As for the food… Delicious! My two favorites are the Rue Morgue and the Sleeper!

My daughter and I came from Orlando, Florida just to visit Poe’s Tavern. She loves Edgar Allen Poe, when I came across a review in the paper about this place, I really thought she would enjoy it, I wasn’t wrong! Located just a block away from the beach, this place is SO AWESOME! The staff is incredible, all so friendly, we decided to eat inside, though you can also eat outside.
The inside is really great, loved the stain glass, the pictures, we loved it.
I wish I had gotten the name of the person who greeted us, also seated us, she was really great, our waitress was Shooka, she was super sweet, friendly, very helpful.
I ordered the Pit and the Pendulum burger, which was awesome, cooked perfectly, loved the fries, even though I couldn’t finish them. My daughter had the Citrus Marinated Mahi-​Mahi fish tacos. Best fish tacos ever! My daughter has never said that about anything, she loved those. Food came fast, was hot and delicious, Shooka was very attentive, very nice.
Really want to thank everyone but especially Shooka for being so super nice to us. We most certainly will be coming back, was so worth the drive! I wish we had one!

Listen… If you’re ever in Atlantic Beach/​Jacksonville Beach please stop by here! The service, atmosphere and the food was OH SO GOOD! Sweet baby Jesus try the cheese fries!

Ordered a burger with fries and they have shoe string fries which are great! The burger was big and fulfilling and I had my fries loaded with cheese and ranch dressing which was GREAT! Overall service was good and will be returning to try another burger on their menu.

I love this place. The burgers are always delicious and juicy. As a picky pickle eater I really enjoy the pickles they provide with the burgers, so crisp and fresh. The queso is divine. When the general manager is working the music selection is excellent: tupac, Aaliyah, color me badd

I had great time visiting here. I ordered the ahi tacos and my fiends ordered burgers. Everyone agreed the food was excellent!

The burger I had was great and actually cooked to medium. They have a decent beer selection and the staff was very friendly. While in the restroom you are greeted, via speakers, with a man reading Edgar Allen Poe poetry. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars was due to the time it took to get our food. I was there at an off time with minimal patrons so it should have came out a tad quicker.

I regret that I have passed so many times on a place that just appeared to be geared to specialty Ales and bar burgers. To my surprise, this place «specializes» in burgers and prides themselves as promoters of healthy eating. The beef is ground daily and the fries are fresh cut potatoes never frozen. I found the menu moderately priced and in line with the quality of food presented. The burgers are served with a side including a fresh and delicious house salad that with a variety of house made dressings. I was delighted with the mango vinaigrette. We had excellent service and our order was cooked to perfection. The ambiance is all delightfully Poe as noted by the name but not dark and dismal. Plenty of outdoor and patio seating with a full bar is also available. They have a happy hour but we weren’t interested as we were specifically for burgers! Definitely deserving of their honor of being best burger in Jacksonville two years straight.

Beautiful place for us Poe lovers. Great environment just to hang among friends or family and it’s a few steps away from one of Jacksonville’s beaches. Wish I could return to this magical place when I go back to Jacksonville. The decoration is aweosme!

Unique atmosphere with delicious food. Nice spot to eat and enjoy a beer in a more mature casual setting than most places by the beach.

I ate here on January 15, 2016. This was my first visit to Jacksonville Beach and I was traveling alone. I was looking for a place to have dinner where I would feel comfortable being a solo traveler in parts unknown.
The host staff was very friendly and accommodating. They said I could look around to see if I would feel more comfortable sitting at the bar or at a table. I chose a table with a view of the outdoors so I could people-​watch. The restaurant is open air. Although I was sitting inside I felt that I was sitting outdoors due to the open air layout of the restaurant.
My server was very friendly and engaging. My food came very quickly and was very tasty. The portions are huge! I had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries. Since I was staying at a hotel with a fridge in my room (Courtyard Marriott reviewed in another review — 5 stars), I was able to take home the extras to have for lunch the next day.
There seemed to be a lot of regulars and locals eating here and everyone was having a great time. There was lots of activity at the bar!
When I return to Jacksonville Beach I will definitely eat here again.

What they do– they do well. Burgers are made with a righteous blend that is packed with flavor. Drinks are tasty, although the cocktails are a ‘bit’ on the pricey side. $ 9.50 for a mule isn’t outrageous, but can lead to some sticker shock if you’re sucking them down. Beers are fairly priced however.
But the burgers– that’s really where it’s at. Order it medium if you want tons of juicy, meaty-​red awesomeness. I had mine topped with buffalo shrimp which were a great addition– bourgeoisie surf and turf.
For burgers and drinks, you’d be hard pressed to do better anywhere else in town.

Poe’s burgers are amazing. They always give you a huge portion of fries. You can split burger and fries with a friend if you’re not starving. The servers are always quick and friendly. Their burgers are juicy and flavorful. Guacamole, salsa, queso appetizer is always fresh and flavorful. They have happy hour all day everyday. They have plenty of beers on top including local beers. They have a big bar area with Tvs. They have a cute outdoor area and it’s a lot of fun when the weather is nice. Parking can be hard but this place is definitely worth it.

They have the best Moscow Mules! I’ve only been here a few times. I’ve had the buffalo shrimp salad and it was ok… Wasn’t the fan of the shrimp though. If you visit and are up for a shot ask for the rocket pop shot! It tastes just like the popsicle! The outside area is really nice too! They have heat lamps if it gets chilly. You can also bring your dog which is awesome! The staff accommodates your pet with water as needed… just be sure to have a leash. Over all pretty good. Im looking forward in trying some of their other dishes :)

Topped w/​Asian Pickled Veggies with a side of blue cheese/​bacon slaw was perfectly delicious. Love the atmosphere with Excellent service by Joe. My only regret is we didn’t order their awesome fries. We did get chips and guacamole which was just as good as what I get in San Diego, avocado country. Also enjoyed watching the Chargers Denver game. A family favorite.
Sadly, 8 hours after consuming the Wahoo fish, the 2 of us that ordered it have food poisoning. The GM did address the issue and offered a sincere apology confirming they take all precautions with their fresh fish to ensure the best quality. I appreciated the validation of their food freshness and accepted a gift card for a return visit. Excellent customer service.

This place is pretty cool. Nice selection of menu items. Burger is great. I have to say that the service is somewhat slow, well… the bar service as we typically sit at the bar so that was somewhat slow. Other than that, cool indoor and outdoor vibe.
The bathrooms have Poe’s writings all over along with a voice reciting them ;)

A place that has poetry on the walls, on the menu, and even played in the bathroom is unique to say the least. And worth a visit for sure. I think Poe’s tavern caters to any crowd. It has an enchanting feel outdoors and a more classic bar ambiance inside (with high tops, big screens, and of course, the bar). In the outdoor area, there were twinkling lights tastefully strung unto bushes and shrubs as well as romantic canopied picnic benches along the street view. The feel of a place is important but service and food is what completed this 5 star review.
Our waitress, Shooka (what a cool name!) was knowledgable about menu items, the history of the tavern, drinks and gave wonderful recommendations. She was friendly, attentive, helpful and kept our glasses full :)
I ordered the Moscow Mule and it was probably one of the best Moscow Mules I’ve ever had. It was refreshing and not overly strong. Just right.
The food was delicious. After the overindulgent Thanksgiving meal (s), I opted for the Ahi Tuna salad and my husband had an amazing juicy burger. The salad was good, I loved the dressing, if I ordered the salad again, I might substitute the tuna for chicken. The burger was flavorful, juicy, cheesy and accompanied with a generous portion of fries! Everything was wonderful from the moment we were seated to the point we decided that we were too full for dessert. Maybe next time ;) Thanks Poe’s! What a wonderful and unique place to dine and hangout in Jacksonville :)

Poe’s hits the checkmark on nearly all bases for me. For starters, THIS RESTAURANT IS HUGE. Indoors, outdoors, bar seating — I can’t imagine ever having to wait for a table. Music, check. The kinds of tunes I would play if I owned a restaurant: White Stripes, Black Keys, Cage the Elephant, etc. Fun, kick-​ass rock n’ roll.
Nectar, my sweet, sweet nectar, what a generous tap assortment of Florida favorites and fantastic microbreweries from around the country. Not sure which pint to choose, no need to worry. Poe’s has you covered with $ 5 flights! (And the crowd goes wild!) Check out my selections below.
The burgers are monstrous in size and certainly not short on flavor. My burger came with a runny over easy egg on top. Disclaimer: This is not date food. This is a five napkin meal. You’ll be lucky to come out alive after battling these beastly burgers.
Shoestring fries are seasoned generously. They are quite good, but for me a bit too salty. Also, the onion strings that came with the burger were delicious, but unfortunately they were cold. Probably they were plated before the burger, since the burger was served piping hot.
Our server was outstanding. Friendly, funny and timely. I would come back here in a flash. How did I neglect to mention all the spooky Edgar Allen Poe-​inspired artwork scattered throughout the restaurant? Better late than never! Add Poe’s to your Atlantic Beach bucket list.

I have been to Poe’s Tavern a handful of times & every experience was great! One of the great things about Poe’s is they allow you to bring your dog & have a spacious outdoor area to accommodate. When we were seated the server immediately brought my fluffy furball a bowl of water.
My only reason for giving Poe’s 4 instead of 5 stars is their cider selection. I am not a beer drinker so ciders are usually my go to. I usually have several drinks when I go out so to find out they only had one if any was a disappointment. One of the times I went I specifically looked on the menu to see if they had a cider & it said Angry Orchard. When I got there & ordered it she told me the selections change frequently & they didn’t have it at that time. I tried the only one they had but can’t remember the name; I just remembered I wasn’t a fan.
My last visit a few months ago I enjoyed a moscow mule. It was very delicious probably one of the best ones I have had in Jacksonville. It was $ 9.50 which is pretty typical for this type of cocktail so I tried to savor every taste to make it last. For my lunch, I ordered the Annabel Lee chicken sandwich with loaded fries that included cheddar cheese, bacon, & green onions. The Annabel lee includes a charleston style crab cake topped with remoulade sauce & OH MY… it was delish! It was extremely filling & worth the $ 11.75. (I think there may have been a few dollar up-​charge for adding the «loaded» fries).
All in all Poe’s is a great place to relax, enjoy a great meal at a reasonable price. I have been here for lunch & also for a late dinner. Both inside & outside were accommodating & service has always been great!
