Maybe a novel tourist destination. Not sure I’d go back…

In an area that sports a lot of tourist trap crappy seafood, this place does it right. Fried, grilled, blackened seafood baskets and sandwiches range from $ 8.99+. Very casual. I recommend for a true Florida experience. They also have beer.

This is the place I go to get fresh fish. All the fish here are extremely large and may have been caught that morning. I come here to get my supply of Red Snapper, Grouper, Salmon Steaks and jumbo Mayport Shrimp. It can get very crowded with a line of people coming in for the restaurant part of the store. They have a great seafood menu. I normally have 2 dozen oysters. But being this is July, I only eat oysters when the month has an «R» in it. I recommend this place a lot especially if you are looking for fresh fish.

Awesome place in Mayport Village to get fresh fish tacos! They get crazy packed at lunch time though so get there at 11. The line will be super long by noon so earlier the better. It’s very reasonably priced for freshly caught fish, it’s in a huge fish market. I usually get them blackened.

Stopped here to buy fish and what a selection they have. There is also a restaurant if you want to eat outside on the deck.

Grill baby grill; pick a fish and have it GRILLED.. Don’t forget the chowder and a glass of tea, then get a table on the patio. Fish is fresh and prepared right.

New Owners! Yay! Much cleaner fish market and dining experience. I recommend ordering fresh local fish– grouper, basa or mahi and have it grilled or blackened. The meals are very casual so don’t picture a fine dining

We are originally from Boston which has a long tradition of fresh and great seafood. This restaurant would compete with any up there. In fact the owner says he gets some of his cold water stock directly from Rhode Island. We had the Grouper(grilled and blackened). It was fresh, perfectly done and had a nice taste. The fries, hush puppies and cole slaw was just ordinary. Utensils are plastic. The location is right next to working charter and fish boats so you know the fish couldn’t get fresher unless you caught it yourself. We also checked out the market. Nice selection of fish(fresh and frozen). We bought some cod which is hard to find in his area.

It is one of the best seafood market I have ever been so far here in Jax! Freshly caught on seafood, very clean, friendly staff. They are actually located by the sea & you could see small boats here & there. I always buy my salmon, pompano & mussels here. And I tell you when I cook them very simple & easy, just put salt & pepper, it is very good! Because all of them is fresh. They say that«if you buy a good looking fish/meat/poultry, then you’ll probably end up tasting a really good dish. Check them out guys! :)

We’ve been coming here since the door first opened and have never had a bad experience. Bill and Ann(who now own The Fish Company in Neptune Beach started here.) The tastiest fresh fish and sides. Get your seafood grilled, blacked or fried. Specials all the time as the fresh catch changes. The soup menu is always changing. Don’t like the fish offered? No problem, go pick out fresh fish from the market where they gladly will cook it up for a charge. Well worth the wait. Friendly staff. Consistantly good food. Most of the time it is packed and yeah, you have to wait. It’s so worth it though. My ONLY issue is the hours. I live near OP so getting over here is a rare occasion these days. They close at 6pm.

Don’t come here starved! I’ve been waiting 45 minutes to get a fish taco and a crabcake sandwich. I’ve seen 3 other families order after us, actually eat their meals and leave!!! This better be the best damn seafood in the world since I’ve had time to read the entire newspaper, finish a crossword puzzle, watch 2 boats dock and then take off, drink two sodas, and write this review! Even the sun has gone down and we’re still sitting here with no food yet?

Woohoo!!! Had lunch there with Hubby on Saturday~~~talk about busy!!! This place was hopping mad with lots of lunchgoer’s both inside and out. This establishment is also a seafood store that has a long row of coolers stocked with ice and the freshest seafood in Jacksonville! Bring your cooler and have the counter clerks help you with your selection, cleaned and on ice, ready for you to cook at home. On the far left side of the store, line up to place your lunch and dinner order. Look overhead at the large menu ladened with regular favorites. We each ordered the two choices of seafood fried up and served on top of crinkled fries. Don’t expect fancy silverware and dishes~~Safe Harbor uses paper baskets and plasticware. Must try the Savannah Crabmeat Soup! That was creamy, had lots of crabmeat in it and oh, so, yummy! I love my hubby but I wasn’t sharing so we each had to get our own. Just wished they had a soup spoon to eat it with instead of the plastic teaspoon. Prices were comparable – some dishes costing well under $ 10 each, some over $ 10. There’s a children’s menu also. We sat on the outdoor patio overlooking the water and watched the birds fight over scraps from the guys gutting and cleaning the day fisherman’s catch next door. Yep, next door is the marina with full and half day fishing trips! Very fresh! Ample servings! Clean tables and chairs(there was always a guy outside wiping down tables). Service with a smile. Eat plenty and go home happy~~~that’s exactly what we did! Will go back here many times, for sure! ***This place is NOT open on Sunday’s.

Best fresh seafood in Jax. Restaurant has gotten better after an initial downfall when the Marina Restaurant at Safe Harbor moved to Atlantic Blvd. Take Mayport Rd to the ferry. Restaurant is in the market.

We finally made it here, and after all the hype and the high expectations… drum roll… it was very good. Good because it is really fresh. And this might not be a common belief, but Safe Harbor is way better than Singleton’s. So go to Safe Harbor and enjoy some fessh seafood.

I had lunch here today with the hubby and I have to say I was pretty impressed. Its a market first and a restaurant second. You walk in and you are welcomed by all sorts of fresh seafood. You would have never known they cook food there just by driving by the place. If you don’t like seafood then don’t bother coming in, you really have to appreciate it! I ordered their grilled mahi mahi sandwich, which came with fries. They also put on some garlic butter ontop of the fish, which made the sandwich more delicious! My husband ordered their fried grouper basket which came with a lot of grouper, fries and slaw. He really liked it. There is seating inside and outside(on the deck). Sit on the deck, its a nice view of the river =0) Also, if you are military and in uniform, they give you 15% off of your meal.

Safe Harbor is Bubba Gump’s Mecca. Located right outside the fairy to Amelia Island, this place is where all the shrimp comes in off the shrimp boats. When you walk in you notice cases and cases of fresh fish on ice, buckets of shrimp of all sizes, and a little counter in the corner where you can get food. This is a fish place, go up and grab a basket of fried fish or shrimp and it will blow your mind. A bite of their fired grouper is all you need to have a out of body experience. If you want to try something a little lighter then the French fries(why would you?) get the blistered green beans. After you polish off a few cold brews and a basket of hot salty fish, swing around and get your whole snapper for dinner that night. 4 stars because this place rocks, it’s a bit out of the way, but anyone who tells you to go to singletons seafood shack, or any other place in the area is kidding themselves and wasting your time. This is where you go for great seafood, end of story. I’ll save the 5 stars for the Tokyo seafood market…

Locally caught fresh tuna(including black fin), mahi mahi, pink snapper, red snapper, all kinds of shrimp, grouper, and wild caught salmon(not local, but wild, which is a good sign). Friendly staff will clean the fish for you and they even offered to split up a package of frozen seaweed into smaller portions, so that we did not have to thaw out the entire thing! Fish is then packed into a plastic lined box that they fill up with ice, so you can safely get your catch home. Definitely going back for oysters, clams, mussels, and more tuna steaks!
